What is a good range to aim for when modelling a human head with polys? I know it's ultimately whatever the modeller him/her-self decides, but I just want to get an idea of what would be too many...

-I'm certain this question has come up before in the past, but I did a search and was overwhelmed by the number of pages to sift through...

Can't really say for sure, as it all depends I suppose on just how much detail one goes with, maybe 600-800 in boxy stage before subdividing-

here's a very decent tut for a female head though- in case you havn't seen it already

-I think that I would agree with your suggested range of 600-800 polys.
-Personally I never use tutorials, but thanks anyways...
