Initial idea: Police Fly chacing rebel Head-Spider.

This should be a humor one.
By the way Head-Spider shows the finger.
Is that going to be a problem?
Should I leave that out?
I think it should not.

Start.Modeling space for the Head.

working on legs/tentacles

03-17-2004, 10:16 PM
Awesome concept, not sure why no one's responded! Are the red tentacles mech or part of the head-spider?

03-17-2004, 10:51 PM
Interesting idea you got there. Good to see these works with humor as I'm planning to go on a bit darker path in my own work.
Don't have much to say about your model yet, keep it up. And I think that finger just brings more attitude to that character.

03-18-2004, 12:04 PM
Muyyatin, red ones will come from the neck of the head
controling the whole thing. Not sure if red will stay for the final.

Ambethron - Yeah the dark approach sure is tempting, seems
more apropriate for the Theme.

thx for the comments

I guess this is close to final format and composition.
PoliceFly will hold the ctick in the left "hand".

03-18-2004, 01:09 PM
Looking great. Nice detail so far.

03-18-2004, 01:42 PM
It's looking good. I like the toony feel

Ian Jones
03-18-2004, 01:50 PM
Nice! Make sure we can see more organic though. I'm kind of missing it so far, maybe to early to comment though.

Great concept!

PoliceFly modeling...eyes were pain...
My wife said that each sphere could be
an eyeball, hehe. But I guess it would be too much.

03-18-2004, 09:12 PM
I think its a great idea, i love how the spider head rolls on the metal web......also i think your wife has a good idea about all the flies eyes, if not for the final image i would still like to see how it would look like that......keep it up

03-18-2004, 09:44 PM
so funny ..:applause:
i love your work style you are professional hard worker
i like your work and wish you the best luck ...
take your time and show more friend..

show more soon

03-19-2004, 11:48 AM
infinite_1ne, splotch, THANKS.
The "eyeballs" idea - I'll do that version after the challenge, like solo pic of the fly.
Definitely would look crazy in animation, imagine those
eyes with dynamics, and moving around, checking things - spooky, hehe.

03-19-2004, 12:04 PM
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/5/1753/1753_1079697861_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/5/1753/1753_1079697861_large.jpg)

now I know I'll have to animate some objects in the final scene,
like wings, to get some motion blur. Sooo, in DOF already in mind,
that's gonna rocket the renderTimes insanely.
As a counter measure, fishing rods should be checked and prepared...

03-19-2004, 12:26 PM
man, you're not going for an anim, so do DOF and motion blur in post work...

03-19-2004, 01:08 PM
Nice design, EmpY!
Love the 'safety' tail-light
and the wings are looking nicely executed too:)

03-19-2004, 01:31 PM
Lol, I love the humourous tendencies in this one. the Concept is very cool. I think the Head in the robot reminds me of a cartoon on tv, cant remember which. Possibly add more detail to it, like defence mechanisms, etc.

03-19-2004, 07:33 PM

HEY Peolple, need your toughts on this!

Have to decide on one of these?
Face expression of the HeadSpider? It would be totaly
different in relation to A and B, something like this?:

(note - finger stays for sure)

A - Head/eyes looking at camera or extremely up, head pulled down a bit (like when you expect a hit)
face depicting inevitable, finger/hand/arm more relaxed.

B - Face depicts a maniac mad man, excited by the hole ordeal, big grin. Not sure where
he looks at - straight forward or halfway towards the Fly. Maybe a big Cuban in teeth.
Finger/hand decisevly up.

CopyPaste - enviroment.
testing some light.
getting PFly where it belongs (polygons are killing me, dmn).

03-20-2004, 12:18 AM
hey man that some graet stuff there!

Keep up the good work:thumbsup:

03-20-2004, 12:33 AM
This is looking awesome!

As for the fly- version B, for sure.

Nice start to the render also.

03-20-2004, 12:37 AM
Great stuff. I can see that only 2 days in I'm already falling behind!

Aaron Kent
03-20-2004, 03:13 AM
I agree the eyeballs are great. Do you use inner and outer polys on the transparent parts like you would for glass (sorry, I'm asumming you are using Lightwave) curious though cause the eyeball transparency has nice specularity.

03-20-2004, 11:14 AM
what can i say......WOW!

U Rock!!!

03-20-2004, 11:18 AM
I'm definitely keen on the B version of the fly, by far the best !

keep it up!

SpiderHeads. I'll go with lover right one.

