EDIT: I swapped out a better compressed / smaller file. hope it helps.
EDIT: Removed previous mirror, website no longer available.

And, of course, a deep and sincere thank you to all my classmates, instructors, and mentors. It was an amazing experience to be surrounded by such talent.

Thank you.

Hey Jason,
It's looking great. I'm so happy we're done. Good luck finding work in Vancouver. When I'm back at the end of the summer, I hope you're still around!

Hi J!

Well, you came in with a strong vision, to make an awesome, B-movie horror flick made into a VFX reel, and you came out with just that!! It looks great, and I wish you all the best with the jobhunt. Stay in touch, and visit the treefort!!

PS--I'm adding a smilie for the heck of it!

dont know if this was intentional but someone in my class pointed out that right when the girl sees the monster she turns around and you can see everything.....ahem...hmm just thought id tell ya .

06-20-2004, 10:14 AM
I think that WAS intentional and actually it added a great deal to the reel :D

06-20-2004, 06:23 PM
excellent. nothing like a little controversy around your work. heh.

basically i was certainly aware there were a few frames of what looks like nudity. but...
a. i figured we're all adults and a nipple or two wouldn't hurt us, and...
b. she was wearing band-aids anyway, so she's not REALLY nude.

but if it means more people are viewing my work that's good right?

most of my mentors/instructors didn't think it would be an issue. and i didn't either. i figured the professionals viewing this won't think anything of it and the non-professionals... well they need all the nipples they can get.

06-20-2004, 08:43 PM
That's implying that I'm nonprofessional :D

06-20-2004, 09:41 PM
no, not at all. if it implies that, it's unintentional.

i was merely making a joke. i mean, who doesn't love nipples?

06-20-2004, 10:26 PM
nice reel man...just like what nora said..you had a vision and made it come to life.....good job man...oh ya..how do we post our stuff?lol..cheers man...

Your reel turned out spectacular Jason. I'm glad to see it. The final touches you've made on the lighting and texturing really worked out. Congratulations on finishing.

06-24-2004, 07:11 AM
wow, it's nice to see 3d in a b-style movie. if you ever go back to work on the project i think if the creature was semi-transparent so you could see its bones / circulatory system / organs and such, it would add a lot to the reel and the style. and nice job on the tracking and compositing.

Hey Jason,

I really love your creature with the spec on it..
Looks very nice.
Having fun at work?

well apparently my reel was a little better than i thought it was...

i got hired by rainmaker (www.rainmaker.com (http://www.rainmaker.com/)) to work on the 'elektra' movie.

so, while i was tempted to revisit my reel and fix a few things i wasen't 100% happy with, in light of my employment (and not nearly as much free time as i thought i'd have) i think i'll leave it like it is and concentrate my efforts on my next project...

JEFF - a rigged and ready to animate maya cartoon character.

'course this too will have to wait until i can get a new monitor. ARRRGH!!!

and thanks again for all the nice comments.

and mad-mad love to all my peeps in da 45 crew. y'all keep it real, know-what-i'm-sayin'?
