wouldn't "meeting the parents" make more sense? (not thinking of the movie)

just because you usually meet the others parents BEFORE you actually get married..

ah well.

06-12-2004, 05:26 PM
You know it's really scary :D

about half hour with pencil.

P.S. Sorry for quality. I don't have scanner and it's evenning here.

hm, I also had trouble with the topic. but anyway here's mine. I don't like it at all, but hey, men got to sleep sometimes :)

"You DO know that separation of family and business affairs is the key to a successful career, dad... ?"

Goro: excellent lighting, looks very much like your "monkey with guns" entry, when talking about mood.

J_Grieve: first thing that came into my mind, excellent execution :)

augustus: very cool

'.....well I had to meet yours'

I think I saw this gag in a cartoon or something, cant remember where? It's a Seance. Anyway about 100mins all in Painter/Wacom & having fun with the palette knives again. It's nearly there, should have gone for another hour or so but just too tired

J_Grieve - hehe like it
made in uterus - this is cool as well
Goro - heh, you cant beat a bit of monkey love, like the way the loose strokes pulls the focus to the Tarzan.
PaemrI - is this through a door viewer right?
Bonzo - looking nice, would've been cool to see more colour :)

I know this image is a bit paradoxal (for bacteria only duplicate themselves), however, I thought I could give it a funny twist, so I just gave it a try.

Adobe Illustrator: about 45 min.

Goro: The roughness of the picture creates much space for the imagination of the beholder. There's really a superb balance between this freedom of interpretation and the suggestions the image gives me. I like it a lot!

P.s. Sorry for the previous inconveniences with this image!

06-13-2004, 03:20 AM
Edited: Good looking out Zocarius... and a very cool concept. Cheers

06-13-2004, 03:41 AM
couldn't have said it better myself, JDex

btw, where's your sketch??.. HUH???

06-13-2004, 04:03 AM
Sketch 10 mins, about 1.5hrs in photoshop

"Oo! You'll finally get to meet Daddy!"

This was originally going to be the background to a fight scene or something, but I got lazy. You already know what's going to happen next, though.;)

06-13-2004, 04:44 AM
haha yes. This is so totally based off Bert, and it came to me RIGHT as I was about to go to bed. Enjoy :)

Btw. its a plate.

Goro: YOU ROCK geez i swear each picture makes me want more each time o_O

Good nigh (:

oop: 1 hour btw in photoshop

06-13-2004, 07:41 AM
is this through I door viewer right?

Yes, you guessed it right, I know, I should have made the area outside the circle black or much darker..

Btw Kieronh, your sketch is sweet...

06-13-2004, 07:51 AM
Wow! Not many post so far. I knew there would be fewer on the weekends but I still expected more than this. Lots of monsters, giants, beasts and of course brain matter sprayed up against a wall. Good stuff. I went with monster myself.

The sketching took about 45 minutes and the coloring took about 3 hours. I just finished at 3:45 am. I was debating whether to do this one at all when I was starting it around midnight. Glad I did. Now I can sleep without that on my mind.

06-13-2004, 08:02 AM
Shame I can't finish this one... it was going to be so much more.

PS 2+hrs

Oh yeah... here it is Bonzo!

*stumbles off to bed muttering something about MS passport... ;)

06-13-2004, 09:30 AM
some awesome entries thus far.. .wish there were more.. but what can ya' do?

i figgered there were gonna be the cliche` scary/intimidating - so i went ahead and illustrated a scene i actually endured.

the girls parents wanted to embarass her, so they put up streamers, balloons, a banner - welcoming me, and when we showed up - her mom bolted out the front door flailing her arms screaming "helllloooooooo son!!@!@!!11!" etc.

ah well - hope that helps.

PS - 2hrs

06-13-2004, 10:55 AM
