hi guys.
this is a digital painting study done after vermeer's girl with a red hat.
the image i stole is in a book titled "vermeer and painting in delft" written by axel ruger.
to steal the secrect from vermeer i used photoshop cs, painter 7.0 and wacom tablet as my keys.
i enjoyed it and wish you enjoy it too.

Very nice. Spot on, as far as the form goes.

I saw the original at a Vermeer exhibition at the NYC Met a few years ago. It struck me that your colors are very muted compared to the original (well, at least to this jpeg of the original):

I don't think that's a bad thing, but what I miss compared to the original is the way Vermeer made highlights almost blinding: in this case, the ruff of her collar and, to a lesser extent, her left cheek and right shoulder.

Nevertheless, excellent work, overall.

Hi, guypapyrus.
gooood to see another origianal painting. it is way more saturated than my book. and i like your saying "making highlight almost blinding". Thanks.
