View Full Version : Constant Shading mode

Out of curiosity, I've heard some animators say that XSI's constant shading mode is "essential" to them when doing Character animation. Far as I know LW is the only one that has this as a preset display mode without using testures or scripts.

Just wondering how many animators really find this display mode that important or useful while doing character animation?

What do you use it for other then previewing the silhouette which I can do easily simply by looking at the character, i don't need a constant shading to see a silhouette personally.

As far as I can see the only decent use for it I've seen in any description has been for use with XSI's FX tree to crteate quick alpha channels and such in real or near realtime.

yes its great to check the silhouette. I personally view the alpha channel of the playblast.
