CGTalk has been screwin' up big time lately. I always get "server too busy".

I had a chance to glance at Howard's post this morning, but didn't get too far into it. Please repost Howard!!!!

Those nasty hackers. Why pick on CGTalk? I hope they really beef up the security here. There was some nice info on these forums. Now all gone since the 5th May, inc this thread.

well that blows ass! :p
and i just wrote that nice little tut...which I seldomly do! now Im too lazy to do it again! ;)
hmmm, maybe instead Ill record a tut video example instead?
Here are the old samples (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=134042&highlight=ink)

by the way, 5TEF, I think that ink looks cool! Kinda like 1980s Flash Gordon clouds made with ink in water, or like an Octupus Ink?
Lets see it animated!

Hi Howard,

here is your little tutorial ( thx btw ), but a video would nice as well, or the actual files ;) If you need some hosting space, let me know, I have some spare bandwidth ;)

Anyway, here is the tut:

1. Make an emitter, clone it and parent it to the first.

2. Set Parent to spit out particles. Lets say 100 per second and make them
move!...set lifetime to 0!

3. Add a wind to swirl the particles around like ink in water. hehe, I
know...how? well, play with winds to control your paths....

4. For the trail, set the Child to spit out particles when parent spits out
particles. (Nozzle set to Parent-emitter) Set them to .05-.5 per frame
depending on speed of parents....to fill in the trail....set lifetime to
only a few frames....

5. Then tweak HVs to desired taste.
Read some Gradient tutorials on how to tweak HV over time, distance, what
have you...

Thank you Howard and gHopper. So nice of you to take the time!

Ask and ye shall receive! (http://www.theobject.net/margol/PFXInkHM.swf) :bounce:

Hope this helps, better than a scene, because now you are forced to make your own from scratch and LEARN! :p hehe

You can pause by rightclicking and clicking Play on/off.

Now someone give me a job! :D

ps Thanks GHop, whered you get that? ;)

sorry about the lame ass cursor, it was my first take and it was so good I had to print it!

LOL - I love your mouse gestures ;) Thanks for your effort. This will certainly make things a bit easier to recreate the ink effect ;)

Maybe you should think about doing some video tutorials and sell them online. But I think you already mentioned that you were probably gonna do that.

ps Thanks GHop, whered you get that? ;)

I copied your little tut the day you posted it.

By the way, hope all is going well with your dog.

You guys are welcome! Hope it helps!

:bounce: Thanks for asking about Cyan, actually, she is doing GREAT!
And as a matter of fact, we have helped push a bill that passed a few weeks ago and THE DENVER PIT BULL BAN HAS BEEN REPEALED!:bounce:
Sadly, Denver has chosen to fight against Colorado and Federal law to try and win 'homerule' , that they had passed the law 15 years ago, and like little elementary school babies are now crying that they want to do what they want just because they can, and not listen to the rest of the state or nation!

They are going to waste alot of taxpayers money!

That's great to hear Howard! Good luck with round 2.
I got a German Shephard for my wife for christmas (wonderful dog) and can't imagine what it would be like to have someone ban her breed.

Must bloat that she's from a long line of police dogs. Best dog i've ever had!

Hey Howard, as I wrote in the other post,
Great job!!!:bounce:

Love the video tute and yup, the mouse actions are a hoot, you make it very plain, without words, what is going on and what is the focus of that area. :applause:
Looking forward to playing with this, congrats!

haha, guess im gonna be eating those words :p

So, I was wondering if anyone would like to post some results of what they learned from my little mini tut, or did you all look at it, think thats cool, and move on? :D

Btw, Im going to be making some DVD tutorials soon, so it would be nice to hear if anyone actually learned something!

Hey howard, to tell you the truth. I haven't had time to scratch my a$% lately, but did take a quick peek at it. It's about time you started making some video tuts. Let us know when you have them ready. I'll be sure to buy!!

I'll find some time this weekend to dig into the tut and post when i do.
