View Full Version : Fairy

This is a render of a fairy model that I'm modeling.
She is nearly complete and I'm working on her hair right now.

Anyway, any critique/tips you can give me is helpful!

ok, few tips...

1.the head is a bit off. Try to make the head "similar to an egg". A head has an "egg shape. The jaw is too short. otherwise the face is good actually.
2. the neck is a bit too long and thick, try to make the neck thinner and shorter, shell look more feminine.
3. legs are ok, actually. But youre doing a fairy, so maby you could model the calfs a bit "harder", thinner and more muscle tone in them.

othereise you've managed to make it pretty good... Keep up the work !

another tip:
look at comics. from there you can pick up some nice fairy reference. long thin legs, thin waste, arms...

Stunning work, very well modelled, i agree about the neck being too thick and too long apart from that little thing the model is perfect, awesome stuff :)

Thanx for the critique boys!

Heres a quick remake of the neck area. And I know, those lower wings need to be a bit thinner. ;)

wow nice work on modelling! as for myself, fairies should look even less human like.. bigger heads, longer legs... and naked!question of taste ;)

Thanx for the feedback pascal and others!

Pascal: Yeah, I want to make her a bit more un-real in terms of not looking _too_ human. Reference is a pain though, I looked at quite a few cartoon fairys (which are all short and cute) and painted fairys but I don't want a cartoony model. This is some of the reference pictures I used:

If you look at the arms and legs on those sculptures, they are LONG. So I guess I will make them a bit longer on my model too.

Btw. I found a nude version (the first render actually, she was more stocky those days... heh.) for you. Enjoy! :D

hehehe ok now if you refer to this really nice scuplt, here are the points you should work on...
make the head a bit bigger, noze longuer (along the face, not like pinnochio) eyes alittle bigger and japanese-like (more than one eye space between the two eyes) longuer neck, longuer arms and legs, hands finner and longuer, hips smaller ,boobs too (sad but true;) ) and.. well, come back with these modifications :D good luck! now watching your first post with cloths, I would say you go to the good direction, but she still needs work on neck, legs and face ;)

and the nude version is cool:)

keep it

just a wonderful fairy. everything seems to be alright, only her knees are too strong. and with too many foldings (is it the right word?)

Hello again !

Looks good. Now I see how you picture her to be.
Hey, try to put some hair on her, and shell be as you picture her.

(nude models are always welcome.. erm as reference... my girlfriends is watchning me while i'm doing this post :) )

Keep up the work !
