hello all.

heres somthing I finished a few months ago. Im not 100% happy with it, theres alot of it I like and alot of it i dont (her left hand realy bugs me  )

I consider this the final image (with cropped of left hand), I think it looks alot better as a crop.

if youre intrested heres a link to the full figure shot.

let me know what you think,
thanks guys :)

beautiful! for now i can't see any errors on it ;) Tho i'm pretty tired so...P but beautiful anyway!

hmm..maybe the "stick" she's holding could be darker or something?...just s tought.

04 April 2004, 07:10 PM
Great modeling and rendering! I love the detail on the head dress and jewelry. They eyes really stand out also, nice job. The full figure picture isn't bad, but I like the version you went with. I think it shows more detail then the full pic, you notice more...just my opinion anyway.

Hmm, so what does that key open that's around her neck? :)

04 April 2004, 07:49 PM
About the time you posted finished version ;) Not much to crit, i really like that certain charm she has.

04 April 2004, 08:37 PM
I dont know what you mean with her hand. You wasnt after photorealistic at all (saw your work in WIP Forum).

She is great.

04 April 2004, 10:41 PM
If I had to find something to critic, I would say that the mouth's corner would need more work, but hey, I have nothing to say ! ;)
Really beautifull picture, wonderful mood and colors !

04 April 2004, 10:45 PM
Incredible, someone should message an admin to try to get this on front page. Good job

04 April 2004, 11:39 PM
Great job!! I can't see any flaws in the image whatsoever!! Superb work!!

04 April 2004, 04:52 AM
I like the style. Not hyper realism, not completly cartoony.

Will it better if you give more blue to the sky?

04 April 2004, 05:39 AM
brilliant :applause:

What I really like are: the beads around her neck, earings, and torn towel drape thingy.

If I were to change anything. I would decrease the diffuse glow and get more sharpness, and add some more detail to the key necklace thing.

But wth do i know
Great job!

04 April 2004, 08:46 AM
No crits here, i think it's a cool style.
keep it up!!

04 April 2004, 08:47 AM
nice work man! i like it.
but what the key doin there on her necklace?? ;)

nice stuff, keep it up.

04 April 2004, 08:56 AM
 very nice work :D

04 April 2004, 09:46 AM
nice !

04 April 2004, 10:10 AM

04 April 2004, 11:27 AM
This is a real excellent job !!

NO crits at all, this image is beautiful hope we can all se some other renders.

04 April 2004, 11:29 AM
:) :) :)

04 April 2004, 12:36 PM
Great work. I love the cloth and the eyes.

04 April 2004, 12:52 PM

Makes me think of this oldie...

04 April 2004, 02:17 PM
That is absolutaly lovely! Great character

04 April 2004, 05:13 PM
There she is... :D

Bloody brilliant and no mistake!

Any luxury close ups of her jewellery?

04 April 2004, 06:26 PM
Wow !! I can't believe this isn't on the front page yet. Please, plug it. It's a hell of a lot more interesting than the latest version of maya or xsi ;)

I can't really see anything wrong with it. Very cool.

04 April 2004, 07:04 PM
I love the detail of the accessories , they really give her character.

Plugged at front page.

04 April 2004, 07:26 PM
Whats up with the Key hanging from around her neck?

Doesnt seem to fit, IMO

04 April 2004, 07:33 PM
now this is some stylized piece of work, keep up the good work :buttrock:

04 April 2004, 07:48 PM
Looks great, although now that you mention the crop, it sort of bothers me that the bracelet is chopped off. I really like the full figure a lot better. I think all you might have to do to fix the hand would be to rotate the wrist like 30 to 45 degrees so that we see more of the back of her hand, to make the pose look a little more natural. Aside from that I think the hand looks fine.
Good work all around.

04 April 2004, 07:54 PM

I like it a LOT, very beautifull colors and details.

I think I would like the full image better with some more free space to the right, whattya think?
(dunno what's wrong with the left hand...)

04 April 2004, 08:06 PM
Great character. The color and style goes very well together. As for her left hand, it is way too straight and not a very relaxed pose.

The only real thing that bothers me is the stick. It seems too bumpy compared to the rest of the character. Almost a different style.

Look around her waist,metal undies!!

04 April 2004, 08:24 PM
Very nice!!
I just would turn the eyes a bit. I would make the character more alive. Now in my opinion she is gazing too much.

