This is like the pro-wrestling of the CG world. :)
Oh, and Pascal, your ox is looking great. I can't wait to see it alienized.
Happy to see great Pascal Blanché in action again. :scream:
I can't wait to see what this is going to be. :applause:

I can't wait to see you final piece !
07-12-2002, 09:04 PM
update.. man.. the proportion are going more and more rhino like :)
07-12-2002, 09:11 PM
No eyes, no ground, and I know no yellow bull...
Try again mister Blanché.
This ain't the good way to find a respectable work in CG.
at last - ;)
07-12-2002, 09:30 PM
That is some great stuff PB! I really like the skin folds and structure definition. If you make it blue, it could be Paul Bunion's ox Babe. ;)
07-12-2002, 10:55 PM
looking good...would you look at the ass on that bull...sweet !!!...lol...I think his legs look a little short...and the nose a little squashed...I know you just started the model...just wanted to give my two cents before you have it perfect and there is nothing to crit..lol..anyway keep it going...looking good!
07-12-2002, 11:00 PM
All you need now is a Huge Lumber Jack and some blue paint and your set :scream:
07-13-2002, 04:54 AM
ollie ollie oxen free...
Nice work Pascal.
Check out the sketch for my "Babe" here: :)
07-13-2002, 09:51 AM
Wow Pascal Blanché is entering, this is going to be great! I'm liking it so far, my only crit would be to add a wee little tail.
07-14-2002, 01:25 AM
Hey pascal I saw your art in the recent magazine, I have seen it all from your page before, you inspire many people, myself included. Anyway I thought I would give this thread a bump, noone should ever have to look for your work, it should always be at front and center. -Jeremy- :p
07-14-2002, 01:54 AM
Hey Pascal cool to see you here fighting with us in the mud. It's cool that you still like to get dirty. :)
Ok here is a comment about your model, the shoulder man, i think they're too separate. You should close them up. The back is looking cool but some spine modeling should be cool. And the last, no wrist? It's bull but they've wrist too, it's called i don't know how, mmm boulet? Well this comments are of course only if you want to keep your model anatomicaly close to a real bull.
Otherwise bon boulot!!! J'espere voir bientot les prochain updates!!
A la prochaine....:)
07-14-2002, 02:32 AM
Not rubbish not cow but a "lot of bull" :-) How's the harness going to look, traditional style?
arg :) Pascal on the challenges
bonne chance pr le concours ^^
07-16-2002, 06:11 PM
little update, didnt have the time to go as far as I wanted didnt worked on the feet yet, didnt do lots of things .....need cofee....
07-16-2002, 06:19 PM
Wow pascal nice change to the head! You had a nice Ox going before, but I really like this new head design much more. The head itself almost has a "turtley" quality to it which I think actually works really well with the rest of the beast. And I LOVE that subtle twist you have on the tusks. I almost missed it the first look, and had to go back and examine the pic harder to see it. Really excellent work so far mt man!
would you mind taking a look at my piece and give me your 2 cents on it?
07-16-2002, 06:22 PM
thx Zro.. but for now the proportions are not going the way I want.. now he look way too much bulked for me..
07-16-2002, 06:25 PM
looking great but how would he eat with those horns in the way?
07-16-2002, 06:29 PM
Ah, I just figured you wanted the bulkiness. If you want to reduce the 'bulk' with out really reducing the mass try brining the "armpits" of the legs up closer to the shoulder (or hip in the case of the rear legs). That should help with some of the bulkiness the torso has without overly slimming-down the overall proportions you have.
07-16-2002, 06:40 PM
yup something like that ;)
blc318... errr.. it has a very long tongue :p
07-16-2002, 06:43 PM
thats actually a good idea! He could wrap his tounge around tree limbs and strip the leaves to eats and long blades of grass. Assuming ofcourse that he is a herbavore:buttrock:
07-16-2002, 09:28 PM
As usual, an awesome character, Pascal!! :D
I love the tusks!!!! Much more interesting than conventional horns!
07-16-2002, 09:33 PM
thx leigh ;) little update...
07-16-2002, 09:50 PM
There we go that's an improvement!
Small things: What are the small humps of flesh on his back near the shoulder blades, just a little confusing (maybe design?)
Make sure the tusk things have a nice base of flesh too. (great whooly design BTW)
The fore arms inthe front look a little barren- are they flabby are muscular or both?
Oh and you MUST show that long tougue!
Mr. Nice Guy
07-16-2002, 10:00 PM
This looks good. I like the feets now.
But maybe you can put some more details at the beginning of the horns (by the head). And maybe you can make his head more looking down at the ground. It looks to me that his head will be heavy.
