5 minute sketch with charcoal pencil on paper. 20 mins colouring in Photoshop. Giggled and listened to 'Cake' throughout. Hope you can read the fine print!

a League isnt a measurement of depth in the title "20,000 leagues under the sea" It's a measurement of distance.

So "20,000 leagues under the sea" means the will travel a distance of 20,000 leagues whilst in the sea.

07-02-2004, 02:07 PM
friday I guess? not too many entries yet

allright, I don't know how much time this took, quite long (2-3 H)

allright, new rule: State what you were listening to while drawing :scream: For me: Wimbledon

... ok just kiddin

First time posting an image. It took about an hour to complete, it didn't really come out like I had imagined. I look all over for images to use, but settled on just going from scratch. It does look like alot of what is out there though based on the subject.

Photoshop was used, nothing but PS. I'm sure many of you are thinking that I went filter crazy... =)

07-02-2004, 03:04 PM
Garma that is fantastic! your best one yet! I really wish I wasn't going outta town today cause I really wanted to work on this one!

07-02-2004, 03:12 PM
Jeeh! I finally have a tablet too :)
I can't say I wasn't a little inspired by Nemo :P

1 hour - Photoshop - Tablet (not Wacom)

Now I have another addiction :P

07-02-2004, 04:07 PM
This was a quick one but I had to throw it in:

Quick sketch then PS7: 20 minutes

50min ps+wacom

07-02-2004, 07:11 PM
They're everywhere. No, really. Everywhere.

I worked on this for 2 hours, but lost 30 mins of that to a mega- crash and a minor crash. You do the math. Pencils and photoshop.

:D Good stuff today. I dig it, Garma

07-02-2004, 07:29 PM

PS & penpointer 30 min.

PowerChild: he he nice, knows that.,000 Leagues Under the Sea_30min.jpg

I've been following the daily sketches here for a week now. Very cool forum and very inspiring. I've just recently dusted off the old tackle box of pens and pencils while attempting to get back in touch with my creative side. I've ignored it too long :).

Anyway, here is my attempt.

Photoshop, mouse, 45mins.

07-02-2004, 10:37 PM 1h30min

07-02-2004, 11:40 PM
Nice pixels peeps!!
Throwing my hat in...

Photoshop, wacom, 1.5 hours

07-03-2004, 12:25 AM

- "Are they mean, Mom?"
- "I'm not sure Jules..."

1 hour, done in PS7 with a mouse. I finally got the nerve to work on a daily sketch; the talent here is unbelievable. Keep up the great work everyone!

07-03-2004, 12:29 AM
He he,, i should not even post this.. sorry no time to make it better
Photoshop, 5 minutes.

:) have a great weekend everyone!

what I lack in skill I make it up in comedic value.

Goblin King
07-03-2004, 01:29 AM
1.5 hours, photoshop & wacom

07-03-2004, 01:44 AM
Dargon - sweet sub man, it looks great!

Goblin King - you and I must have been drinking from the same Mountain Dew vat or something.

steven - one day, one day...I can only dream... nice man, real nice

07-03-2004, 02:01 AM
1h30 on inllustrator...

the words i'd love on it would be "now, you talk to her"...

07-03-2004, 02:15 AM
Here's mine... 3h in PS&W

07-03-2004, 02:59 AM
Whoa, seen some great work here!

Here's my pathetic proverbial blueprint attempt: 30 mins ps

Telemaco- Your style is amazing! love the water tone.

Stephen S. - phantastic atmosphere and lighting, and attention to detail

Dargon- love the prevailing blue tone.

Garma- whoa! probably the best I've seen out of you! Beautiful painting.

07-03-2004, 03:41 AM
Well, here is today's contribution. Painter 1.5 hrs.

It's too bright and soft for my taste.. I love the deep dark colours everyone else has going here.

07-03-2004, 04:08 AM
Hoo! I love the designs on some of these submarines. Here's mine:
The fish are saying, "Let's get outta here before that thing pokes Octopus in the head and all Hell Breaks loose!"

About 1.5 hours with Photoshop, some Gaussian Blur and the Little Mermaid Soundtrack. (sigh) Yes, really.

Fun fact: 20,000 leagues is the DISTANCE that the Nautilus submarine travelled underwater, not the depth it sank to. (well, I thought it was fun.)

LOL Sagi_13!! Great interpretation! :applause:

20000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA; about an hour and a half; Illustrator. I mean, maybe the marine life is friendly down there, ya know? Besides, I didn't want to have nightmares tonight. :D

I don't know how I wound up cutting part of the pic off. :hmm:

07-03-2004, 05:41 AM
20000 leagues..

crappy quick sketch.. 20 mins photoshop.

whee! :)

07-03-2004, 06:38 AM

Here's my 2nd shot (assuming yesterday's shows up OK).

1.5 hrs
Photoshop w/Wacom tablet. (not terribly original).
Music: Jazz from the 60's Spider-man toon!

No points for me for originality this time around.

Really like a lot of the lighting in these. That's on my list of things to do.
Nice to see the variety too, especially in the last bunch of posts. Great work all around though.

FR32C - that makes me think of the old Disneyland Submarine ride for some reason. :)

07-03-2004, 06:44 AM
Telemaco - I love your work! This picture and the Jurasic Park pictures are great.

07-03-2004, 08:15 AM

here is mine, I had to think how I could twist this topic so I themed this
20,000 leagues under the sea (MAFIA STYLE!)
30min Acyrilics/15min PS
My Fav this time is Dargons - so well done and atmospheric, it is like a film shelf.
Biped - awsome, excellent composition, very effective picture, it is a small world being that because you know exactly what my boss looks like!

07-03-2004, 08:19 AM
Had time for another fangtooth.
PS & penpointer 40min
ref's at ( (,000%20Leagues%20Under%20the%20Sea_40min.jpg

Not much here compaired to the other posts, but here it is anyway. Man, I really need a tablet.....or a scanner......

07-03-2004, 10:05 AM
haha.. got in a couple hours ago.. saw the challenge.. 6am toronto time..

anyway. 1 hour. mostly mouse... barely touched the tablet.

i dunno.. i suppose it was pretty generic but i didn't see much to the contrary on that either.. so i have licence neh?

:buttrock: buttrock everybody!!!

07-03-2004, 10:45 AM
Good job folks!

Garma: mooi gedaan, zeg!

07-03-2004, 01:40 PM

07-03-2004, 01:52 PM
great concept drawmonger, nice scene
if you put more time in this it'll be great

07-03-2004, 02:08 PM
Nothing really original. Done with Combustion3 in less than 1 hour.

"Jack, I think we found som-CHOMP-......."

07-03-2004, 02:20 PM
thanks Cyanid :) would ne nice to take a sketch and build it into something bigger. I suppose that everything we do here helps prepare us to develop a complete work (which I have never done...but look forward to the day).

07-03-2004, 02:27 PM
I hope I'm still in time

put this one together in half an hour at work

07-03-2004, 11:20 PM
Great stuff everyone, stephan s. well, you already know you rock. Dargon, beautiful atmosphere.

I am on my friends farm this weekend so I can't submit but can I just repost my work I did for the "new frontier" topic? it would fit better here anyway.
