Emre Tanriverdi has entered the Machineflesh 2D Challenge.
hi folks, i 've posted those sketches but they all gone 'coz of that damn hackers who doesn't have respect to ppl tryin to do something in the name of good. anyway this sketch of mine is a half human half machine soldier, (i know i know, its a cliché.) he has got a zoomin and targetin eye and also sattelite connection. they control them from HQ. i got some other ideas but i'm circlin around them yet.. :)
this is the colored version of it.. i 'm just tryin to get use to coloring in comp. actually i am an old fashioned pencil slave :). i'll change da concept.
Hi again to all,...i 'm done with that barber thing, had enough fun and now its time to back in to da real deal.
This is my new concept, a god of war in ancient egypt. They were the missing gods in egyptian history. 'coz everything about them was hidden under the river of nile.. Those were actually octopus like creatures with tons of thiny flexible arms. Egyptian scientist found out that their thiny arms were very strong so that they could easly wrap up a hippo and break its bones. so they exemined them and they had breed them under river nile, a secret underwater pyramid which was build upside down . i mean its goin down to the soil. after they were grew up enough egyptians kill those creatures and with their neverknown technology they had put some control mechanizm and
re-alived them. Now then they called GeeNoc.
here is a close up for its armored mechanic face..seems like a human face but also its a wolf kinda head lookin downwards.in a battle wolf head heads up.. let me continue to my concepts story...
there were 3 types of GeeNocs one is female which is used for torturing and makin slaves. they put a prisoner into a coffin alive and GeeNoc on him..GeeNoc could enter the body from the pores and reach the nerves so that it could make the prisoners suffer for a long time and also it fits the body of the prisoner and so that they became very strong and fast mindless slaves. they could carry huge rock blocks easly.
GeeNoc was gettin its energy by suckin all the tissues of the prisoner inside it. and by the way prisoners were also sufferin every second.
Better developed ones were the males. the volunteered soldiers wrapped by them and it fitted the body of the soldier so he could became over 1o feet height and 4oo lbs weight. they were the indistructable gods of war. males were not easy to breed so they did'nt have much.
The last breed had no sex. it was the rarest one. somekinda genetic anomally. so bigger than others so they used them for emperor .. to make him god.. Also it was his armor to protect him, even from aging.
well hope u like that concept, needs to be well designed actually.
if u r reading this sentence; then thx for reading this up to here :)
some comments would be very helpfull.. see ya..

whoaa cool concept and story...and also what a detail man...it really rocks to the bones... I think it just needs a little more accurate lines in the hair or whatever it is... I just want to see more of it...
great concept and drawing..
keep it up baby:)
yeah u r right its a bit kaotic.. i need to have definite lines and colorin' so i'll keep on color practicin.
05 May 2004, 10:33 AM
The amount of detail in the rasta hair is great :buttrock:
It seems you have some serious talent hidden under too little practise. Keep practising and you will come up with some serious work man.
Faclor_ thx man, , really appreciate ur opinion. i 'm still studyin the tools in painter and photoshop. i'm a clasiccal pencil drawer ( grew up with da "conan the barbarian").
but i 'm getin it quick.. will be thunderin ' inhere soon, don't give up supportin me:beer:
here is the dog kinda creature for geeNoc's. this is the guard of emperor. half human combined with a geenoc with da mechanic parts. it could be the sledge runner but they could stand on their feets and serve as palanquin carrier also as a guard they could fight. this is just the concept sketch... i wonder what do u think about the story of geeNoc's?...thx everyone.
this is a coloring test for it. i am just gettin use to this paintin stuff.. some comments would be welcome. ;)
here is a leg detail, i'm tryin to improve my colorin.. hope i could impreove it till this competition ends :) let me know what u think?!
05 May 2004, 09:08 PM
yeah that sketch was always one of my favorite ones anyway buddy.. good to see it here....with a little coloring improvement it will look really great and cool...go on pal, Im with u and also after you:beer:
05 May 2004, 06:45 AM
oh tts nice the hair amazing, the dog is so strong i like it ^ ^
Here is another colorin example, i just tried to make give it more definite look. Some parts of the dog r made of gold. next, i'll come up with the exact line art of the GeeNoc's gods of war. i just wanted to post some colorin action from me, may be someone could say somethin..
05 May 2004, 08:28 AM
:D i also made a dog creature :)
mine ist as dangerous looking as yours :)
Nice concept. i like the mecha parts of the dog.
thx budy, yeah i worked hard for that hairy look..and the dog i dunno may be i could take it out from the competition.
thx dude.. ur work is cool for sure.