03-20-2004, 01:59 PM
m@.: I'm not much of a PostWork man but I'll try my best (and mess it all up, hehe,).

Atwooki: real fly ref pics helped a lot.

daemienwarth: yeah, it's not at all original, toooo simple. I have to rethink spider.
maybe complete bubble could be organic, transparent with veins,. . .:hmm:

Aaron: hehe, Max is overehere. It's a simple glass - not meant for final image.

03-20-2004, 03:24 PM
wow, i can see your getting right into this, good work ;) (Do you sleep?)

the face on the top left seems to speak the most to me

cheers

03-20-2004, 04:27 PM

Very good.
Fly is so funny and so aggressive too (about it : I prefer the B version)

do you know where will you place the différents objets on the picture?

started to work on the head...

trying to set up lower half of the face...

03-21-2004, 06:32 PM
Hahah that sigar does it...lol:bounce:

03-21-2004, 06:39 PM
Hahaha, guess I just DQ myself bro - I mean, finger, cigar . . .

03-21-2004, 07:15 PM

Completely daze about your modeling.
Proportions of the face are realy good.
We can feel the weight of the cigar in the mouth.

Very good

03-22-2004, 03:38 PM
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/5/1753/1753_1079969881_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/5/1753/1753_1079969881_large.jpg)

I need to texture the head (PS) so it's easier to set the expression,
and modify it more. I'm happy with the neck connection although more
details will be added.

So I'm texturing just the head. The rest will be textured after lightning
the whole scene. More explanation to come...

03-22-2004, 04:20 PM
Wow... that's awesome stuff you've got there! I love your fly! and I don't know which one would be better... the fact that it's carrying a fly-swatter... or a massive amount of missles launchers! Your spider guy is pretty cool as well! You've got some great models!

rock on!

03-22-2004, 05:34 PM

nice concept !! hahaha got some twist also.
I think it would be better if you give some details and chaos to the section where the neck connects with the tubes, like some veins, bolts, jacks, plugs or stuffs like that, instead of just using"clean" stitches . Salute !

03-23-2004, 10:50 PM
imscifi (rock on): YEAH, the JEM's right here. In fact I play it all the time,
it keeps me from going nuts while waiting for test renders.
Though it drives the neighbors crazy, hehehe. :buttrock:

Said that, (I did not check out all the theards but many) how come
no1 has the concept with musician machineFlesh ???

BTW, like your idea, I'll comment overthere...

raiyan: point taken, reworking the neck.

i'll post the changes in a sec...

cheers maniacs

UVed the head and put some basic texture
so I do not have to worry about that.
Still working the neck...

03-23-2004, 11:32 PM
awesome man ... i really like the model .. dunno what to say ,,, amazing i love pretty much

keep going an i 'll be here watching

03-24-2004, 12:48 PM
That started to look really interesting and spooky! Clean modeling you have there...

03-24-2004, 12:50 PM
Nice modeling and texturing work. Its like a flesh bag over something very cool.

03-24-2004, 12:51 PM

"Come And Get Me" the story:

March 2050.
We are inside the GameEngine.
The HeadSpider (not in the pic) is actually a gameTester in an earlyAlpha adventure (poor guy, hehe).
There is a simple door in the upper left corner, where you can enter the GameEngine
and observe some action while on coffee break.

I have began setting up the lightning.
Not sure about anything right now, so Critics are NEEDED!!
The texturing will come after the scene is lighted up.
And modeling is far from finished.

Yo, ELEMENT5: HEADache hehehe. Thanks man.

splotch|VIAG|Cgkoko|daemienwrath|nicky - THX!!!

03-24-2004, 08:05 PM
Looking good although I think the hole think is kind burned out, and the model doesn't so it's detail(IMO)!

Keep it up mate!

Shadow Seraph
03-24-2004, 08:09 PM
i liked the red in the tiles you had in a much earlier pic, personally i would focus on more red/orange lighting like that from the botton and maybe have a less vibrant blue/yellow haze in the world around... would really like to see some base work of the light from the bottom as primary, maybe you can expand on that earlier pic and see what you get?

03-24-2004, 08:43 PM
the man with the sun gluss (pilot ?) look like
"agant smith" from the matrix movie ....
(or it's just me .... ???)
any way ,well done job .... keep it up !

03-26-2004, 08:28 PM

Modeling alternate Head.
Basic shape created in Max then messed up in ZBrush (1.55).
It's fun and it takes no time. Then taken back to Max, applied MultiRES (red dot)
to kill huge poly count, and than tweeked slightly (mostly around eyes), and smoothed.

03-26-2004, 10:33 PM
you are really having fun in your work...
nice going
keep it up

good luck friend

- Huh, it's morning...

- Update. Sorry for the fuzzy image. All params are down.

- Not sure about blob's IOR, more tests
for blob shader later.

- More things to do around blob. He will hold something like
parachute controls, two engines for each hand, etc...

- Bed...

wow, youre modeling so fast, and i think you have skillz, are these your final textures, or just some test?, looks cool also, nice work , keep on the great work:buttrock:

rattlesnake, ZHAMP, thank you friends! These are just WIP shaders.

By the way, HEAVY CG NAMES are entering this challenge on a daily basis!!
Can WE beat THEM??? who knows, who knows, hehe?

03-29-2004, 08:11 AM
hey empy.... yeah i like your previous idea better man.... it just fitted well with what you already had... i especially like the web
it looks crazily cool ..... anyways man you should go with whatever makes you feel good... its your expression man ... cheers and keep up the good work

03-29-2004, 08:16 AM
ParadiseFlyBird: thank you man, there's plenty of
time left, so who knows. I did not put the first
concept completely off.

03-29-2004, 08:23 AM
Helllo Empy,

Was not the case the same with alienware, lots of big names and the like entering towards the tail end, myself included (heh), but after looking at the winner of Alienware, I really like the winning entry and thought the judging was right on mark (fair and just), the thing is all about the process and there is so much time left, I do not think you have to worry.

Just keep on working! We've a long way to go!

I like your updates, this has come quite a ways!

03-29-2004, 09:02 AM
nice goin empy .. i see some z-spheres in there so i imagine in a few days you'll be wowing us with even more cool stuff

loved the first .. anxious to see where #2 goes

Ok, here is my 3rd concept!!! (I hope final one, heh)

CORAL REEF has just started forming on an alien space wreck.
Together, Coral and a million tons of titanium junk will
create a world of flesh and machinery living symbioticaly
in a peacefull, quiet corner of Universe.

There is more story but later...

Note: I think there is a face in the image - two eyes
and the mouth (holes) - maybe I'll use that in some way.
Anyway lots of space to fill, huh. We'll see how
this one goes.

And if you think Discovery, yes, I watched some last night,
and voila, hehe, dmn TV.

that's it

now, get to work people :)

cheers :)

Going through modeling block by block...
Have quite a few ideas about shapes I'll put in...,
and how I'll solve the intaraction machinery/flesh...

Pic is a test to see what I'm getting at 1/1 render,
to help me about level of detail.

splotch: Yeah fun is all we need,
check out the blackboard in pigwater's thread, hehe :)

rattlesnake,ZHAMP: happy you like it!!

ParadiseFlyBird: I'm on the old/new track, exploring

Continuumx: I'm cool, friend. That comment was just humor.
I love BigShots here - they rise the benchmarks.
Thank you for your kind comments!

pigwater: Absolutely LOVE your thread!!!!!!!!

peace :)

03-31-2004, 04:39 PM
I like this empy!

Let the concept take you over, not the other way around, and just let it create itself!

I really like this!

03-31-2004, 04:40 PM
EmpY

that's impress me. Wonderul concept, amazing work... I subsbscribe it... congratulations.

objects would play...

Quick early test for CoralReef shaders.
(no textures, no PS, for now)

cheers :)

04-01-2004, 07:56 PM
Hello Empy...........Just wanted to drop by and give another voice.I think your creation is turning out quite wild ( A good thing ;) )...And very surrealistic................And with coral reef's everything is always better........

Your 3rd concept is a very dramatic angle, nice viewpoint.Lot's going on in your work,I'll keep a look out for what you have in store...................By the way is BGD Belgrade?

Ok see you, keep :wip: ,it's all coming along well.

04-02-2004, 01:25 AM
YOU ARE REALLY INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bounce: :buttrock: :bounce: :buttrock:

Empy, you da man. How could I have missed this? Probably top 3 place. Extremely nice concept and beautifull realization, is that SSS effect on that orange thingies. Simply beautifull, real eye candy, just keep going, that's only coment i can give to you.
And Question : Jesi li iz Beograda kao sto te je vec pitao nas poluzemljak Virtouso? To bi bilo bas lepo, nisam odavno video ovakav kvalitet rada od nekog naseg zemljaka.
Pozdrav
P.S. Poslacu ti PM kasnije.

