View Full Version : Character Concept: Arachnidan
03 March 2004, 10:19 PM
Just finished today, total time under 1.5 hours. This is a concept sketch for a character I intend to model in 3DSMax for a final project at school. I still have to do front and other angles. Face development, etc.
Its named Arachnidan. A daemon resembling some parts of a spider. A character from the on-going world in my head.

not something i'd like to run into :|
only complaint i have about it is that it seems somehow.. imbalanced. there's the huge spider legs and body, but then there's the tiny body and head at the top. i guess it has to be like this tho, unless you want a small spider demon, or a disproportionately large human part. i guess it could be improved if there were some more stuff joining the body to the.. body. :)

Thanks man. Yeah I was tweaking around with the proportions, I found that was the only way I could make him look big without another character for comparison.
I also debated giving him arms, but that kind of took away from his look. You are right about the middle connecting part. I was thinking of making it look like strands of muscle flesh connecting the ribcage into the spider abd.

Here is the Line drawing concept...I also am working on head changes and details, and torso changes. I am also in the process of modelling the character.

Well thanks, I hope the 3D part completes the way I want (its my first real attempt). All I know is that I look around at the artists here, and get very humbled. So much talent, sometimes motivating, sometimes disheartening, but always admired.
I also just need some opinions to put down for document parts of the project. To show I recieved criticism from others.