Keep on going
What about the cow war...?
Oh well, it's looking good. :D
*walks off whimpering about cows*
07-16-2002, 10:34 PM
Nice update so far..but im spoild I would like to see more! hehe I sure hope u add thick fur near the tusks? just a sugestion :) keep it up guy :)
07-16-2002, 10:37 PM
07-17-2002, 02:49 AM
yup farley, you`re right about thoses feet and shoulders, they are a bit weack for the moment...
07-17-2002, 02:58 AM
Looks like a bit of poly-intersection around the entry point of the tusks. That may just be me being picky though!
I love it! Nice and foldy. :D
07-17-2002, 03:05 AM
actually you re right, it's just two separate objects
picky picky ... ;)
07-17-2002, 12:10 PM
MMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :airguitar and all the girlies say i'm pretty fly for a white guy...unos dos stress....
07-17-2002, 02:56 PM
Guess what Loisel may modelize if he decided one day to get into 3D ? ;)
Very nice creature head !!
I Love less the back feet. Perhaps too wide to be functionnal...
Too bad this challenge doesn't include textures. I know you love mixing UV channels, masks, composites & mixes on your creatures. :p
07-17-2002, 08:16 PM
hehe thx Bio ;) actually I have a little animation in mind when i will be done with modelling (texturing?) All I need is maybe some mud FX .... maybe you could help me with that, mista real flow ;)
07-17-2002, 08:25 PM
You're reading in my mind.
I'm planning a snapshot of little Realwave effect for my own beast (cable in water).
Maybe you could help me animating mine ? ;)
J'te paye un Kfé, rh'enkilé.
07-17-2002, 09:11 PM
this is dfinitely one of my favorites. Nice design! Your tusks are great, I can't seem to get them right on mine.
07-18-2002, 12:11 PM
time to update the ALIEN BULL & leave feeding 'Antonin', dady! :)
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
interesting to see how this model evolves!
only crit. or question. how can he eat? the horns (tusks?) would get into the way (or he does have a long tongue =).
other than that, like the hoofs and nice modeling style.
07-18-2002, 03:21 PM
Nice model....this guy even looks heavy...my only crit: is he too heavy? He has a burden to carry too?
Otherwise, I reckon I shall withdraw now your back.:applause: :applause:
07-18-2002, 05:26 PM
I like first, but I like more second creature. It looks great.
You have a very cool style Mr.Pascal.
I think it is a polygonal modeling in MAX. Or not MAX?
:applause:
I think you are the one of the best 3Dartist in the world.
07-18-2002, 06:46 PM
:) hmmm...now it's coming along nicely!Maybe some really small horn like bones protruding from the sides of the scull?I really like the new head!
07-18-2002, 07:21 PM
thx for the kind comments guys
new add.. Still have some little things to adjust, I'll do that while working on the stuff the poor beast will carry and pull...
07-18-2002, 07:29 PM
Heeeeeere it comes, slowly (air connu). :buttrock:
Muscles and shape are fitting well now ! Impressive (You're killing all of us, damn). What do you plan for the harness and load ?
... père indigne.
07-18-2002, 08:00 PM
As usual! Perfect!
Il serait encore plus impressionnant avec une corne de Rhino sur le nez...
J'suis vraiment impatient de voir le resultat final et surtout la scène que tu va nous faire avec!
07-18-2002, 08:01 PM
07-18-2002, 08:50 PM
MAX. Or not MAX?
he's a MAX NUT! ;)
yeap, wires...if it's not a secret! master pascal. :buttrock:
07-18-2002, 08:58 PM
your orders.... ;)
07-18-2002, 10:01 PM
we mean NONE-SMOOTHED WIRE!...tricky man! :scream:
07-18-2002, 10:30 PM
awesome work, i really like your modelling !
do you have anything as for the contraption yet ?
i've watched a couple results from past challenges and some work that you've done, and it is impressive but not as much as seeing it evolve on the forum ! :applause:
keep it coming !
07-18-2002, 11:21 PM
yeah, yeah, i'll have to give... it looks splendid. as usual.
07-18-2002, 11:31 PM
your wireframes are always different looking. (even though it is a smoothed version:wip: ) Your pure approach seems to be very stylized.
I would love to see a timelapse of the way you work. I think it would be interesting and different from any others we have seen:thumbsup:
07-18-2002, 11:37 PM
uhm... maybe it's just me, or does his tail look a bit "organ"ic? <big smile>
that's my only crit, if it's not supposed to look like that... or as i said, maybe it's just me.
keep up the good work dude.
07-18-2002, 11:44 PM
fabulous work. it feels a little off-balance, but i'm sure it'll all come together in the end....
07-19-2002, 12:43 AM
I really Love it, It's great !!!
Just one crit, might be wrong, but his tail is starting to look like a penis, it's funny, but not right.
Like I said, could be wrong.