But as said by many others, she is very nice:)

04 April 2004, 08:27 PM
Beautiful indeed.

04 April 2004, 08:52 PM
Too clean! I'd think that after walking (I'm getting that from the walking stick) that she'd have some dust or dirt on her clothing. Her neck band is especially looking brand new.

04 April 2004, 09:07 PM
very cool style. The skin shader isn't perfect but the artifacts and clothes are really great.

04 April 2004, 09:26 PM
perfect picture but for alternatives I would try chaninging the skin texture a little toget more uneveness - less toony maybe.

04 April 2004, 09:28 PM
Very , very nice!

Shes gorgeous. I specially like her big brown eyes, and the many vivid colors. Five stars from me...

04 April 2004, 09:35 PM
Lovely character!!!

04 April 2004, 09:42 PM
this is brilliant - it's the style of render that i aspire to, with its semi-realistic mixed with realistic look.

huge applause! this is going to be my new desktop for definite :) :applause:

That is the key for her gym locker.:p

ps - oh yeah, I love it. Really fantastic! I like it's level of detail and that it still keeps it's simplicity. Very refreshing.

04 April 2004, 11:23 PM

I like you picture, background, clothes and colors is very good...just women stand and skin texture isn't looking good for me, but it's only my opinion maybe you won't doing Realistic women ?

Ambience of you scene is looking good at all...

Cheers and continue you great job. ;)

04 April 2004, 11:24 PM
Front page plug, thanks Sheep Factory

Glad everyone like her, thanks for all the comments and crits.

For those who asked about the key.....
The Maasai are a nomadic people, the collects what thay find. Its common to see pics of Maasai women with bottle tops and ring pulls as part of there jewlary. One of the many pics I found on the net had a yound girl with a single key around her neck....I thought it looked cool, I stole it and used it here

for aj....I dont know how many polys but its alot

04 April 2004, 11:49 PM
One of the best things I've seen in ages.

Outstanding work!

04 April 2004, 12:40 AM

04 April 2004, 02:40 AM
Nice job Mr Mushroom :)

04 April 2004, 02:46 AM
 perfect clean modeland render. i like everything
nice details.:applause: :applause:

04 April 2004, 02:49 AM
great job, the beads are amazing.

I think I like the full body one better, the clothing is great.

one thing I would look into changing is the specular on the eye, feels like it should be a little tighter.

04 April 2004, 02:49 AM
great job, the beads are amazing.

04 April 2004, 02:49 AM
great job, the beads are amazing.

04 April 2004, 03:20 AM
beautiful very great work

04 April 2004, 04:42 AM
Wow that a cool piece of work. I like the overall color tone of the render. What were the tools used? Are u planning to animate her? Can u post the wireframe image? Keep up the gr8 job. ;)

04 April 2004, 08:05 AM
Good work!
This is one of the Best work I have seen for a while!
Very high quality stuff!

I got an erection when I saw this! but If you give animation for us which is same quality(or even close) I'll bet it makes lots of dirty keyboards!

04 April 2004, 08:13 AM
very nice work.

with that hand you don't like i would maybe curl the fingers a bit more and slightly twist the wrist so it dosn't look like she is standing at attention

but great work i like it:thumbsup:

04 April 2004, 09:18 AM
no dragon, no axe, no daedly laser gun :D
i love the topic, the character, the image !
maybe (maybe) it would deserve a lighting, say, less consensual.

LOVE IT anyway !

04 April 2004, 09:51 AM
Excellent work and detail in the clothing and accessories!
I love your image very very much.
Although being from around those parts, I'd venture to say that her eyes are a bit on the too big side. ;)

:applause: :applause: :applause:

04 April 2004, 10:09 AM
Stunning! :applause: :applause:

04 April 2004, 10:57 AM
Lovely. I love the style.

04 April 2004, 11:02 AM
I like the look you have come up with. A nice blend between real and cartoon, with some nice shading and body proportions.

04 April 2004, 12:24 PM
Well done boy! Those necklesses are great! I to love the skin texture. Compositing is AWESOME! Keep'em coming man!

04 April 2004, 12:53 PM
Very nice;)

04 April 2004, 01:07 PM
Very nice work:thumbsup:

04 April 2004, 02:46 PM
it's very nice work. nicely stylized and great lighting/look.

just one thing about composition since you're looking for better composition through cropping.
I don't think it's a good idea to crop right at her wrist. when it is cropped in figure's wrist or ankle, it usually gives uncomfortable viewing.

my 2 cents

04 April 2004, 04:01 PM
I love your style. Its a awesome picture and the fact that you are keeping her clothes on make it even better. You have done a great job with the detail in the clothing and accessories. You don't try to get frontpage or many replyes with "nude" as most of the female characters in cg.

