i decided to do something a bit out of the ordinary, deliberating on the idea of something that is both organic and mechanical i came up with my concept. man combined with machine has become quite a classic sci fi theme so i decided to take it one step further and thought : what if even a being like God had some sort of mechanical enhancements? what would it take to make something omnipresent and all seeing. i dont mean to offend anyone, its just fanciful speculation... this is my first idea for the pic but it'll probebly evolve as i go along...

Wait to see more...
03 March 2004, 08:08 AM
i think the 'god' is an interesting idea...
interested in seeing more..........

Sweeet. Typical stuff from you my man. Guess I should have figured you would do something that had godhood as a theme. Egomaniacal freak that you are.
Send me my work damn it!! Been waiting for a week.
Cheers buddy. Looks cool

04 April 2004, 07:25 PM
heres my first concept in colour, a person looking up at the sky and God staring down at him through a funky looking telescope with all sorts of mechanical odds and ends to it...

04 April 2004, 09:38 PM
Very cool Mike Very cool
04 April 2004, 05:14 AM
i like this man. you got an abstract aproach (or it looks it from this concept). Is the telescope going to be attached to flesh?
04 April 2004, 05:21 PM
i think i am gonna take more of an abstract approach but it will still be attatched to flesh, im also gonna do a more detailed pic of Gods machine so that the viewer gets more of an idea of whats going on, it will be the next pic i do...
thanks for the encouragement everyone...

Very cool as always. Just remember the machine-flesh aspect, I'm not sure what they want exactly but a metaphysical deity kitted out with a built in zoom lens that isn't obvious might be a bit cerebral.
That was my pompous way of saying they may want to see the co-existence of machinery and flesh. Maybe a pipe connecting the guy to the god?
04 April 2004, 08:29 AM
You've got a nice sense of composition. I like the subtle color variation and texture work.
Good work !
04 April 2004, 12:21 PM
Wow really like your style and coloring, Emrys has shown me some of your other work and I am really keen on seeing this one when it is finished, the only concern that i have is will it fit in to the machine flesh idea. BUt other than that is brilliant makes me want to work harder on mine.
04 April 2004, 09:13 PM
thanks sigfire, cuppacam, polart and dloots your comments are appreciated, im starting to work on the final linedrawing this week. i will be making it a little less abstract so you will see the amalgamation of machine and flesh!!! ha ha!
04 April 2004, 07:07 AM
nice color and composition
04 April 2004, 04:33 PM
here is the beginning of my final linework drawing for the challenge... its basically God connected to a bunch of pipes and stuff... there will be other things happening in the drawing to.
no where near the colouring stage yet but i'm really enjoying this. had a bit of a dry patch with drawing lately but it seems to be cured...