This looks fantastic, how do you model the orange goopy things? Is it all by hand or do you have a quick easier way?

I can't wait to see where you go with this. Edge of my seat. Good luck.

04-04-2004, 04:01 PM
joerhoney, gmask: thank you guys but no, it would not.
(15+ amazing reasons for that!!!)

genesis max: "studente, de si bre" that should answer your last Q ;).
Cheers man!

mind frell: In Max you can turn any mesh into blobmesh (metaballs),
and have nice control over it, and it is fun, you can go more random or
more control. I'll post easy tut on this later ;). Thanks man.

04-04-2004, 04:58 PM
Good luck for the challenge !!!

ps. Razvali ih!!!

04-04-2004, 05:15 PM
Amazingly strange! I really like where this stuff is going.

04-04-2004, 05:16 PM
this is really coming along great! I love that last image... kinda reminds me of a combination of two alienware images that were entered.

04-04-2004, 06:49 PM
andreja: :), are you entering the challenge?

JamesMK: I want you to save them miners...

imscifi: (kinda reminds me of a combination of two alienware images that were entered)

Kali babe do not worry, boxes are just ref objects. I want
to retain that weby shape for Coral to form on. Image is
very closed verticaly now, and I'll open it towards bottom.
Though enviroment is not water (sea, ocean) rather Space,
I want some water feel to it. So, boxes that's the one, the other
you ment I don't recall? I will check, or you could point me out.
Also enviroments are ignored by jury so more irelevant work
for me, heh, but more fun.
Anyways I do take all you have said as compliment, thx :).

Hmm, I hate when I sound smartAssBlackHole.

thank you all so much!!!

Feel like scuba-D? OK, lets go...

I love this concept, splotch!
Coral is a really beautiful organism to work with, and what your doing here is extraordinary! This is one of the most unusual concepts here, and great fun to follow :)

04-06-2004, 05:37 PM

Lemme see, it's twisted, bizzare, grotesque, darkly humerous, detailed, probably has a funky oder...... Yep I likes it a lot! Truely creative and original. :surprised

Virtuoso: Thanks man. I think you are toooo kind! We are all running
after one image, but there is plenty of time left, so why not make
a few pitstops here and there. Glad you like!!

Gregwid: Ok,Ok, I'll bring some eventually :).

DimitrisLiatsos: I think there will be a few more, so
hold your chrome horses....and please do not be shy
with details on them, hehehehe !!!

Frood: Hey man, no vegetables!!! Honestly the pic is just
a few cheap tricks and toooo many polys put together in no
particular order. I really mean it! You'll get there and beyond in no time,
trust me. Forget vegies ;)!!! I'll check on you and help you if I can.

mosconariz: Thanks friend, you are doing great and pretty
wild. I'll comment at your place ;)

rattlesnake: Hey Dentist ;), happy to see ya here!!
Flesh is coming, I think, not sure yet. There will be
a test pic soon. You go on with yours - you have
a lot more magic to show I know!!!

And indeed I'm working on one test pic right now, so

Started this today and wip title is "Surfers Paradise".
Fishy will be getting a body, tail,
some bone structures, etc...
I'll post some additional sketches later.

04-16-2004, 11:09 PM

04-16-2004, 11:13 PM
Thanks James!!!!, I'll focus on flesh (I hope).

04-17-2004, 12:29 AM

04-17-2004, 09:52 AM

04-17-2004, 08:01 PM
Sucha a lovely rendering.
I think thats the realy hard part with 3d. That and landscapes. So Im very impressed by your work. You realymake the best of what you have.

I've started that bloody task, creating
a Flesh shader. This is some of tonights progress.
Lots of frustration, a few hits and many misses,
still a way to go....Only good thing is cooling off
from modeling...

mosconariz, Virtuoso, DimitrisLiatsos, atmocube, Isabelle, Ric_535, dunkel,
Thank you my friends!!!Sorry for not replaying properly. I'll be there
in yor threads in no time. Thanks!!!

04-20-2004, 06:50 AM
Man!, Wow! This is insane! :buttrock:
Are you creating this shaders form script??? Did I missunderstand something? Which program are U using?

