Hi there

I have finished work on this scene for my Jaguar E-type model [which I finished a couple of months ago]

heres a wire of the model

4.6mb QT mov

oh yeah, modeled in max6, rendered with MR and scanline [to avoid mr's motion blur] :)
also, a hdri map used for the reflections [not lighting]

I think it sux...everyone makes cars...why can´t u do something J/K :D !!!!!!!!!

04-23-2004, 02:32 PM
Already told you the render is great! :) Bit too slick for a vintage car maybe, but nonetheless stunning work! Good materials too!

The wire is pretty good as well! Neat modelling.

Five stars from me mate!

I LOVE this render!! Very good!

And excellent modelling, very clean and fluent wire...

04-23-2004, 02:55 PM
Excellent model! These vintage cars looks so hot and sexy when built on 3D that it really makes me want to buy one. CHeck out that rear-end! Fully restored cars on vintage magazines don't give the same effect on me.

Hi Simon :)

Your car looks fantastic, good job :)

btw.. I tried myself to get some descent wirerenders.. what's your secret ? Is it a plugin for 3dsMax .. like wiretex you used ?

bets wishes

04-23-2004, 03:23 PM
Very Nice Indeed.

04-23-2004, 04:21 PM
I don't have anything intelligent to add, but WOOOOOOOW.

04-23-2004, 07:44 PM
Very impressive work! Excellent modeling end rendering.

04-23-2004, 07:53 PM
Cheers guys

copy the original object, add a push modifier [with just a small amount]
apply a wire material on the new object.
apply a matt/shadow with opaque alpha on the original object

then It wont show all the backfacing edges

slightly bigger render (

That's a fantastic render you got there Simon.

Along with the Focus with the dirty underground (the static one), this is your best work yet I think.

Lovely mesh too, so simple, so clean, yet so perfect!

3000x1800 front (
1600 x 960 rear (

Fan-Bloody-tastic

I can look at these images for ages, feast for my eyes ;)

Are you going to do the open top version as well? That'd make for a nice pairing in renders ;)

04-25-2004, 06:19 AM
Really great work.

I have to agree. Open top please :)

alaa ahmed
04-25-2004, 06:39 AM
awesome :buttrock:
your render has something special in the lighting please some more explanation about it
thanx for sharing

I've been staring at these pictures for about 5 minutes straight. There's just not a single thing wrong with them. Very very good. I love this car too. A true classic. The chrome surfaces you achieved really blows my mind. You're making us car builders have a hard time.

04-25-2004, 07:05 PM
Sheer excellence !

One of the best car renders I've seen. Very accurate modelling there too.

Which HDRI map did you use for the lighting ?

04-25-2004, 07:18 PM
great job modelling/texturing/lighting etc.

The render is very impressive in your display pics, but with your HDRI lighting on the first highway picture, there aren't any reflections of the railing on the cars side. I assume it is on a bridge type thing, but not sure. Clarification?

04-25-2004, 07:30 PM
the renderings just gr8 man
only there seems 2 be some flaw with the lighting.
What i mean is the lighting on the left side of the car is very bright when compared to the dispersed light on the other side , yeah i know its evening time on morning time , as the shadow suggests but it just doesnt feel all right. and 2 add 2 it theres also some lighting on the right part on the car where infact the shadows falling

This is just a critic reply for ur wonderfull creation hope u dont mint it
Its never real it has be better & better

04-25-2004, 07:53 PM
Pretty amazing!!!

04-25-2004, 08:33 PM
Very, very nice job :buttrock:

04-26-2004, 02:00 PM
Very nice work!

One minor point. The spokes on your wheels seem to overlap differently to the ones in all the pictures of E types I have seem - doesn't detract from the overall look though.

04-26-2004, 07:40 PM
It shows your complete skill and accuracy
good luck!

05-03-2004, 12:21 AM
Nice Jaguar :)

The lightning seems to be off. From the enviroment it looks light source should be on right side of car.
2 things missing in the model. 1st the disc brakes, 2nd there is no exhaust.

The rendering itself i really like.

05-03-2004, 01:58 AM
It's fantastic.

05-03-2004, 02:36 AM
i cant find anything wrong with it...great job!

05-03-2004, 09:20 AM
Very nice but why has it got 3 wipers????

05-03-2004, 09:34 AM
Very smooth lighting. I like the mood of it. I also like the look of the wire-image. Nice modeling!

06-14-2004, 08:29 PM
can I have a closer look to the rims? post some renders please... if you mind of course...

this car looks just great to me!

06-15-2004, 03:23 PM

its an exellent image - the only thing i have to say is that there is no driver in the first composition, i only noticed that when you posted a bigger picture of the original.

06-16-2004, 12:55 PM
I did a desktop for 1600x1200 - i thought i could share it with you guys here.

jaguar_e-type_1600x1200.jpg (

I hope it's okay....

06-16-2004, 01:27 PM
Idi : Etypes do have 3 wipers ;)

ILS : There is no driver on the road image, but he would be on the left so he wouldnt be seen (just about) ;)

FluKe73 thats fine

06-16-2004, 07:08 PM
cool car man , i know you can do a better job on the street

06-17-2004, 02:12 AM
Excellent car man!! Its very impressive.:applause:

kinda hard for me to find any critiques but the only thing the kinda bothers me on the "action" render is since its on a banking turn, it might look a lil better to bank the car towards the camera so a lil more of the hood is showing. Just my opinion...otherwise nothing to crit man. well done!

06-17-2004, 07:44 AM
very nice rendering and modeling !!!

You choose one of the best car (with the aston martin db7)

I'd like to see an animation...

06-21-2004, 04:44 PM
here is a wee animation spin, looks like I forgot to post the link :)
its 4.6mb QT mov
