Vinicius de Sá Menezes has entered the Machineflesh 2D Challenge.

03 March 2004, 03:02 PM (

This is one of my first ideas. The concept is a modificacion of dead bodys, resulting in artificial vampires.
I still thinking in some modificacions...

03 March 2004, 05:30 PM
Lovely sketch and great concept…I like the contrast between the evil claws and wings to the cute, almost innocent face. Prefer the ears on the left.

Very much look forward to following your entry.

03 March 2004, 05:47 PM
Wow, awesome work...really like it. Will be watching this one for sure.

03 March 2004, 07:44 PM (

These are some studies of my "Artificial Vampires" concept. I still working on modificacions..and colors!

03 March 2004, 07:59 PM
Wow, nice work. I like the ideas on the first page better than the newest one. I don't normally like the anime style too much but I love these.

03 March 2004, 02:55 AM
Great concept I like the idea. I prefer the second one, perfect balance of mech and flesh and the color use are exellent :buttrock:

Yeah, baby, yeah...

Way to go. Great concept!

03 March 2004, 09:31 PM (

I keep working on the concept..., concentrating my mind in the mechanical parts. I'm not sure about the wings, maybe a cliche...i don't no..
well, let´s get back to work :)

03 March 2004, 08:34 AM
very cool concepts indeed!:buttrock:

the concept of showing vissible blood flowing around on the body is perfect!

maybe instead of the wings, try replacing the suport-wings with one, or two, narrow and long cape(s), to support the wamp theme, but still not to overdoo it.

adding wings seems to be too cliché and obvious.

03 March 2004, 11:41 AM
That's great sketches... Another thread i'll keep a eye on!!! Good work!!! :applause:

03 March 2004, 01:57 PM (

More this particular sketchs i try add more detail to face and neck. I'm not sure about the style..this is a more realistic

Thanks everyone for the commentaries!!!I take all in consideration

03 March 2004, 08:58 PM
comming together quite nice. good work.

03 March 2004, 11:46 PM (

More studies of mechanical parts...

03 March 2004, 02:38 AM
Kralho velho muito bom =]
Cool concepts man liked your style keep that way

03 March 2004, 03:49 AM
This is sweet in a wicked way. Your style is very nice. I love your explorations with her.

I really love your drawings, they look terrific and really imaginative! You have a good sense of color and proportion.

03 March 2004, 09:28 PM
Looking awesome so far! I like the glowing blood idea and a lot of the stuff on your latest sketches. I'm not sure about the red hair you used in your second to last study, though. It looks too much like the character in that video game... I think it's Blood Reign or something like that.

Keep it up, man. I'll be back

03 March 2004, 11:05 PM
Sweet! The ideea of a mechanical vampire has a great potential and it looks like you can exploit it at maximum. Keep up the great work and good luck.

03 March 2004, 02:39 AM
Nice work

can't wait to see the final

03 March 2004, 12:51 PM
Interesting... very interesting :buttrock:
looks great for the future of your image... I wait impatiently the continuation...

03 March 2004, 01:27 PM (

I'm getting close to the final character design... But still left some points to create...
I'm working on it! :)
thanks everyone!!

03 March 2004, 06:21 PM
I'm surprised to not have post anything there ! What a great concept and cool
sketches !!
I keep it ut.
I stay tuned about your work.

03 March 2004, 11:52 PM
That bird is starting to look awsome! Love the pose showing of her back.

03 March 2004, 01:03 AM
Very nice detail. Deadly and frightfully beautiful, gotta love it!

03 March 2004, 04:59 PM
flowless work, keep the sckechs
comming =) :applause:

03 March 2004, 02:49 PM (

Well, I start to thinking in some composition and situations for the character.. is only a begining.
Also change little things in her design...
Thank's for the replys!
back to work :)

03 March 2004, 03:59 PM
Lot's of interesting ways ! Yo hae developped great ideas.

Nice to see hot killing babes :)

I love the last composition, it could be just awesome.

If you're not already familiar with his work, you should check out Dorian Cleavenger - he likes to combine eroticism (chiefly naked women) with fantasy and science-fiction. Might find some inspiration.
P.S Love the Goth theme so far

04 April 2004, 11:06 AM
I adore these faces of woman very expressive, strange and powerful, at the same time herotic and terrible, true beautiful sketches :applause:

04 April 2004, 09:09 PM (

More compositions studies. In the left, our girl attack a worker on roof. In the right, she take a man on the streets..then bring him to top of the buildings, for feed your hungry friends. The enviroment is a futurist world, some decades beyond our time. I will detailed the story later.
Thanks guys ! Let´s work!

04 April 2004, 11:03 PM
 Oooh... I like your idea. Very cool. You have some great compositions so far too. I dig the last one on the right. Where she's holding the dude from the street over the edge of the building. My favorite by far.