04-20-2004, 10:19 AM
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/5/1753/1753_1082456356_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/5/1753/1753_1082456356_large.jpg)

(klick for big)

Some progress, tho still looks very, very bad. No details, no sss yet.
I've never had to make real flesh. Very difficult indeed. My wife said:
"Hmm, very strange vase...". :(

Any sugestions?
Any tips??

mosconariz: (max/MR), no scripts, just playing with material channels,
lots of layers and couple of big textures - no tricks, pretty basic stuff.

bon apetit ;)

04-20-2004, 10:36 AM
:bounce: :bounce:
whowww Empy !
What a nice stuff done since my last visit !
Your textures are marvelous :)
MY GOD ! Howmany Cgs are you doing at the same time ! it's insane !!!
Your are the king of the NUTs of MachineFlesh Challenge dude!!!!

04-20-2004, 10:44 AM
Whoa! Mr Meat's in town! Looks really gross.... I think the reason you're not quite happy with it is mainly a scaling problem... right now it looks a bit like small pieces of bacon wrapped around a stickman or something - - - I think you can fix it up simply by trying to scale the texture down a lot, increasing small high-frequency detail and losing low-frequency correspondingly... The mesh itself is probably A-OK to use as is, I imagine.

Great to see more progress!

04-20-2004, 10:44 AM
harnelbe, hey man thanks. What do you think,
does it look like vase?

04-20-2004, 10:47 AM
James, geat input, thanks a lot, I'll get on it right away!

04-20-2004, 12:04 PM
i don't know if it look like vase but it remember me an effect on the skin of the woman in the Comic "Le quatrième pouvoir" GIMENEZ
bubbles melted with flesh

04-20-2004, 01:13 PM
My wife said: "Hmm, very strange vase...". :(

:scream: :scream: HAHAHAHAHAhahahaa

Don't worry man...u should hear my wife ...hahahahah
(hitting arms on the table) ...hahahaha

No it doesn't look like a vase ...it looks like growse naked flesh:bounce:

04-20-2004, 01:43 PM
These pieces are really weird and strange and very good modelled. Your speed in bringin' updates is unbeliebable:eek:

The shaders are lovely. I'm very excited about your final result-
in this thread nightmares come true (certainly in a positive way;) )

Keep on goin' great, man!!!

04-20-2004, 02:07 PM
uhh , was that a meatgrinder made of flesh ?

all them pics were more or less cool , dunno how
you do all that stuff... wow

how much for the vase ?

04-20-2004, 06:48 PM
harnelbe: Hey, nice!! I'll try to find it and see. Thanks!

DIMI: Hahahahaha!!! She also said that I look like machineFlesh,
(beard, bloody eyes, stinky smells in a few meter radius, mouse,
tablet glued with grease,...) and that the best thing would be
to take a picture of myself (preferably about 4,5 am) and post it.
That would beat anything. NUTS WOMAN!!!.......noooooo, she's cute.

Saschi0815: Hey, too kind and exagaratted words I hear from you.
Now, what comes to me mind: when all this machimeflesh mess is over
I'll make a nice mat library with shaders from this challenge and
will post it here or somewhere. Bloody nice idea, I'll keep that in
me mind. Thanks for your comments, and love your great wip!!

Squibbit: Sooo, Squibbit, Squibbit, you realy studied those pics, didn't you?
Hell, you got it!!! I tried to hide it cause I want to make one
disruption pic on machine flesh theme, in a few days, off the challenge.
You have a sharp eye my friend :)!!! Vase for a whale, whale for a vase:p ...

04-20-2004, 06:55 PM
That looks cool. The whole work here is real cool. That flesh looks alot like petrified wood, but more moist, wet.Kinda sick looking but still nice work, good effect.

Looked like a meat grinder to me as well.. the bubble flesh is super gross .. nice job

04-20-2004, 07:37 PM
HI Empy.......That's a wild and wicked as well as intense piece of flesh..........I think the coloring and intensity will go with the rest of your entry pieces......There is a surreal and atmospheric feel,a strong mood in your work. This flesh will go well with the rest of the intense work you have. They will go very well hand in hand.........The first texture test looked a little like wax mixed with plastic somehow.looked real good, but after looking at the second texture test I would say go for this version.........It does have a petrified wood appearnace in a way,but that is a very good thing, because it still maintains a wet fleshy look.Nice texture test indeed.................:buttrock:

04-20-2004, 08:52 PM
Franky: Hey thanks for very helping analysys!!

gmask: thanks, always good to have you here!!! I will
use bubbles in some way for sure. You know, when
some cheap trick stucks on you and you do next
5 jobs with the same trick until you are bored with it?
Thats with bubbles. And sorry, Squibbit was fist ;) hehe

Virtuoso: Really helpful introspection!!! I'm still working
on flesh shaders. There will be more to discuss, and I'm
looking forward to your thoughts.
You poping in and lifting the spirits up always apprecieated!!!

 to all

04-21-2004, 05:24 PM
Great textures! :surprised

Layers and layers... Wow! procedural or UV? Personally I think they are procedural... Or maybe mixed.... Hawever they're awesome... :applause:

I'll take this quality as goal for my muscle textures in my little pet.

