This is the start of the dog-based mechanical thing. I figured I would start with the normal dog head and see where it goes. This is also my first ever attempt at drawing stuff on the computer so we'll see how it turns out. I used GIMP and a mouse. I will upload a concept sketch as soon as I find a scanner.

Again, this is my first time doing stuff off-paper. I've never done too many color works on paper either. The coloring is going to be pretty tough.

Ok, so its a nice start I think. I used a 3x3 circular brush to draw different colors and then I used a 3x3 circular smudge tool to create fur and other effects. Obviously, it isn't realistic at all. I could certainly use suggestions as to how I would achieve fur effects that are better than what I got so far.

Ok, I realize I didnt tell much about the concept. Its basically a programmable pet. The head piece contains a mini-computer that receives instructions through a port and uses the spinal/brain tap (whose protrusion has vents on top) to have the enhanced dog do stuff. The particulars of the body will appear later. But it has an enhanced heart and part of the circulatory system is replaced. The entire digesetive system is replaced by a container for receiving processed energy elements. So anyway, I stopped working on the fur and started adding the head piece and give him a trim from mid-neck down.
