Bugger! I can't think of anything other than the same idea I had for the Lost and Found ( category...

Think dammit think!

06-29-2004, 07:21 PM
Inked by hand and coloured in Photoshop, took about 2 and a half hours.

06-29-2004, 07:21 PM
40 min photoshop, brush tool, 1 pixel

note to self: this is your last sketch for this week, 'cos you don't have time!

06-29-2004, 07:54 PM
Here is mine. 1h 10min painter:

06-29-2004, 08:33 PM
I hope someone understands the joke here... I might have the color wrong but if anyone can recall the radio phone incident... :D

I used Adobe Photoshop, my graphire three, and a lot of staring at the screen for a long time. It all took well over an hour and a half, probably about two hours, heh.

06-29-2004, 08:47 PM

06-29-2004, 09:17 PM
well i got this idea from a google search image.

but this is my first ever piece done with a wacom...well i say that, the first ever piece done with my wacom. :applause:

06-29-2004, 09:18 PM
carl was quite a pig on set...

pencil, 45 minutes. good topic - this film was a real inspiration for a lot of us.

TeoM, that's pretty funny. you should work on some dino "carney folk".

06-29-2004, 10:05 PM
1 Hour 15 minutes. Open Canvas and Photoshop.

06-29-2004, 10:17 PM
I found time to make this.... I only posted a quick sketch for yesterdays.... but anyway
Photoshop and mouse. 1 hour I am still learning,I am getting at least faster for the same quality. :hmm:
Oh i learned how to make my own brushes so i dont have to use the grass brush tool, I made my own brush for the first time... YEY.

IT WAS EITHER THIS OR OLD PEOPLE... but since I have already used old people in 2 drawings. "free fall" and "fight club" yesterday I think I should leave them alone for a little bit..

.... when they thought it was all over.....

hey Roberto good pick for topic.. considering thats what we will see in meeting 2 :)

06-29-2004, 10:39 PM
Mine for today.
PS & penpointer 1h 20m

Teom : nice style Park 1,20.jpg

06-29-2004, 10:43 PM
2 1/2 hours, Photoshop, Custom Brushes (which were quite nasty this time, resulting in an image looked like it was beaten by a bully filter:

Awsome work today, but TeoM, your image is amazing. The line work on the Dinosaurs Teeth and background carnival rides is fabulous :bounce:

06-29-2004, 10:53 PM

Amber with the dino dna...

06-29-2004, 11:29 PM
ravioli_rancher- Yours is hilarious. Brush is alright but more color is needed.

Kieronh-I'm assuming thats inside an egg or something. Looks really cool though nice colors.

Biped-Awesome work I love the poses and dinosaurs

sagi_13-Pretty cool but some shading on the egg would have made it feel rounder in 3d dimensions. Looks a little flat :(

bilbo3d-Nice sketch, I love the touch with the cookies.

bah all the others are great too... im to lazy to write a little piece for each.

This took me about an hour and was referenced using "Sunday Afternoon" . I was gonna have dinosaurs replace the people but they ended up looking like garbage so i just scrapped it.

06-29-2004, 11:40 PM
sagi_13-Pretty cool but some shading on the egg would have made it feel rounder in 3d dimensions. Looks a little flat :(

thanks for the comment, yeah it does look flat, I was not sure how to make it look rounder, that is why I added those brown lines, me and lighting are still not the best of friends, Ill try shading the egg see what happens..

06-29-2004, 11:48 PM
1h30 pencil drawing, watercolor and photoshop wacom.
I guess we are back to 640/480.

06-29-2004, 11:54 PM
Haha its so evil yet the Dino's expression is so funny

06-30-2004, 12:06 AM
Haha pasto nice one!

Here is mine...not really satisfied with it.
PS wacom 2h

06-30-2004, 12:13 AM
Lovely work as usual Pasto! Yours too Goro!

@Sagi_13 - Try creating a new layer, set it to overlay, and flood with 50% grey. Use a big, round, soft airbrush and paint with black and white. Try putting the Highlight a bit to one side, and a sliver of light on the opposite side, to give the impression of bounced light off the ground. Finally, get a hard brush with 50% grey again, and paint in the bits where you went over the lines to fix it up!

Thought I'd go the cartoony look for a change, about 45 minutes with the pencil, and about an hour playing with colour in Photoshop with the ol' Wacom.

I call it "Pet Sitting".

06-30-2004, 12:20 AM
Hey thanx a lot guys, I guess I am more comfort with traditionnal pencil drawing...
too bad cause I really wanted to get comfortable with the wacom.

Dargon, it is 2:15 here and your image made me laugh to death.

06-30-2004, 02:19 AM
Fantastic work everyone! I experemented a bit on this one and it got to the point where I finally had to give up. But in working on it, it envoked some of the same feelings I got watching the film for the first time. (great books too)

2.5 hours, photoshop w/mouse.

Goblin King
06-30-2004, 02:53 AM
Great submissions today everyone!

