Udv foldi!

5 stars!!!!!!

Congartulation!

05-19-2004, 10:31 AM
excellent work.

You could pay some attention to the hand, it's deforming in an odd way.

Very nice though,

05-19-2004, 10:34 AM
incredible, nice environment. and yes, also unic problem is the hand.

05-19-2004, 10:41 AM
just saw this at XSIbase. Great work. I think you could add some wrinkles to Laurel. is the compositing done in FXtree?

05-19-2004, 10:42 AM
yeah thats great. you're obviously going for that old film effect, but it would be good to see some more scratches and lines added in post to get the right feel. and maybe the hand needs fixing. good stuff.

05-19-2004, 10:43 AM
Mint m├ír otthon is ├_rtam, nagyon rendben van ez a munka. Gratul├ílok!
Congratulation! This is fantastic work. You did your job!

05-19-2004, 10:50 AM
Yup... :) Frontpage, Award.

Great picture! Only the hair's a bit off, but I think it's not really that important at all.

- A.

05-19-2004, 10:52 AM
boah cool! :bounce:
thats awesome ... can we see a Wire + Scene-Set ? :applause:

05-19-2004, 11:09 AM
Thanks for all the comments!
Modeled and rendered in XSI. For preparing the composit Photoshop was used. the effect was prepared in Digital Fusion.

05-19-2004, 11:16 AM
You may want to consider making Stan's face a little thinner.

It's possible that in later years he put on weight, but in his prime, he was extremely thin.

But this is very minor. At first, I thought it was a photo.

05-19-2004, 11:18 AM
Great piece
you got the characters very well
Waiting fro teh animation :)

I have 2 minor crits-
the hair on forehead look painted
theres light shining through his jacket, as if he kept a lit torch inside :p

05-19-2004, 11:29 AM
xtremly good......

05-19-2004, 11:29 AM
I'd swear that is a shot from the movie... Amazing work you got there

05-19-2004, 11:48 AM
Man totally shocked. I thought it was a photo for a sec till i scrolled down and saw wirefames. Great stuff. Good to see it got to the Front page!!

05-19-2004, 11:56 AM

Here you go have a drink!

05-19-2004, 12:17 PM
Meg egyszer gratulalok!!!
Fantasztikus!!! :applause:

05-19-2004, 12:22 PM
Yeah, Stan should look skinnier, but besides that, it┬┤s almost a resurection. Congrats!

05-19-2004, 12:57 PM
Szia! :)
Ez 5 csillagos munka!!
Gratulálok!! Nagyon eltaláltad a karaktereket!!

05-19-2004, 01:04 PM

05-19-2004, 01:30 PM
Impressive - but give us the background story !

What did you use? How long did it take? Why did you make it? :bounce:

05-19-2004, 01:36 PM
Really great work!!!:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

05-19-2004, 01:40 PM

Absolutely an Awesome work. Even black and white pallete gives a superb atmosfere. Everything is very well modelled and textured.

05-19-2004, 01:59 PM
you will find one (a job ; )

05-19-2004, 02:02 PM
Excellent modelling and texturing; you've captured their essence really well.

However, I do think the lighting really lets the image down. Hardy's chin is almost black underneath, and Laurel's ear has a dark shadow right under it.

Perhaps adding a rimlight and some soft highlights will really bring the image to life.

Sorry for the crit, I do love the piece, I just think the lighting could make it look so much better.

Cheers.

05-19-2004, 02:04 PM
I'm sure there are some details to tweak, but for the moment, I don't even want to think about them. I just want to enjoy the work. I was a big Laurel and Hardy fan as a kid, and you absolutely NAILED the feeling, expression, and chemistry between the two of them. This is really great. Are you planning to animate?

05-19-2004, 02:05 PM

Cool. I have already seen your work on, but i tell you again its awesome. You can see so little of these kind of pictures nowadays, although they "shine" pleasent feeling, so as your picture. Grats!

05-19-2004, 02:34 PM

This is Fantastic!! Very Nice Work!

Nagyon jól sikerült. Gratulálok!

05-19-2004, 03:03 PM
that belongs in an art gallery instead of on this site. INCREDIBLE work! The only thing that made clear this wasn't a photo, is that laurels face is a bit too fat, and there's also something wrong with his eyes (like he is very tired or something). And the pointing finger from hardy is a bit off too ... Other than that = amazing.
If you showed only hardy's face people would think you showed them a photograph. And your "suit-material" really blows me away !!!
I bet the job offers will come in soon with a piece like that!

