View Full Version : My (Customised) Mercedes CLK-GTR

Heya this is pretty much my first evrr evr evr psot, I have modelled a Mercedes CLK-GTR using blueprints in maya, and i guess its my first project since I have only used maya for 1 week and all this work u see i learnt from scratch (sorry if it looks like i am showing off..but i aint just to set the scene) anyways can you post your views on it please?
I used maya software to render cos i dont have a clue about hdri and mental ray (which makes my stuff come out black and white for some reason cos i dont ave a clue what i am doing with it.....)
now here are the renders, as you can see the car is heavily customised so dont expect phtorealistic pictures with no mistakes i am aware of the dents and stuff on the hood i tried to hide them lol...btw i admit using a tutorial for the wheels and shiny paintwork!Be as kind/tough as you want because i like an honest opinion...i preferr people telling me my work sucks and its true rather than saying its rules and it actually sucks...so please be honest!!!
thanks once again!
A hastily-put up page loads simply click the links and they shud work!!!

To be honest, I'm not really liking it. The overall shape of the model, and the horrid smoothing, just are awful. However, I will give your props for being your first model. Just keep practicing, and maybe you can be up there at the top.

I am really hoping this is a joke, from your post and the pics it seems kinda funny to me, haha

What do you want critique on with this work? Modelling? Rendering? Composition? Also, could you please include wire frames of the model. Lose the lensflare on http://www.geocities.com/kamranblueflame/car_in_white_lit.jpg, it just looks tacky (it's hard to use lenflares in CG without them looking tacky). Finally, if this is your first 3D work ever, I think it's a good start for a beginner. Keep it up, and welcome to CGTalk!

not that i could do any better but it looks like a chrysler 300c that got beaten by a sledge hammer and now has really igh blood pressure and a water retention problemthat is my focused criticism

Rivett: Atleast you are honest! Yes the overall shape seems better in wireframe, and the hood got a little messed up and no matter how i tried to smooting it i cudnt do it it looked dented! Yes it is my very very first project, I hope I can get as good as the others people that are in here!
The Lost Vertex: Actually it was not a joke but I see if you find this lame because I am assuming you can do much better.........
barcode: Thanks thats the best comment I got so far! :D Ok I will drop the flare it seemed a little (well more than a little) wrong to me as well so yea I will not do that in the future! I would like peopel to C&C the overall look and feel of the object, but not the rendering sicne I know that I did not do it it was from a tutorial.