05 May 2004, 09:53 PM
looks already cool as usual dude...
I would say just try some other tools also on this piece, anything else looking cool so far.
so far so good :)
05 May 2004, 11:32 PM
Wow, you certainly have a knack for concepts. :) I particularly love the Ancient Egyptian one and the dog. The expression and pose on the latter are appealing, as is the reddish colour that you're using.. But I'm not quite sure about the yellow. Just my opinion, of course. :) All in all, though: lovely, lovely work. I'll be checking back.

I really like the pose on the dog type beastie!! I think it's the strongest of the different images here.
it's lookin' real mean...
the lighting across his back legs works well too.
Here is the lineart of the pharaoh. Half human half dog. runs like a gorilla. also could stand on his feets and become a soldier..its some kinda GeeNoc but a sledge beast.
hereis how it looks while standing up and 4 legged position. i might change it a little bit coz i do'nt like its porpotions while its standin..
his body armor's shoulders could rotate around itself so tht his arms can move in every direction.
Forearms and fingers r strengthened with the arms of geeNoc so that he could stand and run like a gorilla. Lower body is supported by geeNoc's so that he could stand on his legs like a human ( geenoc's arms r on the surface on his stomach )
In_Like_Flynn: thx pal for ur comments, i had tons of comcepts actually but could'nt decidewhich one to use. so i 'll combine them. colors in here r just the tests, i'm tryin to improve my colorin.. kinda new to that thing. hit me back sometime...see ya.
duddlebug: well yeah i like the pose of it too.. its really mean but now i've changed its look, now its more humanlike. but i'm not satisfied with its standin position. Thx anyway pal..
05 May 2004, 12:42 PM
i think the hand up version is the best up to now.if i were you i would go on with that one.also definition of lines are great dont overdo it. time is getting shorter start thinking on a composition to put this in .lam amma kastım ba neyse hadyin :)
those r sketches for its outlook. its a man wrapped by a GeeNoc (its on his spine ) and it powered and armored him. also he has got a split on his arm which has a sowrd inside, also a claw like metal fingers is attached inside his hand. this sword and claw is combined with a mechanical ball kinda sturcture inside his palm.
here you can see that he had his sword out from his arm, its comin out from triceps side of the arm and get back in from the biceps side. tell me what u think?
here is the skecth of opening action of the sword.
06 June 2004, 05:05 PM
I'm liking the development. I was reading you where having problems with the standing position. I noticed you had changed the creatures anatomy for the standing pose. You're missing a section of leg....maybe that's the reason it's not jelling for you.
If you have a look at a dog on it's hind legs, it's spine counter balances the awkward position it's in....maybe that will give it a more convincing look. You seem to have a lot of ideas, so my comments are probably redundant to you now. But I hope this is helpful.
Keep up the good work.
thx paul for ur comments, i 've replied u in ur thread..
06 June 2004, 09:22 PM
good ideas and concepts as usual man... just a few problems with those legs here and there as Paul stated... but anything else looks really creative to me...the time is ticking away..uhh..u gotta hurry...:))
me too bytheway :D
here is how it would look in my composition. GeeNoc's r attacking style is just like the swimmin style of dolphins. geeNoc's jump and locate an enemy then dive into it and it goes between the enemies and then jump away to attack on another target. because of that he could baffle jis enemies. which one do u like most_?
this is what i planned to draw.. just couldn'T decide which one to draw.. the moves and the angles r diffrent.
so whatz ur opinion? which one should i draw?
06 June 2004, 04:55 PM
GeeNoc its really hard to tell those picture apart.
They look so much alike. Show them to somebody quickly in a row and they would have asked why did you show the same pic twice.
Deep down you know the answer :) Just keep at it! No time to ponder stuff like that.. You have to deliver soon! :wip:
06 June 2004, 06:05 PM
still , I'd go for the second one , on the right
thx budy, yeah u r right there is no time.. the one on the right is closer to the character and had a lowered angle..Also the main characters has got a diffrent action..
yeah budy i'll go for the 2nd one ;)
06 June 2004, 08:05 PM
the seccond appears with a silhouette more cool! Go to this!!!
my entry (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141195)
06 June 2004, 10:08 PM
the second one is better but I would say u should take a closer look to the main man...so the details can be seen better.
go on dude...
man, times ticking away and still nothing I have done:)
06 June 2004, 08:45 AM
hmmmm... yup... i'd go for the second one...
But i'd agree with frantic and try and maybe get a bit closer on the main man...?
