So here we go again ^^

So, I have more experience this time, maybe I'll get the work done in a more linear fashion than last time, when most of the work was done in the last two weeks of the contest :D

Hope this will be as much fun as the alienware contest.

So, my first concept.
The idea was that some people were sacrificed and turned into "guardian angels" by adding mechanical wings and probably some weapons. These people would then be "freaks" that could not function in social life, and were forced to defend the cities.

Maybe a bit thin, I don't know. Something will change I guess

Anyway, the concept was created by drawing a sketch by hand, and compositing and tweaking in photoshop.
The person in the picture is floating in the air, in case you couldn't tell ^^

C&C are most welcome. Ideas for improvements even more.

So, this is the first attempt on some wings (actually 5th, but that's not official ^^)
Think they look kind of nice. Impossible to animate the way they are now, so I'm glad this is a still contest.
Procedurally modelled. I don't have the patience to take one feather at a time, and I felt bumps/displacements would do no good here.
Still thinking about the things that will make my character unique... Haven't thought of too much yet. :/

Nothing special. Well, I haven't modelled a head lookin that good before, but other than that ^^

The head won't be much in sight anyway, and the way I think it will be now, is that only the bottom part of the face will show from the shadows of the cloak.

Still think it looks a bit weird though. It is supposed to be human, so... C&C are welcome.

Hey mate, came to see your progress. Sooooo you don't like your pencil. mhmmmmm, I dare to advice you work on your friendship with him. He can be a very good friend. So now what I came for:

The wings are very very cool. The head needs many corrections. Even if the head will not be full visable, pay him the same attention you paid your wings. Every detail.

Hers a few tips to work on the tweakings:
Get yourself a handmirror, this is a good tool for getting pain in the neck hahaha, just kidding, mean studing anatomical details.
Make elements. Nose. Mouth, Cheeks, Eyes and the flesh around Study them, and how they are built together.
Get your Mom to your side, if the mirror thing sux. Ask her to stand still for hours. She'll appreciate for sure. Make yourself notes about proportions and angles from al possible perspectives.

Or make photos of your Girlfriend. (A good chance to make nudepics of her ;)) ...and then, start tweakings based on your notes.

To help you, here's a checklist:
-The eyes are in the middle of the height of a head
-Theres an eye widh distance betw. the eyes
-The mouth widh fits more or less between the pupils
-the chin-mouth-to-nose part around the mouth builds a samesided fivecorner shape , starting where the nosewings meet the cheeks, enlarging that line towarts the nose
The backhead build a shpere (bit chopped off on the sides, thats where the ears get placed...
The part under the eyes in the case of your model is too long.
There's much time.

Enjoy it and use it to do all that helps you to make your best model ever :)

Another update. Hope I'm not boring anyone ^^

The head looks more human every time :)

Made the wings more bird-like instead of those butterfly-shaped ones before. Feel that is better.

Maybe I'll dare to pick up my pencil, and sketch some of the further progress. Think I'll try that, but I can't promise anything :D

A more developed concept. Think I'll be adding more details to this later. Just needed to get the proportions and feel somewhat right first.
Trying to concept my thoughts before I get into the serious modeling... Will be much easier that way, not that I've ever tried it =)

Great sketch Jorgen! Keep on that, and... hehe, try to get used to splines or nurbs, so the drawing pays out 1:1, your new sketch looks really good!!!

I already do most of my modeling in nurbs, although my skills with it could've been better :D

Still wondering about mechanical details and stuff...
I feel everything I come up with is very used, or seen on other entries in the challenge. I'll think of something, I guess :shrug:

Have been modeling a torso that I'm pretty pleased with at the moment, so I guess I'll upload it later

So, the body is taking shape.
Nothing is connected yet, but a lot of the body will be hidden under clothes and other gear. And some parts will be replaced with mechanical parts.
Arms need more work though...
