Fell behind, fell asleep...
The world isn't a very nice place anyore. War is a way of life, and the primary cause of death. Humanity has always been good at finding ways of killing each other, and finding more and more intricate ways of doing just that.
But war is killing people fast. So humanity invents a new machine; a killing spider. But the opponents quickly manage to kill these robos, as they're just stupid machines.
Then comes the next step in its evolution. It hides on the battlefield, and waits for an unsuspecting victim to walk past, and surprises it. It grabs the person, and removes extraneous parts of the body, while inserting equipment to keep the ... person... alive. It taps into its brain, and mixes machine and human intelligences to make an even better killing machine.
Just a concept. No weapons on the spider yet, it still looks just like a spider. Any thoughts?

so first the war costs too many human lives , then it is too
costly resource-wise .
I think you should make only one machineflesh spider .
It would never see the battlefield .
To put it there would be too expensive .
There would be an amush in the war where an enemy
soldier was captured . The captive would be integrated
with the machine spider .
Now this machine spider with human brain would control
the robot spiders . ... hmm .. writing while thinking now..
the thing would have two human brains ... overseer and
tactician ... then there would be an actual spider linked to
it all too .. the spider would know the limits and abilities
of the spider body and the human tactician would put it
to use in combat and other missions . the overseer would
be a communicator and director of operations . Because
of cast issues , this unit would have to take care of so
many spiderbots that it would be all too much to handle
at once. The overseer would therefore allocate the tactician
brain's capabilities to the spiderbots.
ps. the overseer might have torso, arms and head remaining ,
while the tactician would just have the head (maybe
heart and lungs too)
