Im still new to Rhino/3dmodeling.... Been doing it for about 4 months.

Show off some of your NURBS projects

Well I had been using AutoCAD for about 6 years before I started rhino and the 2 programs have a very similar layout which made it very easy for me to get started with rhino.

Most of the renderings are of objects I had laying around the house. I just used various measuring tools to get what I needed to create the models. Things like the swimming pool and raceing turtle were pure imigination.

I would suggest starting out with tutorials on the website

heehee, look in the sig man!
Maya 6.0 and Mental Ray... heres another update, nicer composition, and better color scheme I think! :D

added a fresnel effect to the materials, making them more realistic, and I also included the HDRI background instead of comping it out. :D

Lightwave only has meta nurbs... it's wip...some things not attached or modeled yet

MetaNURBS, HyperNURBS are not NURBS per se. They are just marketing terms. They are all Sub Division Surface.

I like that a lot its kool, I dont know a lot about nurbs, but from seeing that pic, I am going to try it. one question how many polys would that be?

Here's my contribution. Modeled in Rhino3D over the course of a month or so (wasn't working on it full-time). I'm now in the process of remodeling this using polygons (I haven't settled on a polygon modeling tool but it looks like it's going to be XSI|Foundation) because I'd like to be able to animate this when completed. Currently, I can only get the polygon count down to around 65,000 before artifacts become visiable (this is just the head- think about when the thing is completed). I'll be using the same construction curves, though (exported as an IGES file).

I like modeling using Rhino because I come from a traditional CAD background. Although I've moved on to do something else (systems programming), 3D modeling is still my primary hobby. Enjoy and crits/comments are all welcome.

here is mine.
orginally it was a clay model which was made by me and a friend.
after the clay model was finnished we scanned a bunch of pices and then combined and patched it in rapid formz.
the result was not that good so i had to do a lot of refinements in maya.

hi guys this is my first nurbs character model.i cudnt complete it bcos my computer configuration is too low .i dont have the financial support to buy a nice one.currently i did this work in celeron processor with 20gb hd.(u all cud guess how misserable cud it b)here is the work
i did it in maya.
