i was talking to a friend and he gave me some links of some websites with links to good korean artists. most this stuff doesnt get shown here, so i thought id post up a few links. ( btw. you are more than welcome to post some inspiring links as well ;)

one place to check is ( i learned about this place cuz my website was getting many hits from there. later i learned of the kickass artists that hide over there. )
the only downside is that you would have to register. at cgland to view their pictures.
go to the members section.
go to the link section, lots of 2d artists there. some are ok. some are good.

here are a few examples of Suk Jung-Hyun

07 July 2002, 11:36 AM
Aww... I begin learn to draw. And draw to learn. (Hmm. How came I here to cgtalk???)

I've found a really good tutorial for beginners:

07 July 2002, 02:49 PM
The Koreans are kicking so much ass these days. Not only in CG, but in film and music too. I'm watching so many Korean films these days and listening to Korean music. They are catching up to the Japanese in a big way.

07 July 2002, 03:06 PM
One of the best films I ever saw was the Korean film "Musa" -- unfortunately the version playing in US film festivals had 30 minutes cut out. The full uncut version is unbelievably good. Zhang Ziyi stars in the film.

The IMDB rating is 8.5/10 (which is amazing for a foreign film).

07 July 2002, 04:36 PM
Dude, LEO! I've been waiting for that film! Man, I've been waiting for that forever now. Guess now I need to wait for the DVD.

07 July 2002, 04:38 PM
The DVD for Musa is available here:

07 July 2002, 06:38 PM
That link says Region-3 only DVD's. :(

07 July 2002, 12:22 AM
Sorry, but that's the only way you're going to get the DVD at this point. I haven't seen or heard any plans to have the DVD brought over to region 1. Simply use a region-free player.

07 July 2002, 12:49 AM
how would I get a region free dvd player?

That movie looks awesome and my girlfriend is korean so she can translate for me.

07 July 2002, 07:39 AM
I really don't like this region area dividing. It's soo dumb idea...

As I know some american wanted to protect their movies (comes from Hollywood?). Now it seems a hungarian saying becomes true: "Who dig a pit for somebody else, that will fall in it". (hoist with one's own petard)

Okay, but that's not the place to talk about this.

Have you seen the tutorial I've posted? Does anybody know a similar good one? (I can't buy these kind of books. And if it's free, why should I buy, anyway... :) )

07 July 2002, 10:16 AM
Jeez subscription in cgland is a pain in the ass., it has a form in english and javascript errorform validators in korean..,:annoyed:

07 July 2002, 11:47 AM

how about this tutorial ?

07 July 2002, 01:26 PM
sorry I'm new here... was just wondering where can I find Suk Jung-Hyun website.

07 July 2002, 02:36 PM

I've checked your works on your page... pff... I become totally depressed. Man, you are a real Somebody! I won't write words like cool, awesome, etc, because those are too weak words to describe...

Really, REALLY, really... Okay, I don't really know how will I learn to draw after this, but maybe you could tell that how can you find those nice girls and convince them to take their shirt and so. No, I'm not joking now! Please, tell to us Master!

I dont' really know where do you get it. but most of the ppl said that Pioneer DVD player can play all region and it is able to record too.

However, as i know. the more expensive the dvd player. the more protection they have. So, even tho you buy a pioneer. get an old model one, or get a cheapest one.

I didn't get a pioneer. But i got one that can play all region tho. it is some crappy brand that i got it from Leon. is only like $120(CAN) or somehting tax incl.

Hope it helps.

07 July 2002, 06:00 PM
xyth- Thanks man. Believe me, I got depressed after looking at all the amazing artwork from all the links posted in this thread. I hope someday I'll be as good as some of these guys.

As far as getting girls to take off their clothes for you.... Hmmm. I dunno what to tell you. I just ask, and they say yes. I don't know if there are any "secret techniques." Just be sincere and be honest about why you want them to take off their clothes. In my case, I juse show them my paintings/photography before asking, so that they know I'm serious about my artwork. Well, it also helps if they are romantically involved with you. . .. :p

07 July 2002, 06:59 PM
I mean c'mon...if it isn't bad poser art, it's some cut lollita in battle armor with her cleavage hanging out...woo hoo, let's show boobs so people think the artwork is even better!

08 August 2002, 07:57 AM
Thanks Lunatique! So the trick: 'everything for art'... Hm, I buy some pencils... ;)

d_hansbury: How about orgasm-powered mini-mech? :D Maybe you know that sex is inspiring and more people will watch a painting like this than that tic-tac-toe art, called modern art (Vasarely, Picasso is almost the same for me. Doesn't needs fantasy really (IMHO!)...)
Anyhow, can you see any functionality of that vechile/robot? I can't. But it looks very technical, very well structurized. Even you can see the place of (energy) windscreen. So, it's cool!

You know, our civilization built on two things (unfortunatelly): sex and money. 'We' are even pay for sex AND sex for money... (Isn't that sad?)

I 've visited your site. I am very impress with your photographs.
I 've study photography for many years. However, i will never able to get to your stage.

Any tip that you can give me how to capture potraits. How do you ask the model to put those posses. Or, you didn't ask. they just did it in natural. Who do you convince them to have those. Since due to my gf. When ever i tell her that i am going to take picture, she is getting nervous and not natural. How can i fix this happen???

08 August 2002, 03:48 AM
HapZungLam- I get asked this all the time, and here's the answer:

1)When a model is nervous, tell him/her to pretend that you are not there. Just do whatever they were doing(reading, watching TV, sleeping..etc), and YOU have capture the moments.

2)Once they get used to you taking pictures, you can start to tell them to move this arm to the left, tilt the chin up, look to the right...etc.

3)For emotional shots(this only works with people who have a little bit of acting ability), ask them to think about things that makes them emotional. You can tell them a sad scenerio while shooting, and watch their expression change. Or, make jokes and make them laugh...etc.

4)You can also aske them to imagine they are really cold, or sitting under a bright sun, have a headache, waiting for someone...etc. Their body language will change according to their imagination. Showing them pictures of poses you like helps to give them an idea of what you are looking for too.

The key is really in the person. It has to be in their personality to have a little bit of exhibitionism in them, or they are just very down to earth and relaxed. Some people are just uptight all the time. It also has to do with YOUR personality as well. You have to have the ability to relax people and inspire them. I don't think you can learn that unless you go on a shoot with a good photographer and WATCH how he/she talks to the model and make them relax and have fun.

Can someone who can read korean possibly post a guide to signing up for english-only readers? I really want to look in the gallery but I can't get through the sign-up process!

08 August 2002, 12:50 PM
