Hello friends,

After almost two weeks doing the new 3D image I can put here for you see. I try to do like a Tower Bridge from London but I can't.....because I have just a little reference photos.
Because of this I change a lot of things, sorry if there are a number different things but one day I will go there...London and I will take great photos :) ahhh, I'm not architect ok.
I hope you like that images and feel free to be critic ;-)

Thank you very much

dude the images aren't working there and the links are blank:sad:

06-28-2004, 06:14 AM
sorry, I will change the links:sad:

06-28-2004, 06:35 AM
that is a really sweet piece you've got there. it's too clean to be real. looks like a set piece from Shrek, or something like that.

the links don't work unless you copy/paste them. otherwise i get 403 forbidden.

06-28-2004, 06:44 AM
sorry I have a problem with host.
I'm try to change this today.

06-28-2004, 06:46 AM
yeah that is unreal, really love the night one.

great work dude, get an image up there on the page and you should be getting tons of replies:thumbsup:

06-28-2004, 09:50 AM
I had some problems to see the image but i got them. It is looking very nice i like more the night renders! Good work :)
just add some grain.

06-28-2004, 02:22 PM
Hi friends, now you can see all images !!

06-28-2004, 02:46 PM
Nice nice work how did you make the textures ?

06-28-2004, 03:34 PM
Thats awesome modeling. I think for it to look realistic, the textures have to be dirtier. Other than that it looks real good.

06-28-2004, 03:42 PM
I made the texture with a some photo that I have and I mix all.

06-28-2004, 04:18 PM
Grande Luciano!!

06-29-2004, 05:41 AM
Hi Mr. Marius
I'm work with the visualization also...and I using the 3D Studio Max....

Thanks a lot

06-29-2004, 06:11 AM
this is amazing work!!!

a little dirt would be nice, although don't overdo it...the tower bridge is pretty dam clean anyway (except the graffiti on the blue iron - not a lot)...

if you really want to make it look like London then I would modify the background map...the land around the bridge is flat not a sloping hill, and the high rise buildings are not so residential but more differing modern office styles...

I have linked 3 pics (2 not so good quality)...but I hope they will be of some assistance to you! If I ever take more I can e-mail them to you if you wish (just pm your e-mail addy or something)...anyways keep up the amazing work!!!

PS - t3 is looking west into the city, t1 is looking more eastwards.

06-29-2004, 07:35 AM
  amazing work!!

06-29-2004, 12:20 PM
Pôôôôôôôô... muito bom!!! :applause:
Sou iniciante e estou pasma com o "duas semanas" que você levou pra fazer! Isso me levaria 3 anos pra fazer!! hehehe
Parabéns pelo trabalho! Está excelente!
Que máquina que vc usou? Tempo de render?

06-29-2004, 02:58 PM
Damn, great work, love it! ThumbsUp!

06-29-2004, 03:25 PM
Beautiful bridge!

I agree you should work a little more on the dirt, specially the metallic parts of the day render.

Otherwise, parabéns!

06-29-2004, 04:19 PM

Como já havia dito pessoalmente, ficou ducara....!!!!
Parabéns mais uma vez, e boa sorte!

07-01-2004, 01:13 PM
nicely done mate, not everyday you see that... well in my case i do :). I see it everyday, and gotta say thats the closest ive seen anyone recreate it.

Keep it up.

07-01-2004, 01:30 PM
Very, very nice! Especially the night version. Great lighting there. :)

07-01-2004, 01:34 PM
Wow - This is terrific work... especially for not having much reference. Only crits being: I would probably actually dirty it up a little bit more and I *think* the London sky in the night version should be a little lighter... it is so dark it almost looks like the bridge is out in the country somewhere.

But that's maybe a little picky. :) Congrats on such a great piece!

07-01-2004, 01:49 PM
 amazing, as the rest of your work !

07-01-2004, 01:51 PM
wOW Kewl mann :) really nice

07-01-2004, 02:10 PM
Congratulations for the front Page Luciano !

Great work !!! As they mentioned b4, you should dirty up a little bit the bridge. Other than that you did a terrific job considering the timeframe.

Legal ver que temos muitos brazucas de talento aqui no CGTalk..Parabéns !

07-01-2004, 02:23 PM
Awesome work! Always inspiring.

07-01-2004, 03:00 PM
Where are the textures from?
are those textures made by you or did you buy them?
If so, where from?

07-01-2004, 03:41 PM
Great work ! :) The light set is really nice .

07-01-2004, 03:41 PM
amazing work. others have said it looks just a bit too clean, maybe some atmosphere would help! then it would be a photo

07-01-2004, 04:03 PM
i'd be interested in seeing some more info on how you textured it.

this is a great example of great 'traditional' lighting with a scanline renderer.

07-01-2004, 04:23 PM
I am curious as how you textured this thing. I see a lot of great resources on how to texture characaters, but nothing on environments.

Is it tiling overlayed with light/dirt maps? or several large maps over the uvs?

If you could explain your mapping process and perhaps even a small little sample of the various ones you used(bump, spec, displace?) it would be most helpful and much appreciated.

07-01-2004, 04:41 PM
Just fabulous, Terrific model :applause:

07-01-2004, 05:57 PM
still can't view the pictures :/

07-01-2004, 08:05 PM
Its an nice peace of art but at day somekind of church can be seen but at night its gone  did an nuke fall on it? :buttrock:

07-01-2004, 08:35 PM
This is definitely one of my favorite environment pieces. :applause:

07-01-2004, 10:00 PM
Congratulations, man.

Fantastic model, lights, composition, texture, everything!!!!!!

It would be intersting to see some details of your texture/lightening process.

Muito Bom!!!!! Brazucas Detonando!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

07-01-2004, 10:06 PM

07-01-2004, 10:33 PM

first of all, congratulations on your wonderful achivement! cheers
Fantastic, awesome image! i like them both.

then, i would like to post some ref. images here for you. i found that the big holes are not high enough compared with the real Tower's. see the images i showed you. and the width scale is not enough also.

the ref images address:

look forward to your next amazing art work!

07-02-2004, 01:38 AM

If you can't see, try to see here: (

07-02-2004, 02:29 PM
Thanks, Luc.

It does look great, but still I wouldn't mind knowing methodolgy of texturing. Do you take that small brick pattern repeat it in photoshop(or whatever) then start adding some uniqueness to it, or do you actually combine those photo examples in the 3d package then overlay different images on them to get the dirt and stains?

Just curious as how to approach texturing something of this scale.

07-02-2004, 02:57 PM
Excellent, especially considering the fact that you're not an architect. I should know since I am an architect.
Can you tell us about how you lit the scene? (how many lights, type,, etc. etc.)

07-02-2004, 03:59 PM
Thanks Mr. dino1054

I will made some pictures for to explain lights and textures and put here.

Thanks a lot

07-02-2004, 04:03 PM

07-02-2004, 05:22 PM
Luciano  !

I'm agree with the comment of dino1054

Excellent, especially considering the fact that you're not an architect. I should know since I am an architect.

I'm Landscape architect but I'm still impressed of your works (basilic and this one), really  Are you free-lance ?
Congrats again

07-02-2004, 09:15 PM

07-02-2004, 09:35 PM
Thanks Mr. dino1054

I will made some pictures for to explain lights and textures and put here.

Thanks a lot
Congratulations mate......................your work is an inspiration to others. Im interested in your lighting set up. Night lighting is an art in itself, and something I am having great difficulty with. Any chance of some screen shots of your set and settings. Am eager to see more of your work.

07-02-2004, 10:32 PM
well the modeling is really good. it seems to be detailed. the problem is with the textures on the metal part of the bridge which seems to be clashing with the stones. its just because the metal seems to be really new and rest of the stuff really old.
really cool otherwise!!:applause: :bounce:

07-02-2004, 10:54 PM
Well done!!

Perfect integration with the background!

07-03-2004, 04:49 PM

This is a great model! I work right along-side Tower Bridge (in the Mayor's City Hall), so I'm really used to looking at the amazing structure. I can see it out my window now, wow!

Your 3D piece really does the bridge justice! Great work!

Tone x

07-10-2004, 03:10 AM
Beautiful, the angle makes it look more like a minature, but it still look stunning.

Good job.

07-16-2004, 12:51 PM
impressive model, you can say to me that computer you use?

07-16-2004, 03:44 PM
great work .. my only crit is the shadows on the night version .. if they should be a little softer and it would be prefect .. but other than that, its amazing

07-16-2004, 10:30 PM
holy grain, luvly piece, agree about the metal frame work against the brick work issue of new against old? still....nice

07-22-2004, 02:46 AM
Hello friends,

I used Pentium4 512Ram DDR

Thanks a lot

07-22-2004, 12:31 PM
great work...!!!:applause:

08-05-2004, 04:32 PM
Thank you very much for all friends:thumbsup:

08-22-2004, 02:25 AM
it is great work but I would like to know what is the point? the technical work is very very good, but I'm sick to death of "realistic" images. "realistic" is not neccsaryly good...afterall I could just snap a pic of the bridge and it wil be absolutely real. A suggestion that I have is instead to put some creative lighting , change the mood a little. Just my 2 cents....still great stuff though

08-22-2004, 03:05 AM
it looks really sweet in a porfolio

08-22-2004, 04:51 AM
All critics are very important for me, thanks a lot friends:thumbsup:

08-22-2004, 05:11 AM
hmm i knind of agree with the sense that that scene could do with somew more interesting ligthing...but definately a great porfolio piece.

08-30-2004, 12:04 AM
Just one word... AMAZING...

I just started learning portugues

Well, really cool and detailed render!!!

08-30-2004, 02:16 PM

Grande abraço !

08-30-2004, 04:30 PM
Hi, Luciano

Really excellent work. Congrats!
For more references, this (great) site usually shots The London Tower as test target for digital cameras. If you dig around you´ll find more very hi-res pictures of the place. Look for "Photographic Tests" and "Samples" in several camera reviews.
