Emily Su has entered the Machineflesh 3D Challenge.

It is an mech/human assassin who is crying because she loved the guy (yes....that blob is supposed a guy...) who she just killed. The second is like more like the assassin is curious about human nature and has seen many people kiss before, so she is going to try it. :p The guy in the second picture is dead too, there's supposed to be blood dripping down the side of his face from his mouth, and from his gouged out eyes (haven't really drawn that yet). Background will be dark with moonlight.
Ehh....I know there are proportion probs, etc. These were just quick 5 min doodles. I had this other idea that goes along with Ray Bradbury's "The City" which is like set in the future...humans arrive on the planet and the city has trapdoors where the men are literally are torn apart and made into violent and cool... :D

Modeling sometime soon...

first concept pic please check thread for details

Nice concepts. I especially like the layout of the second one, although the main character could be more blatantly mechanical.

03 March 2004, 09:11 AM
Cool, I like both concepts. Decided which one you're going to do as 3d? I can already tell you're going to kick my ass in 2d, but I'll give it a shot for learning  As noted on the instructions, you'll probably want to not make the meched part in place of hands, maybe like a half-mech hand with other machine stuff on the body.

2nd concept reminds me of edward scissorhands

anyway goodluck with the challenge!

I don't quite understand the we can't use plastic instead of body parts? I have replaced the blades on the metal wings with more feather like daggers and the blades on the hand will be coming out of the skin, instead of being tacked on as a glove. Her skin is going to be sort of plastic-y/metal, almost like it's fluid and dripping off of her. *sigh*, I think I'm going to make this 2d first and then 3d if I have time....then go back and think of another idea for my 2d one. I hope you guys don't mind if i post a colored concept pic sometime soon. It'll take a bit of time b/c I don't have a tablet - don't laugh!- I'm as good as anyone with a mouse as they are with a tablet. :buttrock:

03 March 2004, 12:30 AM
You can definitely use plastic instead of body parts, I should just shut up heh. Sounds like cool ideas you have there... and you want me to believe you drew that with a mouse? wow

03 March 2004, 12:41 AM
Hehe, I don't have a tablett either, good old mouse does it too, and since i use an optical, it works quiet good.
Mhmmmm, if these are wings, remember to give em a clear functionality. if it are blades, just meant to kill, they might be in a unfortunate angle yet, she'll hurt herself, but never mind, I know what WIP means.
Best luck and let the Assasines come to reality, I like your sense of dramatic scenery, even if its not good for your health to be that girls lover :D ;)

03 March 2004, 02:20 AM
hehe, thanks for crits. No, these are all drawn by hand lol, not on a tablet, I was too lazy...and I have a crappy old mouse that freezes on my screen every 2 seconds, very frustrating.

Um, on the pic w/wings I've updated it (altho I haven't uploaded it yet) with actual feathers falling from the maybe that would make it more "natural" and mechanic at the same time. Here is my second concept's HORRIBLE i know...did it during computer science class ahhhhh i hate java:p it's not hard it's just so boring...

Ok the person in "The City" by Ray Bradbury is a captain, but I think i'll make it a girl because they're easier to model ...maybe b/c i am one? ;) I drew it upside down and that made all the proportions even more screwy than usual. There will be more hands operating on her and changing her flesh to mech stuff, plus that plastic-y material (think really fluid bluish white glue with a glow) will be dripping from her feet where she is being dangled. All black black areas are supposed to be blood (I know it doesn't look like it...) and most of her skin will be gone. The muscles will show thru most of the body and there will be "mech" stuff going thru the blood vessels. I think I am going to make it less robotic somehow...gotta think of something...

here's an excerpt to give you an idea. It is about a city on a foreign planet that is waiting for Man to come back so it can get its revenge (Humans declared war and destroyed it like 20,000yrs ago before "time"), the Men are running back to their rocketship b/c they sense something is wrong with the "dead" city:
"A trap flung wide in the street. The captain, unseen to the others, running, vanished.
Hung by his feet, a razor drawn across his throat, another down his chest, his carcass instantly emptied of its entrails, exposed upon a tablet under the street, in a hidden cell, the captain died. Great crystal microscopes stared at the red twines of muscle;bodiless fingers probed the still pulsing heart. The flaps of his sliced skin were pinned to the table while hands shited parts of his body like a quick and curious player of chess, using the red pawns and the red pieces.
Above on the street the men ran. Smith ran, men shouted, Smith shouted, and below in this curious room blood flowed into capsules, was shaken, spun, shoved on smear slides under further microscopes, counts made, temperatures taken, heart cut in seventeen sections, liver and kidneys expertly halved. Brain was drilled and scooped from bone socket, muscles plucked for elasticity, while in the electric subterrene of the city the Mind at last totaled out its grandest total and all of the machinery ground to a monstrous and momentary halt....
Upon the red table, with the spread-eagled captain's body empty, new hands begain a fight of motion. Into the wet interior were placed organs of copper, brass, silver, aluminum, rubber and silk; spiders spun gold web which was stung into the skin, a heart was attached, and into the skull case was fitted a platinum brain which hummed and fluttered small sparkles of blue fire, and the wires led down through the body to the arms and legs. In a moment the body was sewn tight, the incisions waxed, healed at neck and throat and about the skull - perfect, fresh, new." much to do....I think I'll leave that one to 2d. Sorry for the long post!!!!

Sorry for double post!

2 min digi color concept, it's the same girl for all of these concepts, so the colors should be the same.

03 March 2004, 10:24 PM
started to model the head, took about half an hr cuz I'm horrible at using 3ds max. still need to fix the area around the lips, plus the lips need to be worked on too. i'm gonna work on the nose last after i close up the head b/c i hate noses  . please crit. I'm still working on the "final" concept pic for this, it will be out soon. using mice suck. on second thought, this whole system sucks. my keyboard doesn't even have any letters on it.:surprised

btw 1st angel i'm a HUGE fan of your work~

03 March 2004, 12:29 PM
GAH! how come we can't delete posts here? (our own of course) I hate posting too much on my own threads, and I want to delete some of them that I wrote. I completely redid the head today for both my witch thread and the challenge. *sigh* I figure I can use the girl multiple times seeing how long it takes me to model a head (this one took about half an hr)

03 March 2004, 02:19 AM
the pictures are a little skewed for some reason, for instance the chin should be slightly longer, it looks flattened dunno if i saved it wrong or something. don't worry about the top of the head shape, that is just to close off front portion of head, i'll smooth that out later

please crit on anything. and please give input as to which picture i should do, any ideas for new things, etc...maybe i will post the color concepts next week...i'm so busy this week with hw. I thought being 17 was supposed to be the time of your life...??

Um, this is what the model will look like? I did a portrait this afternoon really quick, I probably want the hair to be shorter tho. It's based a little off what I look like myself, but...self-portraits never look like me!

The hair will be replaced partially by wires and there will be more "mechanical" things added after I finish the head.
