Hi there!

Walking around I stepped in to a Guillermo Fernandez de Castro’s Lithography, and a thought came to my mind: “that can be a nice render” and that’s the inspiration for this scene.
This scene took about 2 months of work, basically because I was using only my free time to work on it.

in a few days im going to post the link of tutorial¡¡¡¡¡¡

Nice work!

- I really like the plants at the top of the image
- The tree on the left looks great except for the discolored edges.
- The walls at the top left seem too smooth, but I like the texture.
- With such a large render, it will be easier to find the mistakes.
- I found that a lower res version looks a lot better.

Oh my !

That is really amazing work. Nothing more to say really, its just jaw-dropping !

05-23-2004, 02:51 AM
would you be able to shrink the size of this image, it is so big and some people with slow modems may have problems. Most people when they see a large image that is slow loading will move on to the next image.

Very nice, well done :)

The only thing that bothers me is the wood texture on your doors... it's fine, but looks exactly the same on each door. I'd change it up a little so it doesn' t look as uniform.

LOVE the lighting and textures though

05-23-2004, 03:15 AM
that really is gorgeous work.

05-23-2004, 03:32 AM
Cool....can't wait for the tutorial

05-23-2004, 03:55 AM
well great work you got there....
the tree to the right is the best part of pic...
i agree with Imatk about the wood texture...

and the ground is too flat....a bump or displacement would help....

05-23-2004, 03:57 AM
HOLY DOOLY! Thats a GREAT image!!

Awesome work!! You aer greatly deserving of a

Fantastic textures.

If this was posted a week ago when i had dial up i would have never seen it. Looks good. Nice lighting and textures. I agree about the wood texture, needs some tweaking.
Might want to post a smaller resolution if you want more replies.

cool light

05-23-2004, 07:15 AM
beautiful. I love seeing work like this because it gives me drive to keep improving my own work.

as to the small amount of replies tho, it may simply be that people dont feel they have things to contribute to it, in my case ive never done any image of this quality so i dont quite feel like i can properly crit it.

I really like this image. The mood (lighting and slight fog effect) and textures are first rate!

From an architectural structure point of view, the model looks good. The only problems I can see are, the upper ledge, on the far wall, looks a little under supported, and a bit odd in its construction method. Also, the stone lintels, above some of the doors and windows, are broken up into several pieces, all with vertical seams. It might be better to angle the seams to form a flat arch, like...

This... [ \ \ / / ] Not this... [ | | | | ]

Or make it out of a solid piece of stone, much like the wooden lintel above the far door. This way the weight of the wall will look like it is distributed to both sides of the doorway. Also, try to make the keystones in all the arches, a little more defined.

Again, it’s an excellent image. Keep up the good work.

some stuff that could be improve for the special edition.

- higher textures size (on the top left above all, you have a low rez texture on the wall next to high rez textures "door and pillar" :( )
- lack of dirt in some corners
- lack of some little chamfers on certain part (around the doors for ex.)
- you could have make some part more irregular. little cracks & holes in the pillars for ex.
- little stuff on the floor (rocks?) to catch light and create shadows to make it less flat.
in fact a displacement on the floor would have been breaks all perfect linear shadows. And grows a little bit on the walls.

anyway nice work.

Impressive work nothing to say :)
oh yes, a the top left, the brick texture change rotation and there is no rason to .

 WONDERFULL WORK also

05-23-2004, 04:40 PM
Wondering work ! I wery waiting the tuturial ! :buttrock:

05-23-2004, 04:51 PM
Umm, I don't actually like it. It is too plain render for my taste. and too obvious 3D. I would have loved to see more detailed texture work in the stone bouders and the wooden bars under the balcony need more detail.

05-23-2004, 05:01 PM
Great job:thumbsup:

05-23-2004, 08:39 PM
Beatiful image. I really like all the tuxtures in it.

05-23-2004, 09:50 PM
nah.. size is fine. People will wait for it.
nice work, man... but it has not the detail for that big size.. half size it look two times better..

nice textures!!
maybe the ground seems a little bit flat.

05-23-2004, 10:01 PM
Absolutely stunning work

05-23-2004, 10:11 PM

Great image, I love the mood and the textures.

A well deserved front page and in your first post!

05-24-2004, 07:06 AM
nice. The modelling is moderate imho, but te lighting compensates for that. Nice composition too.

05-24-2004, 08:39 AM
very nice work

05-24-2004, 10:00 AM

Nice picture.

I read through all the replys but no one mentioned the blurred tree in foreground. Depth of field. As photographer, for me it looks a bit unnatural. The lens looks wide and well stopped so the tree had to come out more sharp OR the background must be blurred more.

BUT if you sharpen the tree than it becomes rather disturbing.

Its up to you.

But once again,

Nice picture

05-24-2004, 05:52 PM
nice one daniel, congratulations and welcome to cgtalk , I think this image is really nice talking about mood and enviroment, some of the textures need work as well as the foreground plant, the depth of field is wrong, the composition is good and the colors correct , the shadows are too sharp to me, anyway I think you've learned very well so far , and I'm sure your next work will be awesome

05-24-2004, 09:32 PM

Hello again Daniel, I followed your link to the tutorial. Well done, the hacienda piece displays a wonderful variety of effects. All widely applicable to other types of projects. Good approach to the lighting and your textures are great, showing depth, diversity in color, and substance appearance. Thanks, I'll use the tutorial as homework this summer. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

This is a new version of mi piece La Hacienda
this version have a lot of changes, and more detail, check the details and a new full image
The important change of this version in my opinion, is the floor, and the blured plants are deleted.

And this is the final image: (
