Hey everyone, I havenít posted for a while but its the beginning of a new quarter at school so ill have time to do some personal paintings before midterms kick in. here is a 50 min. sketch from photo reference of a very pretty cosplayer named Haruka. Im focusing on trying to achieve the most with the fewest strokes and pay more attention to proportion, color observation, tone and light then with detailed rendering, so any comments in that vein would be appreciated, thanks.

Great sketch!!

What would be interesting on your next pix would be to use a more expresive brush for the outlines. Maybe a camelhair variant in PAINTER? - just something with some nice thicks & thins. Post more!!

hey thanks cloud and giza,

about using a more expressive brush, im actually forcing myself to simplify my painting process and tools, i relied to much on automatic brush settings like opacity and shape etc on my other pieces wich slowed me down to much, so im purposly forcing my self to paint more simply in photoshop, at least for this series of portraits.

But your right cloud that eventually i want to work a more expressive line weight into my strokes, ( as a interesting side note i got more line expression by carving into my line in a similiar piece i just finished,

you can see that piece here: Lilly (