05-19-2004, 03:20 PM
Wow. How long did that take you to model? Its so clean. All polys in right place (or splines wateva). Id love to know how long that took. Anyone else got a rough estimate from just one reference pic of that scene, and all from scratch??

05-19-2004, 03:43 PM
Modelling time four day, texturing, lighting, rendering, compositing four day too.
Some reference picture:

05-19-2004, 04:10 PM
LOL no real crits.. and I'm from the same town as Stan.... however I would like to see a render from a different angle almost just for the sake of it.

05-19-2004, 04:21 PM
:applause: :applause:
I LIKE IT VERY MUCH

05-19-2004, 10:25 PM

05-20-2004, 12:59 AM
It looks like real!

Phenomenal work!

05-20-2004, 01:11 AM
Very nice. I hope you have plans to do at least a little animation with them. They were so funny in the movies... maybe you could grab a sound file from one of the movies and lipsynch to it.

Are you a big Laurel and Hardy fan or did you just see a picture and all of a sudden get inspired to model them? Either way, great job!

05-20-2004, 01:21 AM
Really nice, though I don't recall the skinny guy having a double chin. Also, the pose of the pointing hand is a bit tweaked, especially his middle finger.

05-20-2004, 04:30 AM
seriously that is excellent. post wire frame please.

05-20-2004, 04:34 AM
Original AND awefully well executed.. You need to pad your own back.

05-20-2004, 07:09 AM
Oh my ! This is stunning work.

I have been a huge Laurel & Hardy fan since about 9 years old.
Got the books, videos and just having the new Univerals 21-DVD set shipped to me. So yeah... Im well into Stan & Ollie,

This image captures them beautifully. Its just great that someone has taken the time to model these two kings of comedy and immortalised them in this way.

Obviously to see them animated or a small movie would be the ultimate, but Im sure thats a whole other issue.

This is really great as its not a subject matter I expected to crop up, especially in this quality and with this attention to detail.

The expression in Ollie's face is just spot on ! :)

Well done on a very much deserved front page spot !
Brillilant !

BTW, go grab a job with Universal Studios and lets get a 3D movie out of these two legends :) :)

05-20-2004, 08:04 AM
sweet!!!!:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

05-20-2004, 08:04 AM

05-20-2004, 09:56 AM
Awesome.... got some nice facial characteristics to !

05-20-2004, 10:54 AM
wow. like everyone else, I am amazed.

only crit: the clothes look quite stiff.

05-26-2004, 03:07 AM
Man, its a terrific piece of work... I've been a fan of Laurel and Hardy all my life.

The ONLY crit I have, and I've noticed a few of us mentioning Stans "fatness", but the first thing i thought when I saw the pic was that Stans head should not be that long/deep, if you know what I mean?

Keep up the goodness :applause:

07-08-2004, 03:21 PM
great work!! great effect!! really got the...'feeling' ,hahaha nice

07-14-2004, 07:03 AM
Beautifully done......

07-15-2004, 05:56 AM

What is your favorite skit/movie? Mine used to be "Music Box", but then I saw "Big Business" and had to stop the video 3 times because I was laughing so hard.

01-14-2005, 06:56 PM
Mmm, something new, somthing extraordinary...

01-28-2005, 07:25 AM
Simply great! Way to go from concept to finished work and carry it off with style!!

04-01-2005, 09:20 AM
very nice job man i must say. why is it that mainly only us hungarians know about laurel and hardy ^^. they are sooo funny i swear. (yes i am hungarian)

ok now on to commenting. stanley is the man. literally. =P. the only problem is that his forehead is sticking out too much. it should have been flatter. and his neck is good, except for the extra layer of skin.. =P. stanley was never chubby. lol.

ollie... hmm... very good on this one. you made hia face more circular than it should be. and his eyes are bigger in your version (not sure if you did this on purpose or not). and yes his hand is a little stiff.

other than that, VERY good job. ^_^

10-18-2005, 03:06 PM
i like these, i know people are going on about the hand but I think that is an easy thing to fix if you can. I really like it, these models would look amazing in an animation. Are they rigged and ready to go?

11-16-2005, 12:01 AM
This was a funny idea! Good resemblance. (
