Hey ParadiseFlyBird thanks for welcoming me in( :beer: ). As you know already i am brand new here and i decided to give the contest a go.

My concept is the ultimate soldier altered by an underground secret government agency. His is like a rambo on steriods. I believe my concept is the essence of the word "MachineFlesh".

I should have some concept art uploaded by tomorrow. I will be looking forward to what people have to say. Please dont hold back the criticism.

This is an initial sketch of what the character will look like. It is really rough. I will be changing the bottom half of the character, anyone have any suggestions?

This is a side view of the engine. The engine is attatched to the metal spine. The F16 wings shoot out of the side of it. There are two chafs built into the two shoulder blades to shoot skineez.

Another little sketch. This is a profile sketch of the characters top half. The back of the skull will be see throught similar to the back of a mac computer. You will be able to see the video tube, gears and chips. The abdamin area will also be see through. This is where the pistons and inner workings will be housed.

Looks quiet good so far.

I try to list you what my eyes tell me bout the anatomy.
I think its one thing: Tte modeled bumps look not "rounded enough, look too much like extrusions and "platey" if that word describes it, or too quadric, or boxy. Try to smooth them, pay attention on the leading lines, where muscles and bones have the transition into the next shape.

The group on the side of the chest, on your skiet's you showed the spindleshaped musclegroup nicely closing into eachother like a "Zipper" and on your model, thes seem to be like "attached wrong, tips meet each other.

Breastmuscle/Biceps/shouldermuscle, looks too boxy. on his head, the volumes around cheeks, browbows, eyes, needs to be refined,

In the profile, there seems to be something wrong with the neck.

The back, as he seems to be very muscular, should also get a bit more defined.

THe all overimpression he makes is good. So keep on refining him and rock em all! Best luck and make us go wow, let it rock!!!!!!:buttrock: :beer: :wip:

Thanks the1st_angel for all of your comments I really appreciate it. Keep it coming.

I made some adjustments to the body and the neck. I want to head to look odly shaped because that is the character of the character. The Face is far from done though. As a matter of fact the whole thing is far from done, so there will be many more updates to come.

I think I've come up with an idea for the bottom half of the character so look for that soon

Just a little update with a few textures on the skin and on the face mask. I refined the muscle structure a bit also.
Any comments?

Hi lavon2002,

Thanks for your comments on my page. fixed muscles are much better, although forearm is still sharp a bit, by the way work is fine with textures.

about your question (glassy effect):

1, reset max

2, create a sphere in persp vwprt with base to pivot-- right clik properties---mental ray---check generate caustics

3, in topvwprt create a simple plane under the sphere with simle dark color

4, still in top create a mrArea Spot with focused hotspot on the sphere, in frontvwprt set the height of it (almost over the sphere)
then right click set generate custics as I wrote above.

5, press F10---common---assign renderer---prod, choose mental ray

6, open material editor, set up a Glass(physics-phen) material---assign it to the spehere, you can set it's color at Light persistence, but be careful with that all RGB values have to stay between 1 and 0,97. (it's just my suggestion)

7, press F10 again---indirect illumination---enable caustics

8, render

It's works with max6, and you have many other options, you can try them, and you have to check the tutorials.
by the way you can operate with Lume shaders for special effects

Just another little update. The Thighs is pretty much done, I just got to build the wheel inside the thighs. I still have more work to do on the hands. and the legs. Any Comments?

Just showing some more progress. I dont think I am going to be able to finish in time but I will make a push to do it.

I am a first year student at Collins College in Arizona and I have been pretty busy lately. So we'll see.

I am trying to come up with an environment for my character. It is either going to be this environment or a sky environment. Any comments?

I think sky environment should be better. I can't find contact with this greenie environ...your figure is really different from this!!