07-19-2002, 01:38 PM
how many freakin tool fans are on this board anyway. i guess this model is coming along, although i have to hate u because uve posted maybe 4 pics and gotten three times as many crits as i have. i would expect something more creative, but im sure it will be in the end.
07-19-2002, 01:40 PM
around the fur:
why you hatin?
07-19-2002, 01:52 PM
im note hatin.....well yea i guess i am, nah its really more envy.
07-19-2002, 02:12 PM
Is there a way for this creature to drink?
07-19-2002, 02:43 PM
hmmm there is always an escape : hollow and very long tongue!! ;)

het this is coming really nice ,comme toujours ,well keep it up dude your great really ,j ai vraiment hate de voir la suite
07-19-2002, 07:06 PM
that mesh is a mess :insane:
I guess this is your way of saying to all the edgeloopers/quads-only/no-poles modelers: "kiss my big BoB's ass" :p
07-19-2002, 07:18 PM
I've always found it to be sort of obvious when you look at all of Pascal Blanche's models that they aren't very "cleanly" modeled, but somehow he's managed to make that look add to his unique style which I personally really like.
Looking good Pascal.
07-19-2002, 09:23 PM
huhuh and you didnt see my firsts models 8 years ago.. all done with boolean spheres.. THAT was freacky But yeah, usually I go wild on modelling at the first shot, then I start to fix probs, and I make my mesh cleaner and cleaner ... obviously, I will have not the time for this one ;)
07-19-2002, 11:18 PM
I want to see your 8 year old models:wip: :wip: :wip:

MikeRB (another of my favs here) has said pretty much the same thing. Guess it keeps you from being anal as long as possible and concentrate on the form.
BTW: Just got back from Barns&Noble where I saw your work in the latest (latest in the US anyway) issue of 3D World  .... Probably old news, but I was glad to see your stuff in there! Congrats

