Damn :( Thread deleted by the crash server

I hope u enjoy it and thx for the first answers on the ancient serveur :)

05-14-2004, 06:39 PM
this is almost perfect !
i love how you played with the volumes & the lights
just tweak the skin shading, but i read (before the crash) that you plan to do to this ...

i suggest, maybe you read it already, "In praise of shadow", a book by Junichiro Tanizaki. It deals about light & shadow aesthetic in the Japanese culture, a classic, but a f***ing exciting book :) (translated to french:hmm: )

05-17-2004, 10:53 AM
As usual ,very good my friend !
I like how the light works...

No luck with the data lost ! :hmm:

fraa: thanks for the suggestion.

05-18-2004, 09:46 AM
thx for ur comments :)

Yep, the data lost is a big f..... d... sh... But anyway, i work actually on a new pic.

05-18-2004, 10:51 AM
u done a good work on the hair
but the face~
a little gray

05-19-2004, 03:07 PM
terrific image.
i especially like the hair and those bone-like armor parts. the mood in general is also very good .
wonderful stuff as always from you.

05-19-2004, 03:16 PM
Unreal the style.

05-19-2004, 06:15 PM
beautiful image... just like your every other work.... love the hair and light.... very nice work....

05-20-2004, 01:30 AM
Very nice.. I like the coldness of the image. I have nothing to crit on. Well done

05-20-2004, 08:23 AM
luff it!

05-20-2004, 09:42 AM
hum, I've already seen those towers somewhere ... ;)
Really nice picture, my only comments is that the lightning could be more dramatic. Good Stuff !

05-20-2004, 07:13 PM

good job :applause:

05-20-2004, 08:31 PM
Excellent work!

Have you some cloth simulation on this picture? Do you use it in other pictures?

05-20-2004, 10:03 PM
Thx Shoaib :)

Frenkie : Not for this pic but normally i use reactor for that.

05-20-2004, 10:17 PM
Looks really awesome, is this going to be an animation at all or just the picture?

05-20-2004, 10:27 PM
Just a picture :/

In general I produce this kind of pic just to relax me after the work. An animation is too much big for a simple relax time.

05-21-2004, 01:28 AM
What program do you use?

05-21-2004, 02:27 AM
Looks Awesome anyway. I was wondering if for the armor pieces like the big ones on her legs, do you just model those and position them, or did you actualy attach them to her somehow like they would be in real life? And is there anyway I could see a wireframe of this picture? Would help me alot!

05-21-2004, 03:39 AM
yea wat soft is that done in?

05-21-2004, 04:20 AM
Vivid picture,nice feel and mood. :)

05-21-2004, 05:59 AM
cool work technically, but also great costume design, lighting, colour etc. Something u don't always see in digital work.

Really nice

05-21-2004, 07:15 AM
Thx :)

Jynks : it's done with maya just to create a low polygon very simple. Zbrush to sculpt in detail and 3d studio max to render and make the composition an lightning

05-21-2004, 07:58 AM
ben c'est normal, :bounce:

wé, veux la video moi :)

je saurai attendre le wire :scream:

congrats again for you man ;)

ps: the picture is for yourself or for you society ??

05-21-2004, 08:09 AM
myself :) .. a simple subject in the light of the moon to relax me.

Actually i prepare the final release for my professionnal arworks of this year. 8 pic in high res for shellshock nam 67 and some sketchs and designs.
I'm waiting the 30 th june to have the full rights.

05-21-2004, 08:19 AM
Very, very nice

Any chance to see before/after wires (lowpoly wires and the wires after Zbrush)?

In any case, good work. Best of luck with your future endeavours :)

05-21-2004, 01:45 PM
Awesome! :)

05-21-2004, 02:07 PM
Nice work!

The one thing I noticed about your work is all the textures look very realistic except for the faces. The faces look very much like a porcelain doll. It may be a style thing I dont know. I really like your work!

05-21-2004, 02:59 PM
Not much to say but your work is beautiful.
really amazing.

05-21-2004, 04:19 PM
Hi Dude.

This one has much more density than your previous ones. Really cool. I think you should play a bit with contrast and lights, (just some photoshop stuff) to make it more "dramatic" as people said before;)
Anyway, very cool. ( Did i talked about the background characters? well, it's excellent, leaves too, grass also).

Brightness and contrast, Hue and saturation, is all you need now, just my opinion, that is to say the one of someone who's unable to make clean pictures!!

05-21-2004, 07:51 PM

I'm really happy to see ur comments.
E338, merci for ur greetings, this we specialy, I try a new version with a modification constrat light hue and saturation.

05-21-2004, 08:02 PM
Blimey that's rather lovely...

Like others have mentioned the skin is the only thing that looks a little odd to me.

5 stars from me!

05-21-2004, 08:28 PM
ah ., excellent work xavier, your work is truly inspiring to me, esepecially since you bring all those elements (not just 3d) to create a superb composition and great artwork , keep it coming , :)

05-21-2004, 08:31 PM
I still don't get the hands...but I like the pic.

Congrats on your second front page plug!

05-21-2004, 08:34 PM
WHAO! XAV...I simply LOVE it!!! Great design and

05-21-2004, 09:25 PM

05-21-2004, 09:45 PM
no crits really ... awsome work
i'm most amazed by the leaves ...
congratiulations ...

05-21-2004, 10:08 PM
Gorgeous. I also like the fact that there are no trees rendered in the picture, but it seems like the warrior is in the midst of a lot of trees.

