i was playing in painter, and my base coat here looked a little like circuitry to me... so i took it into photoshop...

03 March 2004, 09:07 PM (

plenty of photoshop work done here... i don't normally work in this style so i have no idea if this is any good. can anyone else but me still see the figure?

03 March 2004, 09:41 AM
Hey Chris :wavey:

That's almost abstract, but yeah I can see the figure just fine. I like the circuit design that you've come up with. Looking forward to seeing where you go with it next.

03 March 2004, 04:33 PM (

added circuitry to the figure, but i'm not sure i like it... i was looking through ghost in the shell and there was a painting of the chick in stockings and gloves with a circuitry patter on them, but it was much smaller/intricate, so i think i might go back a step from this and redo it more like that...

Woaw, a really artistic work

It look like an oil paint. I like it.

The association of the red and green is really hard.

i am in love in your work its realy beautiful:)

03 March 2004, 03:49 PM
thanks everyone:) i hope to have an update soon. i wound up taking it into flash to create the lines (rather than try to make them by hand in photoshop) and i think the new circuitry looks better.

03 March 2004, 09:07 PM (

the circuitry i made in flash

03 March 2004, 09:12 PM (

new circuits overlayed onto the color image. i might do more circuits, but i kinda like the way they blend into the muscle like lines of the painting. One of the concepts in ghost in the shell is a bio-circuit that is 'grown'... and the circuit/muscle look makes me think of that.

I still need to mess with the blending mode of the circuits, as right now they're simply pasted on top...

Nice stuff Chris.

I like the traditional oil look. Its also nice that the image portrays a clear emotion. Were you going to give the circuits a charged living look or were you going to try to integrate them more into the image and the overall sytle of the image?

Thanks for all the comments :)

I think it's about done now: circuitry looks pretty good; revamped some of the background circuitry; i think the only thing i might do is adjust the little extra glow around some of the circuits... i need to give it a day or two and see what i think then.

Very cool and artistic!
I have a suggestion- add a very realistic eye on the characters face- it can be a center of attraction and a disturbing element in your composition- just a suggestion.
I would appreciate some feedback on my posts.

I seem to have missed this one so far, pity because I REALLY like it. You've managed to add a very nice artistic flair in there and still kept the concept very clear. :applause:

Very cool work, so full and complete.

Very nice !
Amazing 2D skills !

He is comming along beautifully, and I LOVE the position and the circuitry.

My suggestion would be to dull down the contrast around him so that he becomes more the focal point with what you're doing with his skin and body. The red and green are attracting a lot of attention because of their relationship to eachother, and it is drawing my attention away from him more than I want it to.

Just a thought ;} and again, wonderful job

i really like the progression of your work, at first i didn't think much of it, but after you added the color and then circuitry it really amazed me. keep up the good work!

I like the colours and how they ar broken up my he black fields.
: ) Its a very artistic feeling thats way mor traditional art then digital art. Lovely!

My first color wip with the circuits fits into the line art milestone too; i just didn't realize how bad hand-drawn circuits looked until i did it. oh well. anyways, this is my rough line drawing of what i was going after...

i haven't forgotten your comments Shinwa. good comments, i'm going to give them a try and see how they look!

06 June 2004, 10:41 PM (

think i might be about done here... darkened the bg around the head, added a few 'sparkles', emphasized some of the circuitry more...

thanks for all the feedback, folks! :)

I like it! It seems useful for a whole bunch of machineflesh-related posters / events.

Yeah, I'd not be surprised finding this in Graphis, Print,....
Great "advertising" jewel Chris. Unique and extremely
interesting!
best luck

I agree, its very graphics designs kinda work. Very unusual to find here dude, and you executed it beautifully. Great! :applause:

06 June 2004, 12:13 AM (

Yup, I'm done, which is good because at 40+ layers it's getting a little difficult to mess with.

Thanks to all for their comments and crits! and good luck to you all, too!