hey pascal put your model update soor for the last critic l did to you but l think this is why this forum is made ...anyway good work and l m a big fab of your work..keep it up
__________my last wip_____________
Arghhh Pascal strikes again ! :bounce:
Good model as usual, you have to tell us your modelling process, what tool do you use the most ? Cut ? Extrude ?
From your wireframe i'd say you use cut the most, in a "freestyle" way, am i right ?
we both know that you can do better than that. ;>
07-22-2002, 07:42 AM
Hollow tongue? Nah, I reckon he should drink in deep water....
Pascal your style, very freestyle, rocks...ignore them...I like to start with a mess and work my way down to a bigger mess....lol....:applause:
:scream: :scream: :scream:
Hi, that was nice modeling here how u do that patch for patch or cube modeling and then vertex and edge picking - show us more
07-24-2002, 01:05 AM
Listen to me man, this is important !!!!
I already posted this.
:D look at the tail of your beast, what ya see ???:D
A PENIS !!!!
Sorry man, I like your work alot, your an inspiration for me, but I just had to say this.
07-24-2002, 02:40 AM
fixed that already ... new picts coming soon ;)
07-24-2002, 10:08 AM
hehe, you could've cept it.
the beast could'v used it as a weapon, when an enemy comes from the back,.....splash!! pee all over him hehehe.
No seriously I really like your work, inspiration to us all !
07-24-2002, 10:34 PM
look at the tail of your beast, what ya see ???
what's problem?...he's a MALE ALIEN beast!
pascal, don't cut that !...poor beast :)
07-25-2002, 12:08 AM
I really like the sulptural feel of the model thus far.
07-25-2002, 12:55 PM
starting to block out the stuff the poor beast will cary.. i'll maybe change some things... i like the idea of a vertical burden.. it will need lots of ropes to make it stable ;)
07-25-2002, 01:09 PM
You call THAT blocking out? What're the actual models going to look like? WOW!
Love the cloth and the detail on the barrel underneath.
I'm being very picky here, but I'm not sure if the small gap between the back corners of the mouth and the horn looks right. Looks a bit less organic than the rest of the model, like there isn't a flowing skin between the two joins.
I don't know, maybe it's the camera angle.
Great stuff Pascal.
When i grow up i want to model just like you!!!! hehehe
Man, i don't know if your work inspires me or makes me sad, as the thought of how much i don't know and need to learn comes over me when i look at your stuff.
Yeah, keep it up dude !!!!
07-25-2002, 02:41 PM
Love the detail. My only crit at this point is the mouth at the back it looks thin and at the end we can see the inside polys that create a bump. So when I look at it, it looks like you just pulled a couple of vertexes in and didn't work out the lip or in this case the depht of the skin.
It's just my opinion, other then that it's kick ass!
07-25-2002, 03:59 PM
Simply Fantastic...Sorry, i'm not original...but i love your model dude!!
Have a nice day
i play atari
07-25-2002, 04:08 PM
I dunno pascal.....it looks a lot like my 3D image that I did last Christmas...................
07-25-2002, 04:27 PM
huhuh funny guy eh?
07-25-2002, 05:19 PM
Gabe : merde... tu vas pas pouvoir finir alors ? :( :(
07-25-2002, 06:26 PM
i've been following your work for some time now and i think it is really awesome! and this follows the rest. very good
07-25-2002, 09:50 PM
I've not tried out my french for some time:
07-25-2002, 09:56 PM
07-25-2002, 10:09 PM
you crazy french are stealing the chance of winning from the others! shame on you!!! :shame:

I am trying to find something intelligent to say about your model, and as hard as I try to find a mistake, I . . . can't
What's really appealing about yours is that he is the very embodiment of a beast of burden. When I look at him, I immediately know what he is, and where he is in the food chain of life. Excellent work!! I can only wonder and feel excitement to see where you are going to take your beasty next.
Keep it up!!!
and keep :wip: :wip:

Your Beast is very original.
But burden is very complicated. I don't know. It is my simple feeling...
07-28-2002, 08:57 AM
I am thinking....would it not be possible to have different classes of challenge....sort of beginner / advanced? That way I would still have hope.....lol.....
07-28-2002, 09:10 AM

Pascal, too bad you wont be able to finish. Are you going to continu on it on your spare time?
Quick question too, on your website it says that your a lead caracter desgner for Ubisoft. What game are you on? I've got friends and ex classmates that work there.
08-03-2002, 05:46 AM

A great exemple as ever!!!
plz you have to finish this  its coming along great, its awesome, it will be much better when finished as things tend to do, i really really hope you can finish this, good luck;)

09-02-2002, 12:44 AM
:applause: Sweet work as always --- my only crit would be the beast could use more in the ways of a harnis (spelling) perhaps something like a pully system attached to the horns
--- thats' my two cents - Great work :applause:
09-04-2002, 08:24 PM
What can i say, awesome, and how the idea comes to your mind? Tell me please:)
09-05-2002, 09:23 AM
At the begining I wasn't really sure if this work would finish like the rest of your stuff... but when you changed the horns, add the motor, and these "vertical bones", I just can say is awesome and very Pascal work. :)
I like very much overall the vertical structure, I think is a very nice idea
Just I would like suggest you a big cane (from he is until the floor) to keep the balance and to down until the floor using it like fireman bar :p (althouhg I think for down is better a rope with knots...) ;)
will we see it textured?
I have been backtracking the challenges, and Wow,all your work is super great.I love this beast you have created, the overall feel and look are just superb.Your site is overloaded with this kind of stuff as well, wow you have talent.