06 June 2004, 09:09 AM
:) I have to agree that I prefer the second composition, but as frantic and Duddlebug mention, you could get closer to the main character. you can still get a feeling of lots of people by careful composition.
Saying that with time so short, if you do go with the second composition, I can still see this working very well and though this competition is based around an organic lifeform altered in some way, the environment can be as important if linked with the character.
wide shots can sometimes work well to explain a concept or tell a story providing it is dramatic in appearance...sorry about the waffle...hope it is of some small use...keep up the good work and post more soon:applause:
this pose is better to show its parts, so due to the concept the flexible sword is inside his arm.. the end of the sword is ball shaped, also there r metal fingers connected to that ball. Those fingers (may be 3 or 4 dunno yet) are like hooks.. they help him to hold himself on the walls for long time and also he could climb with them. if he uses it as a sword it will be connected by the ball inside his palm; if he uses it as a arm then the part of the sword left inside will be warpped by the tissues inside...
it is called "GeeNoc".
yeah i liked the 2nd one but i think i'Ll go for a closer look to the concept character. thx for helpin me frantic, londero, duddlebug and Mr FreeMan !
06 June 2004, 10:26 PM
the concept is cool buddy, I know it is a quick sketch...but its time to get the details and accurate lines so we can discuss about it much clearer I think...
theres one point that bugs me; the flexible bonus arms/claws looks a little thin/weak so they can easily got broken concidering his weight..or is it a special material or sumthin u have in mind?
chherz and thumbs up dude..
i now define the lines over the last skecth that i've posted. the parasite's head and thiny arms wraping his whole back are visible on his vertebra.
now i 've changed the position of front arm and the action of it. just wanted to show how sword is comin out. Also the experssion and the proportions a bit changed and dispersion of muscles r visible now. 3 days O hours 55 seconds...
i'm goin for more definite look. i try to chipped out some weight on him. he needs to be fast. his power comes from his speed and firmness. also i 've defined some of the muscles.
i feel Ok with the pose in the end. i wonder what u think folks.. thx for stoppin by!
06 June 2004, 11:59 AM
The pose looks only like a study to me. There should be more focus. Perhaps "it" watches the spectator or the spectator positon is panned slightly left, so that the upper corpse seems more central.
I like the clean sports sketching style.
this is what am i gonna do its lineart. here it goes.!
This is my "lineart" at last.! U can see the sword is coming out of his arm. He swings them out like a scythe while attacking. Also he can use them as an arm. his first three fingers has got mech. fingers inside, used for heavy duty like hanging up himself or climbin.
The tip point of the sword comes out from his nape like a ear or horn ( the wolf headed god-anubis- in egypt has got this kinda ears, so it fits in the history as well ).
All his agility, firmness, ability to move his mechanical parts and attachments r comin from the parasite attached on him. when the parasite attached, its thiny arms enters to his body and connects to his nerves.. so when he wants to do something the parasite is also do the same thing. Also those thiny arms r very strong so it is a natural armour.
Any comments would be welcome, coloring WIP is on the way!
here is my screenshot for now.. i've been workin on colorin right now and time is tickin'!...speed up Emre!!
here is a close up. its a bit blur 'cause of decresing the size of the file. 1 days 7 hours 2o min.'s...
i like this dark coloring style but i 'm not sure if i'm gonna make it that much dark or not.
1 days 5 hours 1 min.
06 June 2004, 10:25 PM
you are getting along pretty good with that dude.
some texture on that geenoc would be really cool..and a less glow on his skin maybe.
keep it up baby.
uh well i'm still workin. my neck hurts.. 1 days o hours 37 min's.
İ am havin problem wit tht colorin thing as usual. anyway i need to back in work. if u wanna say something, ur welcome then :)
06 June 2004, 11:08 AM
I feel menacing pawer in this creature. Cooool
Keep it up!
My MachineFlesh 2D Final image (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=131505&perpage=15&pagenumber=4)

:) :buttrock:  :bounce: :applause: :wip:   :buttrock:

Painting may have been better but I guess it is a matter of style. I like it though...
Good concept and good work. I'd like to see you do a 3D keep it up.
07 July 2004, 11:33 AM
Concept is "woo" I dig it!
If only the painting was done... I think you needed more time. But its ok its nice even this way.
well it was a very challenging competition for sure.. tons of good talents is around here. good luck to all.
arden_rey : thx budy.. yeah i liked the figure of this creature too.. its very menacing as u said.
frantic. : well, indeed its over pal.. i wish i could post a better version of it.. but anyway... i liked this style too.