I can't understand your speed... You are making such incredible things in so little time... Lots of great images in a few weeks... :buttrock: I just hope to reach that quality in only one image by the end of the challenge...

(click for big)

Egg shader... I wanted to have exacltly that - a sence
of volume inside the eggs. The MIST in volume slot does that,
and it is set with layering so the bottom is denser (like the blood
has settled down) and as you go up it becomes more transparent. Also
as it is a true volume shader - everything that is more inside the
egg is less visible and vice versa, tentacles that are more close to
the walls of the egg - you can see them clearly. What adds greatly to
that effect is BLUR TRANPARENCY turned on in the SURFACE>Glass Lume Shader.
Another thing is mask controled BUMP wich adds slight iregularity on the
surface of the egg.

Hope this is helpful to all MR users regardless of software.

Note that parameters will depend on your scene scale!

Romeoinferno: Hope this helps :) ...

Dimi: your support is invaluable friend!!!

Cygnus_X: Thanks mate! Your Alien is Awesome!!!Keep it up!!!

My light setup is simple with one backlight area omni (mental ray)
and skylight/HDRI, with final gather. Also some ground, layered
(in scene) fog as a lighting element.
The image is a quick test to see what direction to take for
the compositing and effects. And a few more 3D and particle
elements will be added.....
I'll post clean, raw render later tonight...

Not quite, at least I cannot get a hold of Leigh..... I'm in the process of trying send the final Tiff to JamesMK who has kindly offered to try and get it uploaded for me, good if that doesn't work then it's been fun anyway :D

06-03-2004, 06:22 PM

06-03-2004, 06:32 PM
FlyingP - you can always get hold of me through email ;)

When are you leaving? I think we're starting uploads this weekend... we'll be making an announcement tomorrow.

06-03-2004, 06:34 PM
Thanks Leigh, I keep getting a message from my mail delivery system that it cannot deliver to your address for some reason.

I'll be gone VERY early on saturday

06-03-2004, 11:30 PM
Hmm that's disturbing that your emails are bouncing :surprised

Well, if we haven't got the upload system up and running by the time you leave, please email robert@ballisticmedia.net and beg him for help ;) Tell him I told you to contact him... he should be able to help you out.

06-03-2004, 11:34 PM
Oops sorry I didn't realise this wasn't actually your thread, Brian!

Sorry Daniel

Very cool image you have there... it's actually really bizarre too. I would recommend bringing in some other colour tones to offset the reddish/pink tones on the right. Perhaps a sickly green or even a yellow :)

06-03-2004, 11:50 PM
No prob Leigh. Hope that will be sorted out.:)
And you are right. Thanks for the input!

06-04-2004, 03:39 AM

This is raw, clean render. 1/1 size is 4652x2657 300dpi.
Cuz of very, very long render times I've decided
to render only one full scene together and then render out various
alphas so I can split plans and elements into layers.
Plus I will render Z and occlusion passes.
I still have to model a few things but will leave that for
the end. As for this final layout it is not by-the-book
but I liked the view and decided to go for it. I hope post
will be fun and wild...

I'm just entering now (allitle late). But i Have to say this work is awsome. The composition is a litle hard to folow but it makes you think and look. I love evrything. The shaders and texturing like on the eggs are great, thanks for sharing the recipe for the egg shader to bad i dont use MR. Has kinda a matrix feel with the organic blood (red) and the mechanical black but its very original in its own right. Modeling of the giant coral thing in the back is very detaild and i love how its very organic when at first glance it looks like a machine. I can almost see some type of fish in it. I love the coral theme. Its amazing how many concepts you tried and discarded before arriving at this hopefully final and very beaughtifull peice. What do you do with all the models you made for earlier concepts do you integrate them into future projects or sell the models. This post is getting long. But i just cant tell you how awsome this is. It is inspiring to young cg artists like myself and at the same time makes me jealous of your amazing skills. I hope the judges apreciate the organic mechanical fusion of this awsome piece and dont underestimate it because there is no obvious organic life form with an obvious modification. Good luck and awsome work.

06-05-2004, 06:33 AM