Keep on truckin' man. :bounce:

04 April 2004, 03:58 AM
WOW!! I'm Speechless... Do you draw comics for a living???
COOL MAN!! I'm waiting to see something really graceful and out of this world from you man!!!

04 April 2004, 05:33 AM
Very funny compositions, for an original interpretation, I'm in a hurry to see the final choice and the beginning of the realization in 3d.

It is indeed the stronger composition IMO.

04 April 2004, 09:37 AM
INSANE!!! dude that is just sweet

04 April 2004, 10:20 AM
You have such a cool style I love the vamp chics

Keep up the great work

04 April 2004, 12:32 PM
I like this sweet chic...

fine sketches, and exciting composition.
I'm waiting for the model...

04 April 2004, 01:43 PM
I love the idea, but, IMO, I would concentrate on the metalic jaws. The sole idea is great for a winning pic! Just add detail that shows the mechanism, and enjoy studying the union of metalic jaws with the rest of the face; it would be great, for sure. You just must have in mind those deep sea fishes, that extend their jaws 2 or 3 times their size...

04 April 2004, 02:21 PM
I wanna thank you guys, for the replys! It´s great receive this kind of feedback.

hdri : I work with idea of metallic jaws for while, but i don´t like the design too I decide take of the jaw.
however, you idea of those fishs, it seems very nice! so I thinking about again :)

Tremoside an Lemog : Thank's for you feedback, but I am not a 3d artist, model :( . My knowledge in that area is very basic...perhaps I modeling someday, who knows.

One more time, thanks everyone!

04 April 2004, 05:22 PM
Great concept, excellent work-
Keep it up, and thanks for visiting my forum too!
"The imposible is often the unattempted"
Have no fear of modeling, it is a tool just as a pencil is a tool, and an artist like yourself is what brings the tool to life-
keep up the good work!

04 April 2004, 06:02 PM (

I pickup one of the compositions for some color tests, really fast study.
I still thinking in other compositions...

04 April 2004, 02:41 AM

GREAT ART. Amazing work on compositions. !!!

04 April 2004, 09:19 AM
good idea removing the jaws ! Her face will be prettier...

Your final compsition is just great, I like it more than the previous one

04 April 2004, 09:39 AM
Cool!! Since you are testing the composition, how abt trying to sling the corpse over her shoulder in an unnatural pose like with belly upwards and looking like his spine is broken, or maybe show her feeding? Just some suggestions as it would be cool to see some more stuffs from you :D :applause:

04 April 2004, 10:40 AM
Please try to model she... all of us are waiting....

do you have an online portfolio?

keep up!!!:buttrock:

04 April 2004, 12:07 PM
awesome layout with the girl holding the guy over the building ledge! your colors are fantastic.

04 April 2004, 07:14 PM
Hello folks!

3distic : Thank's man!

Tremoside : I will try someday, I'm still learning about 3D.
I had my website, but a few weeks ago the server were I host the site I looking for a new one.

Ravendsg :Thank's for the sugestions!! Will try some other compositions!

bonestudio : Yes, that's what I think...

JR.BRAZ : Valeu cara! To pensando numa iluminação mais sombria sim.

Thank's everyone! I'm really glad!

04 April 2004, 04:43 PM
if your 3d can keep up with your 2d...i'm getting misty eyed here...tears of joy just at the thought:cry:

04 April 2004, 04:45 PM
ahh, wrong comp (3d) so safe to say i'm just seriously impressed!

04 April 2004, 07:55 PM (

A really quick sketch of the "wings adaptation" for the vamps. This is not for the main character, is for the background characters in the last composition.

04 April 2004, 02:42 AM (

This is a more realistic studie of the character. And I put some color, just testing...

04 April 2004, 07:53 AM
her right eye (the one left in frame----damn that always confuses me) is a bit high, but as it's a study don't think it matters.

Very nice mood,.... although you are losing lot of detail on the mechanical parts in the shadow there which is bit of a pity.

Looking forward to seeing more :bounce:

04 April 2004, 08:14 AM
Wow, looking very wicked. I love your last color. I was digging her as a redhead but I like the black hair too. Wicked stuff! Enjoying your progress. I'm kind of burning to do some color myself. This is an exciting contest!

04 April 2004, 12:15 PM
I love vamps!!! I think this idea is predestinated for this contest espacially for the flesh component...

04 April 2004, 12:41 PM
She has come a long way from the initial concept...but definitely for the best -- she's a real "man eater" !!

I agree with flyingP about the dark hiding the machine, but still like the dark ambience (esp. with the blue skin) so would suggest trying a gun metal colour for the machine parts rather than black so they might stand out better.

04 April 2004, 12:58 PM
Same remarks as drawmonger and flyingP. But your CG is becoming a great master piece with the colors !!
Keep it up, i like a lot your sketches !

04 April 2004, 01:16 PM
hello folks!

flyingP: Thank's man, I already noted about the eye and the black mechanical parts. I thinking use some dark gray, maybe, with lot durty on that parts.

Haven : I'm thinking about redhead too! thank's.

drawMonger: I will try some others color on the mechanical parts, thank's.

harnelbe Thank's

04 April 2004, 01:40 PM

That skin in blue light - or it is blue by itself- generates a fine chilly feel. probably you can operate with different colors on special areas, where the blood-pressure is more intensive in the body, like neck's veins.

Take my respect:applause:

04 April 2004, 04:28 PM
I like this tread.

04 April 2004, 10:11 PM
I really like this idea, It is nice seeing a color concept for the more finalized woman, and I like your style....Keep up the good work!

04 April 2004, 11:26 PM
Lookin real good - I'll wait until you finalize a design to offer more feedback. Keep it up!

04 April 2004, 06:08 AM (

Just having some fun, try other compositions for the character...Don't pay attention in anatomy and perspective troubles...Only studies to catch the scene movement.
Thank's everyone for the posts!

04 April 2004, 06:41 AM
These two compositions are very different...

the first... it's "action"...
the man at this moment don't know what's happend... (compositon too much super hero for me...)

The second... it's "horror"... less action it's maybe better to see all the details of the biomechanical girl.

Then, I prefer the second one

04 April 2004, 12:57 PM
if only i could draw like you
i like your drawing style and the actions in your sketch, remind me some comics

04 April 2004, 03:55 PM
Do you have something without tits?

04 April 2004, 08:11 PM
Hello guys!
Thank's all of you for the feedback, I have so much fun in this contest, and my work is getting better with your help. thank you.

MadX: Do you have some problems with tits?

well, let me explain::)
The nude is part of the vampire culture, is related with your power of seduction. Beatiful womem atract men ( and why not, other women.. ) for drink your blood. This is part of my concept. That´s why the charater have nude breast.

thanks for you commentaries!

04 April 2004, 08:34 PM
I agree with Lemog, she would do much better in a horror scene than an action scene. I have one question: will her victims have mechanical parts as well since it is a futuristic world or is it just the vampires?
Great work looking forward to see more

04 April 2004, 08:55 PM
Of all the comps, I really like the "horor" scene as it has been dubbed......Mainly because we see what she is doing with him....and can guess she probaby attacked him to get there if you show the victim tells the whole story....

the action scenes are great, But we arn't as a viewer without any writing, going to know what comes next unless you show could even bend her down to be licking blood off his torn up neck to add some spice.

Then again Mystery about her intentions could be great too, but it would need a lot of elements to suggest what may happen....

I hope this helps, I love your style, keep it up!

04 April 2004, 10:18 AM

And I always thought that little bit covered nude is more attractive than complete.

But it is possible not so, in the world of your characters. :)

04 April 2004, 01:19 PM

I think the same way, but...this character in particularly... the nude breast work better. Anyway, I thought in some alternatives for the case, maybe little leather straps, to cover her nipples...However, I'm searching for some ultility for the straps, no only aesthetic.
Thank´s dude:thumbsup:

04 April 2004, 10:04 PM

This is the coolest entry I've seen so far. You win man, I give up.
My favorite composition is the one of the girl laying on the edge of the roof with the man in her arms. Looking forward to seeing this finished.

04 April 2004, 08:47 AM
I vote on the right one of the compositions. less action more expression. let the situation talk not the movement.

04 April 2004, 10:19 AM
Bloodtaster. man no doubt you have lot of talent man. not everyday i see sketchs like this this is absolutly great draws. i want to see the final version man.

04 April 2004, 01:34 PM
Very cool graphics!!

04 April 2004, 03:20 AM
Thank's folks!
I very glad with your replys, I'm happy that you guys like my work
thank you very much.
Sorry for no posting in the last days, kind a busy with other projects.. update soon!!!

see ya

04 April 2004, 12:41 AM (

Well, I work better on the "roof guy" composition...i think is better now. Isn't final, still thinking... sorry for little proportions problems, really quick sketch

04 April 2004, 03:00 AM
Bem legal. De todas as composições, a que eu mais gostei foi a dessa cena mesmo. Dá para ver a superioridade dela sobre a vítima e ao mesmo tempo, sua sensualidade e todos os detalhes da cena.

Continue firme e mostre a força dos brazucas

Amazing work. :applause:
I love this composition. For me, this is the best one.

04 April 2004, 03:50 AM
looks good dude:thumbsup:

04 April 2004, 03:20 AM (

I thinking this one as the final composition. So, working in some colors...

04 April 2004, 11:35 PM
I wanna be that man over there:drool:

crit: If I were should use more contrast between background and foreground. for eg: streetlamps or light from below.

KEEP IT UPpppp:bounce:

04 April 2004, 01:30 AM
Your drawings and the concept are some of the best i've ever seen. i have worked in advertising in the past, i think you can win. although i like the nudity and the graphic violence, i think you should consider concealing the nipples and excess blood. the reason i say this is because i think you would have a better chance of winning if you do. the people that pick the winners may very well be planning on advertising the work of the winner. anyway, i would hate to have to say that to such cool work, but it might be worth considering if you want to win, which i definately know you can! my 2 cents-

04 April 2004, 02:19 AM

04 April 2004, 03:33 AM
Hey guys!

Ducklips and Jr.Braz : I really apreciate your considerantion with me and my work. I confess that it stows thinking about those things ... but it was trying be more faithful with vampire teme...
lot of blood and sexuality....But i guess you guys is right...i will take easy, and made some modificacions. Made a ilustration for all ages ;)

Thank's a lot!!

Valeu Jr.: vo pegar mais leve entaum... tentar agradar mais a todo mundo....mas que eu gosto de um sanquezinho jorrando, ah isso eu gosto

04 April 2004, 07:03 PM
Okay, I am going to throw my two cents in,

I have worked in Advertising, and in fact have my degree in Graphic Design for what it is worth....

I think it depends on the market....Ducklips has a valid point..However, The advertising in most of Europe is very different and more sexually oriented, it tends to be American markets that are conservative.

Another thought....I was just reading the FAQs last night and this actually came up. If you have read the policy upon sign up and are working within those bounds it should be alright. This is unofficial - but you should scan through and find that question in the FAQs....

I agree that the nudity and violence actually defines this character and I do not believe it is too excessive with the chosen final. Although It is important to not make it uncharactaristically so.

GOOD work...I love this pick and the perspective it holds.

That's where those good ol' black strips come in handy :D

04 April 2004, 09:32 PM
Nice drawing but i trust you will go clean up the lines for the next step of your drawing. More shading and illumination for effect would do nice also, there are a lot of lights in the big cities like the one in your background: police cars, publicity panels, store names.... Keep up the good work and good luck!

04 April 2004, 02:06 AM (

There is, a detail of lineart based on the roof guy composition. No shadow..just lines, usually I work on shadows on coloring process. So don't worry, the things will gonna be very dark ;) I aprecciate all replys, really glad of your feedback.

04 April 2004, 01:41 PM
Great drawing!! I love her!

Great pose, too.

Only thing for me to complain about are her breasts. They look a little downcast by her top.

Breasts are very important for us in Bavaria. :D

Sorry about that comment, but I had to.;)

Can´t await to see your color work.

04 April 2004, 04:07 PM
Good work

Keep working

04 April 2004, 04:21 PM
BloodTaster -> You win, now, I want to model her in 3d
I'm in agreement with locusta, her breasts are really too timid (with my taste)...

Locution -> In the north of France, it's very important too :D

04 April 2004, 04:43 PM
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Nice...tons of good concept. U are going all out for this. Can't wait to see the one u are going to finalize.

04 April 2004, 07:08 PM
good job  but i do agree on the breasts

04 April 2004, 10:32 PM
...went through the whole thread and all the sketches...
...again... this is really one of those threads you don't
comment on ( well usually , anyways :p ) , just silently
wait for the next update ...

04 April 2004, 11:18 PM
fantastic work dude,

love the eyes...

with all those implants bigger breasts would be nicer...;)

04 April 2004, 02:06 AM
very cool vinicius..

I look forward to seeing more work... and I do appreciate the nudity.. I am a big fan of nude or half nude heroins myself...

If you get a chance hop over to my entry.. I think you will be into it.

..and have to ask... would you mind if I came up with a concept
of a character that would hunt your character? It would stay true to the classic stories and may add a fun twist to designing the characters... I would like to give it at least one shot.

and again..awsome work..!

04 April 2004, 02:53 AM
great work! every post has very interesting details... I'll keep an eye on this 'til you get a place on final selection, man!
eer.. nice web portfolio by the way... will you translate it to english? pocos trabalhos, mais muito talento :D jaja no hablo portugués, pero está excelente tu trabajo :p

04 April 2004, 03:52 AM
Wow, I very glad of all comments, really thank you!!

akela : thank's , I think about translate my website, but I don't have time now..

shawnalanpeters : Yeah, I appreciate the nude too  and man... be confortable to do every you want, maybe a cyber- VAN-HELLSING!

element5, Squibbit, blueglitchman, XIA, Lemog,JR.BRAZ, Locusta : thank you guys! and don´t worry the breast will come back!!!

04 April 2004, 03:54 AM
great detail in the legs man. Love the hair flow as well.

ir econ the nose could be a little higher, it would make her look more lady like... just a suggestion

everything else is good

04 April 2004, 04:24 AM (

Well folks, I start a second line art...don´t like very much of the pose and look of the first. So start a new one.. with some modificacions.
The breast are back, but no entire nude. I change her hair, more agressive and she will have some tatoos...The machine parts had small changes, like the knees..and the legs. Another thing... she win a new friend, a cyber-crow, who will help to hunt your victims. Soon I post more details..and more image uptades!!

04 April 2004, 05:02 AM

Those eyes man, the whole expression is outstanding. The hair is great and i like the idea crow idea (eye in the sky) nice touch.

04 April 2004, 05:13 AM
good stuff dude

04 April 2004, 05:51 AM
Hey Blood, looking great man. I see you covered her breasts. Hmmm, I think if you do this, the coverings should be the same type of material as the rest of what she's wearing, that nice black metal and red glowing. You could really do nice things with the red against breast plates. The cloth doesnt work in my opinion because nowhere else does she wear anything of cloth.

I love the adding of the crow, cool idea. If you really wanted to go traditional vampire, you could go with a bat, but I like the crow better, hehe. Anyway I'm enjoying your entry a lot and the stages you're providing.

04 April 2004, 06:00 AM
nice line ! the shape is coming nicely ! keep the good work

04 April 2004, 10:17 AM
Fu**ing awesome man nothing else to say.

04 April 2004, 01:38 PM (

There is the crow...some studies. He will keep the eye in the possible victims for the vamp.
soon more details..
back to work!

04 April 2004, 02:45 PM a woman....I can assure you my breasts are VERY IMPORTANT TO ME....and I will share that, no matter how large...if strapped down by -anything- that will stay in place for longer than 2 seconds, they will realistically push in.....

SO - I nominate breasts from the first line - and head from the second ;}

sorry if I shared too much, but only plastic breasts don't go inwards.

04 April 2004, 06:14 PM
REALLY nice updates, and love that crow, just comment to that crow though somehow he looks a bit too "nice" if you know what I mean.

04 April 2004, 08:39 PM
Thanks everyone for feedback my entries

flyingP : I now what you mean, the crow need looks more 'evil',
more changing are coming

04 April 2004, 12:01 AM
looks good

04 April 2004, 12:46 AM
Nice updates. The new eyes and hair transformer she in a real vampire  . In first line art she looks more a good hero than a vampire hunting victims. And the crow idea is amazing too, but like you say, needs to be more evil.

Muito legal Vinicius. O novo cabelo, os olhos e a boca aberta mostrando as presas deram um visual bem agressivo a sua vampira. Agora realmente parece que ela está caçando vitimas inocentes. :surprised

Estou de olho

Awesome work keep it

04 April 2004, 09:14 AM
Very nice work yourself. Since our entries are so close I may have to rethink mine. Good thing there is still a chunk of time left ;)

Just a line art update,

04 April 2004, 10:23 PM
maybe change the victim's face to look as he's still barely
conscious ,trying to understand where he is and what's
going on ? ... struggling vainly maybe ? ... pleading ? ...
fighting even , against all that machine power ..with
some weapon ? ...

change or stay , very nice work

04 April 2004, 10:58 PM
I'm loving this so damn much. Are you by chance going to be selling posters of the finished product? I would definitly buy.

04 April 2004, 11:01 PM

04 April 2004, 07:14 PM
Absolutely fantastic! :buttrock:

I really really REALLY like your style. It has excellent form and shape, and great lines.

Your concept is very good; a great looking, and interesting, character. Can't wait to see more.

Good luck!

04 April 2004, 07:59 PM
Vinicius, I took a shot at making a hunter for your character.
But I had a hard time coming up with a way to kill them. They are regular dead people with life giving mechanical aid...and programed desire for blood. so a wood stake, silver, holy water
sunlight and crosses would not have any effect. The only thing I could come up with was ..simply blow them away with a gun strong enough. ...That was to dull, so I opted for killing traditional vampires. Take a look. I am wondering if you have any ideas or sugesstions.

Hey guys. I'm really busy on work, so i could post nothing in the last days. but every day a draw a little, and soon i will uptade.

Squibbit >> thanks fo the tip man!
Shaykai >> I´m glad , if i make prints, they will cost really expensive, for prints :(
blueglitchman, modelFarm, M25Driver>>thanks !
shawnalanpeters >> Your hunter character is coming great!!
thanks everyone!!

04 April 2004, 11:27 AM
@shawnalanpeters: better use a electromagnetic pulse gun. It will mess up the machine part. As for the ideea, better call them "mechanical blood colectors". Imagine the mankind is touched by a rare blood disease in some future time. the wealthy people will rise soldiers of the night to collect healthy blood for transfusions.
Am I evil or what?:p

Kick ass Line Art
are you some pro comic book artist??
Love it!!!

05 May 2004, 07:29 AM
Awesome, the line work really makes the image pop. Congrats on getting to this stage of your image, i look forward to seeing more in colour. Do you think you will change anything else or add anything more to the image even though youve gone this far?

I mean in some of your earlier stuff you had another vamp in the background siluetted by the moon, do you have any plans in that respect?

Very tight image, love it, if your line work is looking this good then the rest will surely be sweet.

05 May 2004, 07:33 AM
pretty intense line work, she looks great and the perspective in the background makes it. Looking forward to the colour.

Wonderful line art. This job is perfect.

The color tests are magnific, I love the putrefy aspect veins and the cold color scheme!

The scenary is awesome... I can imagine the colors in the night... maybe like the "Hairesis" scene, with some neon lights?...)

but what is she doin with that guy?

keep it up. :applause:

05 May 2004, 08:54 AM
Very nice clean lines with your ink. This should be a lot of fun in Photoshop to color. Thus, since your going comicbook style, inacase your already not a master, try looking up some of the colors Liquid studios do in there comicbooks, might help in the overal picture. They are by far the best colorists in the industry for comic mediums. Keep up the good work

05 May 2004, 12:40 AM
I love your line art, great work
I want to see your color WIP

05 May 2004, 03:43 PM (

Hello guys!
Well. here is the first coloring wip. I've been thinking and decide work with diferent type of coloring. Some like, a mix with comic book and anime, style of get more attention to lines...

05 May 2004, 04:04 PM
Wow, I really enjoy watching you progress...

I've been tunning along since the early concept stage, and I can't wait to see the outcome!

No crit whatsoever, Wanna see more!

05 May 2004, 07:55 PM
gee.. very comic book;)

05 May 2004, 11:44 PM

1. The background will be darkness? ( this scene is noturne?) - I think in sunset hour, with the magenta-red sky... maybe this valores your intense job with the lines in the city... well, ignore my suggest, is only a comment.

2. The color of the hair... I prefer white.

3. Floating Cars!!! Like in Hairesis! hehehe

4. Keep the good job.

Hope to see soon more colors!

05 May 2004, 01:02 AM
Very nice...

05 May 2004, 05:02 AM
Keep it going, looks like its coming along really nicely, i guess it all sort of comes down to how well your initial inking and line work are done, then the rest is pretty easy, right? BTW You using Photoshop or painter?

Looking sweet, cant wait to see the final image. :buttrock: :D

05 May 2004, 07:47 AM
Nice concept, but artistic performance not so well as can be.
1.Her body too short
2. Pose lil bit strange
3.Legs very thick
any way kewl details.

05 May 2004, 07:47 AM

05 May 2004, 11:57 AM
Hi, the design of the mecha body is really cool.
I like your style in your conceptual sketches. The choice of hair colour and style compare to the earlier ones ,which has long hair, definitely suits a "techno vamp" theme. It seems like the expression of the character is like been caught in surprise, like she's been caught in a spot light, with the narrowing of the pupils. I thought in giving it a meaner look, like more frown lices between the eyes could bring out a more fierce character (if that's what you want)

Great composition. Looking forward to your future postings.

05 May 2004, 12:47 PM
Both idea and execution are top notch me thinks.

You are going to land this one nicely.
This kind of stuff makes me want to get crankin on my own illustrations.

Inspirational stuff!!

05 May 2004, 02:16 PM
Hi everyone!

sketchfiend>> For this, I'm using only photoshop, but some things i will use painter... and only mouse

green.7>> I appreciate your reply, its very nice have some critics about my work
1.Her body too short">> I put really attention to anatomy, its not perfect, but study every time i can, to get better in this. I see your portifolio on the web, and you already know, the anatomy study take years, (maybe a lifetime) and never end.
2. Pose lil bit strange>> well..maybe
3.Legs very thick>>maybe, but, completing i have said on the nunber one... is a stylized draw, some modificacions are done. Its very robust vamp ;)
thanks man, for your comments!

kaen and ailu >> thx! i'm glad you liked!

back to work!

05 May 2004, 02:58 PM
nice coloring! i like the strong legs. she can jumb very well then, huh? :D
the white hair is great. :scream:
but the guy looks more sad than scared :D

and you will see why:thumbsup:

05 May 2004, 08:30 PM (

Some background colors skecthes...i've been thinking about a night or sunset scene...
Now i'm working on the colors of the characters...
thanks you guys for the feedback!!

05 May 2004, 09:51 PM
I like it man, but her right arm is too short. Also check the position the knee armor...both are facing directly towards camera. If you turned her left knee pad a bit to the viewer's right it would read better. In terms of color schemes, I like the second one the best, it has more mood. With some good use of saturation you can seperate the fore/mid/and back grounds of the image nicely. A nice rimlight on the vamp chick will really make her pop. How about giving her mechanical fangs?. One last thing, it might be nice to have two bloody puncture marks on the guy's neck and a nice bloodstain on his shirt.

First time I checked this thread - I think you have a cool idea!

05 May 2004, 01:43 PM
Thanks for the critics Blackarts! I see, what I can do about it the things you said.

05 May 2004, 02:25 PM
kool really comic in a scene action. Juz the for shortening only it looks real nice overall ^ ^

05 May 2004, 03:58 PM
I like both the red and the blue. But I prefer the blue. It goes well with the characters own, cold, colors. And a moon realy belongs in a vampire scene. Its a mynt only warewolfs enjoy it...

Anyway it looks good!

My machine flesh challenge entry:

05 May 2004, 04:55 PM
woah, how have i missed this before now, this is sweet stuff! Even though the backgrounds arent necessarily a part of the competition, I have to say, it's very well done. And the character idea is great. Your sketches leading up to it are superb. If you arent already doing comics work, you should be.

The sunset and night scenes are both bery striking but I would go with the night scene as the red is a bit too bold and distracts from the character herself. Plus the bluish tones for the night scene make the reds on her tech more striking and draw even more attention to "her" rather than her surroundings.

Nice work! I'll be watching for more and busting my ass to improve my own concep because otherwise you're gonna kick my butt at this competition, heheh.

05 May 2004, 05:45 PM
great drawing!
I really like the night scene...
I don't know how concern you are about the lighting with the moon and should try some quick color tests and you may find something more dramatic...i'm sure you must be also concern about loosing part of the drawing... so be carefull
Another thing that I really notice is the neon design in the victims the first thing my eye was going should think about the focus of the whole painting and have the colors work towards the main subject.
overall I think the drawing is well thought out and the color choices seem to be working well with the subject.

05 May 2004, 03:15 AM
Wow, i'm really glad with feedback!! there are great and relevants comments! thx!!!

Isabelle>> Thanks! And I agree with you
feeesh>> Well, i think the background can help us, know more about the character...and I agree whith the night see, thxs!
mobot>> I"m thinking about the neon:thumbsup:

05 May 2004, 03:28 AM

the colors are very beautiful. I dont now how is more beautiful. The night is more conceptual, the red sunset is more incomum.

- You like the "aquiles bradd" movie?

Well, j

Just keep this awesome job

good look man.

05 May 2004, 07:13 AM
yupyup.... i'd agree with some of the other comments...

go for the blue tones...

lookin' good....

05 May 2004, 07:37 AM
just had a thought pop up :lightbulb :lightbulb form londeros comment about the background tone, the sunsetrise for the background would be awesome as it would give you the opportnity to add things like smoke or riseing from her skin.

Vampires hate sunlight so you could render in bits of her arms burning away to reveal wires or more mechanical parts. The sun rise tone for the background would definately give the sense of urgency to the kill shes about to perform. she needs to feed before the sun.... comes.....UP^^ :D

05 May 2004, 08:28 AM
the red seems more "alert" than blue, since vampires lives in the night the blue seems to be more natural to the mood :hmm:

keep it up,

05 May 2004, 09:28 AM
Yeah, keep to the blue. Is more gothic also. The background looks great, almost "Gotham city"-like:D
Great work! Keep it so!

05 May 2004, 11:59 AM
Go the blue background.....

05 May 2004, 11:01 PM
despite the night background being slightly more relevant to the gothic theme, I'm drawn to the sunset version.

the tones and highlights on the buildings add depth to the piece - also like the smoke idea Sketchfiend mentioned.

Some really great stuff here - really love the sketches - like the type (logo) too:thumbsup:

05 May 2004, 03:57 AM
Thanks for awesome feedback guys!!
londero>> thx, man! About the movie, well...:hmm:
duddlebug>> I still thinking...
sketchfiend>> Man, GREAT IDEA!! I'm in doubt again...thxs a lot!
Russo>> I agree man, valeu cara!
Avatarr and element5>> thxs dude!
MrFreeman>> well, i really thinking in this possibility

05 May 2004, 08:32 AM
Just getting a quick vote in for the red toned version :)

05 May 2004, 11:17 PM
Hello guys!
Thanks for the feedback, and sorry about the updates, but i can't submit my work...i don't now whas going on..every time then i submit my picture, i get this:

someone know what is it?

05 May 2004, 01:29 AM
I vote for the red too...more powerfull that the blue one which is, maybe a little classical...but in fact...that could be fine if you make a crazy night mood...:hmm: ........................AAAAAaaaaaaaarhhhhhhhh....
WHY DON'T YOU TRY GREEN ???????

Sorry sorry i just kidding...

Seriously...try a red night, nono I'm serious.
Great work man:thumbsup:

05 May 2004, 03:15 AM

I am suspect, I had sugest the red a long time...

but my vote is

to red...

I think in the originality...

In the general atmosphere...

In the contrast VAMP - BACK...

Just working in some shadows and lines...
i not sure about the back yet, still thinking...soon i will post some close-ups...

05 May 2004, 06:50 PM
You have chosen to use blue light from below it seems. So why not use the best of both. Use blue light at down and front. After that use red background. Red is actually making me of thinking of morning so maybe that poor sod still haves a chance to stay alive!

I have no idea would that combined lighting work. Maybe you can try?

05 May 2004, 07:48 PM
I had the exact same error while uploading...
Only thing i could do was making my pic alot smaller, lover its resolution....Weird and anoying as hell

Some close-ups...
Still thinking in the back.... the votation on the thread is 7x7
so, let me now are you thinking!!
thx guys!

05 May 2004, 10:37 AM
I vote on the blue version...but the contrast with the red one is better, maybe if you will paint some reflections or backlights on her this problem will be solved.
The tattoo is a cute and ironic idea at the same time...that sense of humour..

05 May 2004, 12:33 PM
Tremoside>> Yeps, i think the same about the blue version...about the tatoo, thanks, this idea is inspired on the vertigo comic book, and work fine for character...but is not definitive.

05 May 2004, 03:07 PM
a small thing...the running mascara from her left eye seems to flatten her cheek bone.

it's night time so i vote for blue...cities are rather bright at night so agree that it needs more contrast. also red changes the skin and hair which i *really* like in the blue version.

05 May 2004, 08:32 PM
Thank`s for coming
I see your work developes in really impresive way.I like this mood of comic drawing.Really expresive, full of energy.

06 June 2004, 11:22 AM
Hello, Vinicius:
IMO, the blueish version is more interesting. Cold colors look far, warm colors look closer. The blue BG helps to add deepness to your pic. Also the moon is very helpful in the comp. But if you choose the blue one, I would add some warmer colors to the foreground -not too warm, but just enough to separate your characters from the background. It would be nice to add strong blue lighting to the characters from backwards, just enough to enhance the silouettes. It's useful to enhance the volumes and separate them from the BG (just have a look to the way people is lighted on TV news..). Sorry for my english, I'm not sure it is clear what I mean...

Either way mate, the image you have has laid some really good ground work so whichever way you would have chosen to go the final image would still look awesome. Youve got great skills, keep it up. Ill look forward to your next update. :D

I've just went through all your work and I have to say it's really something. I especially like some of your earlier concept scetches and I am quite impressed with your perspectives. Keep it up

Awesome work so far! I think the blue one is a good choice. The red one looks great and all, but as you said, the blue one fits more with a vampire mood. Plus that just makes the glowing red areas of your vampire stick out all the more.

06 June 2004, 08:21 AM
yea, the blue bg is a great suggestion, but u may put some res lights as well... not too much, just to get this sunrise atmosphere... so its about time that the vampire has to vanished, hide.. but thats her last victim for today... or something :) just some suggestions that may not be worth a thing :)
06 June 2004, 05:05 PM
Dude, i hope u find time to continue to do this amazing things!!!!
I agree that some red lights in the blue BG will be cool, just a litlle, some neon lights like in haeresis too. Well, you know what you're doing, keep the good job!!!!

FREAKING COOL bud!!!! love what youve created, the clouds in the background look excellent, they really suit the mood and style of your piece. I assuming youre still going to add other elements to the cityscape. It looks kind of monochrome atm, i feel you should as some lighting or some sort of neon flares coming from underneath the steel girders of what looks like a raise rail track.

As i said before dude, the picture is awsome, well done...i look forward to seeing more. Keep it up.:D  :bounce:

06 June 2004, 05:49 PM
Very well done! Especially with mouse! :surprised The clouds look extrememly good. My only question is if you are going to bring the rest of the image up to the quality of the clouds and sky? Right now they seem to pop in front of the city because they are more detailed than the buildings. I think it's the general graphic style you use on your image versus the more realistic rendering of the clouds... Although this might just be me :p

Great stuff!
Tá ficando mto bom, Vinicius!

06 June 2004, 06:04 PM
I love the last update!!! The only thing I noticed that seems a little odd is the source of the light, you have the moon in the top left corner, but the lighting on the character is coming from the far right. I am not sure if this is intensional, but it does seem a little weird. Perhaps some suddle highlights on the shadow areas of the character would help it.

Other then that, your work is looking amazing!!!:applause:

06 June 2004, 08:04 PM
Thanks guys!
About the piece, i will finish the painting of the buldings... work on ilumination of the back, add some elements and etc...
don't worry dudes!... in the final, all will be fit to incase.

Man, i have NOTHING to say other than YOU RULES!!!

great stuff it

06 June 2004, 12:48 PM
Great... Really, its come render a masterpiece.

but... the two red lights on in tower are strange... they bright more than moon... maybe only two minuscle redpoints can help, or no, maybe it no constitues a problem...

Vinícius, dá uma olhada aí, sabe como é... o bom mesmo era olhar uma antena contra a lua e ver como é que fica na real.

Tchêloco, os butiá já caíram dos bolso, faz tempo!!! abraço aí!