Spent 3 hours on mine today, got kinda carried away and lost track of time. Wacom & photoshop as always!

06-30-2004, 03:06 AM
had no idea come to mind when I read the topic...had nothing to good's hideous I know - but it's all I could get...hour - mouse and photoshop

Hell I don't even know how it even relates to jurassic park...oh well...some really nice submissions so far...

06-30-2004, 03:10 AM
Ok. so far we have 16 carnivores, 4 herbivores, amber, an egg, a phone, a donkey, and some poop.

sounds like Jurassic Park to me!

I love 'em all! :D

06-30-2004, 04:08 AM
Ok heres my go at it, as you can see there are no dinosaurs as i went for more of the environment. Lots of great work so far as usual. Photoshop 6, 2 hour...

06-30-2004, 05:10 AM
In one of the books, i remember some small dinos swimming to the mainland where they would harass infants etc.

painter / 2hrs

lots of great dinosaurs!!
pasto: nice sketch!
teoM: had a good laugh with that! well drawn too :)
Kieronh: good job on the amber.

the sparky
06-30-2004, 06:31 AM
I'm kind of afraid that this is too dark.

06-30-2004, 07:12 AM
1.5 hrs sketching on paper with marker and charcoal. 0.5 hrs on colouring and adjusting the colours :P
Hope you guys like this park ;)

06-30-2004, 08:31 AM
Well sparky, just add some highlights on it, the drawing is nice.

squee I love it. Everytime I try to make trees like yours I put random points and get a big mess of unrecognized points...

Ephesus, really peacefull, nice compo.

06-30-2004, 09:38 AM
45 minute sketch. 2 hours coloring.

06-30-2004, 11:53 AM
Fun topic, had to do this one in full colour. Plz don't mind the anatomy! :D

My T-Rex: acrylics on paper. 4 hrs.

06-30-2004, 01:18 PM
Hi all. I just finished my almost 1st totally photoshop painted image.. and I figured out how slow I was... ;(

It took me 3 hours to finish this image totally. Anyways. all c&c are welcome.

06-30-2004, 01:21 PM
Robert, I dont mind the antatomy at all! it looks great! great style.
Thanks for the compliment Pasto. I prefer the more peacful side of JP myself. but theres nothing wrong with a T-rex with a taste for human!

06-30-2004, 01:32 PM
Here is mine

20min pen/15min photoshop
my favs:
Goro-Awsome atmosphere
RobertNitiredjo - great movement and colours

06-30-2004, 01:59 PM
zzacmann: That's just awesome. If i had any kids, thats where I would take them for sure.

Great stuff by every one else as well. I'm really starting to like these topics.

06-30-2004, 02:10 PM
This was the first thing that popped into m' noggin' when I saw the title.
I opted for a more croc-like skin texture fer T-man. And the guinea pig wanted to be a pleasant dark blonde.

There is some incredible work here.

RobertNitiredjo: Very nice use of earthtones- I dig your style.

Kieronh: I like the amber. That's the first thing I thought when I saw it. Nice angle on the topic.

OK, there are a lot of them here that I'd like to compliment- I'll just say nice job to everyone. Great topic!

I almost forgot: pencil sketch was about an hour, then I colored it entirely in Illustrator CS at about 3 or 4 hours. The most time I've spent on one of these thus far.

06-30-2004, 02:13 PM
Here's mine :)

Folks, I'm having trouble posting my pic. Please help! Thanks. :)

06-30-2004, 05:59 PM
Thanks Dargon,
I tried real quick the advice you gave me, and I see how it works, I didnt spent too much fixing it cause I have other stuff to do, but thanks for teaching me the techique! thank you thank you thank you...

here is how I fixed it 10 minutes photoshop.

07-01-2004, 12:25 AM
Here is what I came up with.

Took me 2 hours from concept to finished piece. I used photoshop 6 and a wacom graphire. Critique will be greatly appreciated.

07-01-2004, 04:06 AM
Mine's about 14 hours late, but as Marcia Brady would say, "Something suddenly came up. . ."

There hasn't been a #3 yet, has there? Anyway, I wanted to add Mothra
to make it more of an even battle, but ran out of room and I was already
late. About 1.5 hours in Photoshop.

07-01-2004, 04:19 AM
yes, there has been a #3

And if it had Mothra, it would have been much better. Instead it had a giant stupid Duck that killed the T-Rex. Blasphamy.

07-02-2004, 12:14 AM
had no idea come to mind when I read the topic...had nothing to good's hideous I know - but it's all I could get...hour - mouse and photoshop

This isn't eval, but it's annuostivix on evals computer, and I didn't want to sign her out. (She said I could do this)

I like this picture a lot. You described it so badly lastnight, but now that I saw it, I feel like my phone is silly. You should let me know how you did the shading some time, it's better than the shading in your other stuff.

07-02-2004, 01:02 PM
Ok, dunno if this contest is still running, but here's my attempt. :) One of my first attempts at painting something other than a texture. Not too great, but a start is a start. ;)

65 min with Photoshop.
