hi guys;)

I used 3dsmax 6 with the defult scanline render and the raytrace advanced lighting and the only plugin that I use in this project was Digimation Stitch for the cloth, unfortionatly it runs only with 3dsmax5, So i hade to use 3dsmax5 to make the cloth then export it as 3ds to max 6.
I added color balance and blur render-effects in 3dsmax,I also made the ground and some of the goodies in bryce5 and then exported it into 3dsmax6 as 3ds files.
Most of the textures I made it by my self ,I went down strolling old Cairo areas with my camera taking photos, scanned and edited them using photoshop7 to make them textures, and of course there was the standard max textures and some other textures.

c&c are always welcome

some wires:)

06-09-2004, 07:48 AM
eclepos, good work, i like too much, your work with the illumination is superb, also, you only do postprocessing with default max?, or do some work with photoshop??, Good!

06-09-2004, 10:33 AM
Very well done. I like It a lot.

06-09-2004, 10:54 AM
I like a lot thumbsup: , but it seems to be to much glow effect ..... :

06-09-2004, 11:38 AM
Great work, but I find it a bit too much blured..
I think I prefer a sharper render.
But all together its a great render

06-09-2004, 02:44 PM
everything is so nice ! from the model, texture to the render ! good job !

06-09-2004, 02:54 PM
Awesome but a little too blurry for me..but that s great.. nice work

06-09-2004, 05:49 PM
Blurry, yet awesome

06-09-2004, 05:53 PM
Excellent stuff. It's more along the lines of a painting (what I think people were refering to as "blurry"). Reminds me of the souks and streets of Tunis from my travels there.

Great shot. My only comments would be to make the street dirtier and to evoke more emotion, set this up to be late afternoon or early morning where you get sun coming in and sharp shadows

front page!!!

06-13-2004, 02:10 AM
The model and topic is just great...especially when i just finished the movie Arabian Nights (2003) days ago.

As for my taste, i suggest the final image are sort of over photoshopped. Maybe you would like to lower a bit the glow and the blur level.

Well done!;)

06-13-2004, 03:02 AM

great work!!

06-14-2004, 06:19 AM
Extremely well done. You got the feel across perfectly.

It's hard to see any flaws in this one. The only thing I can think of is adding a few wires between the buildings further back, like the wires (or ropes?) on the buildings in the foreground. This is a pretty minor, subjective detail. I just bring it up because it would kinda give it a little more connected feel between the two sides of the street further back. But you do have the blanket, which works nicely.

Anyway, amazing work. Looks beautiful.

06-16-2004, 07:17 PM

Holy crap that is cool.

See, I wish I had the patience and dedication to do somthing like this. I'm constantly wishing I had the effort to build a detailed environment for my characters.

This type of work always blows me away.

Love the bloom effect too.

09-16-2004, 08:00 AM
Great job man! :bounce:

09-17-2004, 01:06 AM

What can I say. Absolutely beautiful!!!
I like the mood of the render.

09-19-2004, 07:46 AM
Nice render!

Is it insprired by a picture of Escher? It was really the first thing I thought about when seeing this. He made a picture of a desk going over to a street almost exactly like yours. But maybe it's just co´ncidence :)

09-19-2004, 08:29 AM
:) Congratulation am very happy for you :)

09-19-2004, 09:04 AM
I love these pictures!... maybe you know the orientalists paintings, by Ludwig Deutcsh or Lewis?... there are street in 19th century arabian country in their works which maybe pleased you!... one thing, (it's not a critic) I should like to see is the typical contrast in arabs country of ligfht very hard, and shadow very "crowded", due to the tissue linked above the streets... something about "mystery of orient and so on"... your lighting is very diffused, which iis good, but maybe another lighting options?... anyway, bravo!...

09-19-2004, 09:17 AM
its very good work .. but always there is place for coments :)

the perspective looks flat in rendering, thats because of the colors in far areas.

another things that would help the images, its the color scale, i think u need colored shadows to make it more alive rather than dark gray shadows..

i took the image and paint some colors on photoshop to get what i mean.

09-19-2004, 09:34 AM
thanks every body for the nice things you said
it really means some thing to me
Pjanssen..thanks :) must be a coincidence..i never saw that one you talk about..can you post a link to it:)

celmar ..thank man..i do love the orientalists paintings..i know what you mean

firas.thanks ..:) .you said colored shadows to make it more alive rather than dark gray come ?? it gonna make it look like a painting more than a live scene

thank you all very much

09-19-2004, 09:52 AM
Ecleposs, take any real photo, u'll find that all shadows has colors :) the trick is how to choose shadows colors.

09-19-2004, 10:27 AM
nice stuff , i like your texture work

09-19-2004, 10:30 AM
Pjanssen..thanks :) must be a coincidence..i never saw that one you talk about..can you post a link to it:)
Ok, forget what I said :) I found the picture, but it's not really the same at all.
It's just the first thing I thought about when I saw your picture....

Again, very nice work!

09-19-2004, 10:37 AM

09-19-2004, 11:18 AM

09-19-2004, 11:33 AM

09-20-2004, 08:08 AM
really cool work man..very impressive job

09-20-2004, 10:18 AM
Great work-!! and I like the soft feel washed out colors used here,
I think this makes is much more appealing as you already did:):)

Good Job Brother and Keep on Rendering-!!

09-20-2004, 10:21 AM
Great work, you suceeded in capturing the feeling of many old mediterranean cities.

My main concern, to make critics are

- some stone walls are too sharp, like modern concrete. Try to make them more irregulars IMHO
the best exemple is the small column/arcade window on the left.

- some furnitures (bags, pots etc.) could be more textured.

but overall, that is nice.

09-20-2004, 11:00 AM
thank you all guys:)

Way to go!!! :applause:

09-20-2004, 11:26 PM
very nice work, although an added touch of realism through animals would take it up a notch! :applause:
