View Full Version : Panda Fur help

07 July 2002, 02:15 PM
Hi there, I'm a new 3D student learning 3D studio Max. I am working on an assignment to create a model. I am making a Panda. I am playing around with shag: fur but cannot seem to get the right appearance. Does anyone have any suggestions, tips etc on making good black/white panda fur???
Many thanks - cgtalk rocks :buttrock:

Hey there base69 :) Welcome to the forum!

Hmmm... from what I've heard, Shag fur really sucks, so I'm not quite sure how to help you, seeing as I don't use max anymore, and I've never used Shag :p

Does Shag get it's colour from the colour map?

Thanks Leigh,

What other options are out there to do fur/hair for Max?

Yes, Shag can get its colour from the material (via material id)
or you can assign it directly.

Thanks anyway

Hmmm I don't know of any other hair engine for Max...

Well, if the hair can take it's colour from the colour map, then that part is sorted
Then it's just a matter of tweaking the fur settings...
Is there anyone else here who can help??
