View Full Version : Movie poster: 492 B.C. 3D+2D

This is for my admission work at my feature school. I had to write a film script in 30 lines, and create a movie poster for it.
I've chosen to write a movie around the discovery of America by the Vikings from Norway. B.C. here stand for Before Columbus. who discovered America 492 years after the vikings in 1492.
The viking was basicly my first character model, and the indian the second, so don't be to hard on me :) I've been skinning for a while, though the indian guy had to be rushed. The indian skin was done in 2 hours + 20 more minutes for a quick bump map.
The indian is around 700 polygons, and the dwarf around 2200 (the whole bust).
*the brand logos in the bottom of the poster are just there for the feeling of a real poster. Same with the names, just there to fill up the space. Some names may be a little familiair even
Here are some extra shots:
Skin so far
Poster in earlier stage.
Hope you dig :)

Nice! Why not give the Viking his helmet on the poster?

Look great, but the viking originated from denmark, norway (that under that time was under the danish kingdom) and sweden.. But I've never heard of any vikings comming from greenland, they discovered it, but as far as i know they didn't live there...
Anyways, looks pretty cool.

heh I liked the way the light works on that bold head, with the nice glow around it. It gave the thing a cool feeling, and I liked it better without his helmet :).
I was hoping for some more replies though...
edit: btw you're right, changed it to Norway, little error in my brain which hadn't got rest in a while :P

hey common, ... brilliant work btw.... they were not from norway, but they were from Iceland.
Eric the red was born in Norway but was kicked out so he moved to Iceland, there he had a kid called Leifur Heppni who found America. The family was kicked out of Iceland so they moved away and found Greenland, that was Eric the red who did that. His son Leifur wanted his own exploring so he went and found America... where he was kicked out so he went back to Greenland with his father. And no one knows what happened to the viking settlers in greenland, some say they were killed by the local inuits and some say they just migrated with the inuits and faded away.
