View Full Version : HDR/MAP lighting not using final gathering.
Heres a link to some HDR images I've preconverted into MAP files, theres about 30 of them.
I wondering if theres a way to light with MAP files that doesnt use Final Gathering. The skin shading network I have screws up if I use FG . Heres the MAP DOME shader I'm using.
Heres the skin shader I'm using, Both have been gleamed from this forum thanks to those who created these shaders groups
So I'm hoping theres a non final gathering solution to using HDR/MAP lighting.
Any help you guys can give me would be sweet.

by its nature HDRI lighting relies on having an environment casting lights, and that's only possible thru final gathering (the only way to have objects emitting explicit light themself).
the alternative is to use the lightrig tool to create a lighting rig from an HDR image, or writing your own tool to create a colour sensitive lightdome from an image.
I've been looking around the net for how to setup a light rig but I'm coming up blank. If you know of any tutorials or post that describe how you'd go about setting one up, that would be sweet. Thanks Jacko

Left toolbar-->Get-->Light-->Light rig from image.
Make sure your hdr isn't too big or it will take a long time to calculate