04 April 2004, 04:14 PM
good work

04 April 2004, 05:30 PM
Great work. I absolutly love it. The face is perfect, and I love th eyes. Any plans for animating this character?

04 April 2004, 06:56 PM
im suprize you finsih it i been watching this model at the cgchat fourm like what 3 months ago

04 April 2004, 08:34 PM
WOW! so many replys, thanks all

BatmanFX...ya damn right!

xynaria, thanks m8

erake, thanks and heres a wire shot. WIRE, HEAD AND DETAILS (

CornFielD, Im realy happy for you, dont make a mess  ...glad you like her

fraa, glad you think its a little different.

konst, thanks...a very nice thing to say :)

phito11, no plans at all. Even if I could animate (which i cant btw) I dont think my pc would be able to cope with all the polys.

MassiveOverHual. My last post on cgchat/cgtalk was when I had it finished (about 3 months back), its taken me this long to get around to posting it:rolleyes:

thanks again guys:wavey:

Not to sound like a know it all but the feet are all wrong. Take a look at an anatomy book sometime and you'll realize they're sooooo bad. Also the bump map on the lips is a little too uniform. Try varying the stroke pattern a bit and vary the opacity of each stroke too. Nice style though.

04 April 2004, 11:10 AM
:bounce: :applause:

04 April 2004, 11:52 AM
super this is realy beautiful.

04 April 2004, 03:05 PM
very nice work. The only thing that really sticks out at me is her hand on the staff. I think that maybe kinking the wrist downward a little bit would look better. So as to show the weight of her foream. Maybe a little rim lighting somewhere from the hot African sun. Heat wave distortion, etc.... *shrug* just some suggestions. :buttrock:

04 April 2004, 03:25 PM
Your attention to detail in her jewlery is amazing. I particularly like the feel of her garments. Hey, is that her housekey around her neck or the key to her Benzo?

Awsome work, and I must say, her left hand doesn't bother me a bit.

04 April 2004, 05:42 PM
This is a beautifull character!
I love the sharp details, and the expression and look on her face. She looks wise to me, and I can feel her pride (in a good way) to be massai.
Beautifull, really! :applause:

04 April 2004, 05:54 PM
Great Work, Lovin the eyes

04 April 2004, 08:31 PM
Very nice! I love all those details you put in, especially the jewellery and the clothing.

04 April 2004, 02:48 AM
Like it very much!

04 April 2004, 07:54 AM
A lovely piece of work! Congrats on the front-page plug!
You got 5 stars from me! :)

PS. The clothes are particularly good. Would be nice to see a more realistic version of her!

05 May 2004, 06:50 PM
I love her big innocent eyes ...
Excellent style and a superb image overall !

Well done (BTW great website too !)

I absolutely love the amount of colour and all the different colours, they are so vibrant and they really bring the model to life.

06 June 2004, 04:08 AM
great charactor

07 July 2004, 06:49 AM
Wow! She's beautiful, her eyes are very doe-like and very pretty, the jewelry is beautiful and extremely accurate and detailed. The beading on the collar is to die for, I wouldn't worry too much about any flaws, that is what makes the character and image unique. It's nice to see more multi-ethnic CG characters.

07 July 2004, 06:56 PM
ha..... cute chic with great textures and wonderful lighting .....

07 July 2004, 01:51 PM
like your picture a lot.
her eyes are vulnerable. her costume is not. the key.

07 July 2004, 01:32 AM
only a little drawback i think......
her feet look swollen....

07 July 2004, 02:32 AM
Wow nice textures

07 July 2004, 04:33 PM
brilliant work!

10 October 2004, 11:29 AM
great work! is that a key around her neck???

12 December 2004, 11:52 PM
Only one general crit. She looks like she just got a full body sanding at the spa. If you wanted to make it more accurate you could work on some wrinkles and a little sagging. A little more sterness in her look. A little more weathered overall, she does live in one of the most harsh environs in the world and it seems to me that she should reflect that more.

12 December 2004, 01:50 AM
MMMMM,chocolate, looks tasty. She could easaly be a major character in one of Disneys or Pixars animation movies.

01 January 2005, 02:25 AM
Somebody's read stop staring, or you allready knew to make a seperate urface for the cornea of eye to get that sub-surface shading look. As in real life; the largest amount of life should be present in the eyes. so you succeded admirably. Great stuff.
