I was wondering if its professional, to have triangles in character models to be used in animated movies or game cinematics? I've had my mentality beaten, into thinking that only quads are allowed on these types of models, from my instructors at school.

One reason I ask, is because I've seen some excellent models here on CGTalk, and sometimes I spot the modeller having triangles on areas I wouldn't expect. Anyways, I look forward to your comments about this. :)

if you are going to end up with a very bent face it may pay to make 2 triangles out of it. Quads are nice but if you need a triangle you might as well use it.

I don't fear a few triangles but usually I'll use them in an area such as inside the ear or under an inanimate skin fold...