05-21-2004, 10:18 PM
tjs content de te voir ici... J'adore l'esprit du vent.
Belle réal, tu t'envole ^^

05-21-2004, 10:37 PM
You have like what, 5 or so pieces of work that have been plugged on Cgtalk? Sheesh.. I will be happy one day to get atleast one:D You are an excellent artist my friend. I hope to see even more from you in the future.:bounce:

05-21-2004, 10:45 PM
finally on front page =) Gj again...

05-21-2004, 10:46 PM
kickass work
very good every thing just great
ur work amazing:thumbsup:

05-21-2004, 10:53 PM
it looks awesome, but i don't understand the pose. what is she doing? what are her hands supposed to be doing?

05-21-2004, 10:58 PM
nice atmosphere and modelling. Wow that Z-brush is something else, I really have to try it.

Two things that immediatly stand out are the poor sillouhette of the character and the grass at the bottom which looks like a stock Photoshop brush. I think if the character had a stronger pose, it would add a lot to this...I can't tell what she's supposed to be doing right she whistling...chewing on her nails? The eye gets lost trying to figure it out. It's just not clear.

anyways, cool work!

05-21-2004, 11:27 PM
Congratulations with your front page Xav!

05-21-2004, 11:36 PM

I had already replied before the crash server about this strange hand position. I was inspired by a photo of actress. Exactly in this kind of position and when I have seen this photo I had the same question than you. and I'm alway without response. That's also the case here.

Blackarts -> it's an honor to see ur comment on this thread. I'm admirator from ur concept artwork and specially this one artwork from Blackarts (

Erik -> U miss me at guerrilla ;) go baaaacckkk plz

05-22-2004, 12:13 AM

05-22-2004, 02:23 AM
She looks like the girl from battle angel alita (Gunmm)

05-22-2004, 02:46 AM
Reminds me of Tenchu.. Love the atmosphere...

05-22-2004, 02:56 AM
God I can't wait to get my copy of Zbrush 2 for my pipe- thankfully it finally shipped and should be here any day (those guys were backed up at pixologic for a month or so- no surprise given how awsome this program is) Totally awsome work!!

05-22-2004, 06:19 AM
Nice picture. I really like the cool colors that you used.

05-22-2004, 10:41 AM
I'll be back monday ;-) lol

I have seen enough of my bed for the coming time, feeling all better now!

05-22-2004, 10:59 AM
Far far the most beautiful render I've seen in MONTHS! (The last being a model of Me *hohoho!*) The passion. I could see the story unfold just by the look in her gaze. Is she facing the past or the future? Is she in danger or maybe wondered if she turn off the iron...we'll never know, but it rocks non-the-less brethuren!
Seriously, it's indeed a work of art. Bravo! :arteest:

05-22-2004, 11:44 AM
WOW! This is AWESOME! Really STUNNING WORK! You're the KING! Your work is really inspriring!

Just 2 questions:
1) Can you please post a wire?!
2) *Spreek je geen Nederlands? Op je website staat dat je alleen Frans en Engels spreekt, terwijl je wel in Amsterdam woont! :wavey: * Do you speak Dutch?

05-22-2004, 11:57 AM
Really nice work. You can almost hear the wind....

Cold but calm atmosphere

05-22-2004, 12:17 PM
A wonderful masterpiece! You really deserve the front page, man!
I love the grass effect. Very realistic. ;)

05-22-2004, 02:13 PM
Pascal Blanché -> merci bcp pour ton post ;)

Tesselated -> tenchu is completely awesome. I'm addicted

Nebcat -> "Far far the most beautiful render I've seen in MONTHS!" ... lol
"Is she facing the past or the future?" only you can give the response.

Dutchman -> no, i cant speach dutch sorry, just french or english. :/

05-22-2004, 02:14 PM
Go Go! Xav GO GO!!:bounce:

05-22-2004, 04:19 PM
I think the only thing that ruins the picture is the fact that I don't know what she is doing [with her hands]. Other than that, excellent!

05-22-2004, 07:00 PM
Your'e always make the good art Xav
hmm that Zbrush Soft. seems make better detail

05-22-2004, 09:40 PM
Solidgraphi -> the hair create with Shag hair in Max

05-23-2004, 12:12 AM
Man, I just LOVE U're stuff!!

05-23-2004, 10:46 AM
As i already told you i love your Heroine ;)
The mood is intriguing, rich of tension but not too serious at the same time (i dig those dissacratory elements like the big X and the cartoonish decorations and proportions)

Nice style, keep it up !

05-23-2004, 12:56 PM
Awesome man  , but I think it's a general rule of thumb especially with me; no scars on the females, and they always have to be hot bitches. :bounce:

Take that into consideration next time. :)

Think horny.

05-23-2004, 03:08 PM
Hej Xav, good to see you on the frontpage!(after all ;))

Dark Soldier
05-24-2004, 08:39 AM

Ya know, it's kinda funny when your surfing the net and run across a familiar picture. At first, I thought it was maybe on some other site, but after taking a second look, I remember now. I'm currently a student at the Art Institute of California, and in a photoshop class I had about three months back, a student turned in a piece that looked remarkably like the piece you have. (the same one). Everyone in class knew that it wasn't his and was taken from some where or another. He had a lo res version, no layers, not to mention, he told everyone he did it in Illustrator. Well, now I know where it came from. Just to let ya know, the student failed out of the school, and I think was arrested for possession.

The best part of the story is that the piece only got a B, (before the teacher threw it back in his face and failled him). Well, anyway, I like it a lot! We all knew that whoever did it had some tallent, and we all knew he didn't
