View Full Version : roboter arm rig distorts the polys :-(

hy commmunity ! i have a common animation problem.
i rigged a roboter arm. so far so good. but when the movement goes over a certain angle hte model distorts heavyly.
So how can i kinda "save" the weight(radius and size) of a cylinder e.g. ? freeze transformation doesnīt work when rigged :(
help me out please !

freezing transformations doesnt make any sense, since the transforms of the joints drive the mesh. i fear you should take some time to paint the skinweights and consider using influence objects

is there a tutorial for influence objects ? i just surfed learning maya but didnīt find anything :cry:
