View Full Version : XSI: how to make "gaps" between car panels?

whats the best way to make the "gaps" between car panels in softimage: XSI?

this is for Hi res car model.
what i do now is grab the edge, duplicate (ctrl+d) and pull it in the car a bit, then duplicate again and pull it in. then it sorta makes a nice sharp edge. but it just doesnt look right...

I'm not sure what method you're using,but it really comes down to what the actual surface looks on close-up.

If there's a physically un-attached part,like panels,held by underhooks,then make them separate objects,it'll pay off to go as close as possible as the actual thing,from both a shading and manipulatability perspective.

just search the whole entire board for cars and junk

there are a few tutorials on here

u basically bevel a bunch and make sure a few edges are close together to define the shape when its smoothed
