03 March 2004, 07:56 PM
i like it,but i think your lastest skin its better, and the hair on the left eye its too fat,but good work anyway:thumbsup:
03 March 2004, 08:02 PM
Thanx guys
About the hair, I think the look and the placement near/in front of the eye give her more style, more mystery. But maybe I'm wrong.
03 March 2004, 08:07 PM
ha ve a perfect position but i think have too much thincknes in the end, i dont know how explain better
03 March 2004, 08:32 PM

03 March 2004, 08:39 PM

03 March 2004, 09:46 PM
03 March 2004, 09:53 PM
really cute. what's the purpose of it, exception made of this pretty good portrait?
03 March 2004, 10:45 PM
This should be on the front page.5 Stars.
03 March 2004, 10:55 PM
Very nice!
03 March 2004, 10:59 PM
Very good mood you have created. i like it alot, can i have it 23x24 inch to print please. Crisp detail. For the lipstick, on the bottom lips, go farther to the lips end. (if i can say that and that's just me).
03 March 2004, 11:11 PM
ooo .. I looove her :-) I like the lip texturing, and above the left eye, and the colouring in general.
03 March 2004, 11:46 PM
Wonderful work! She is really pretty.
03 March 2004, 02:30 AM
I can't spot any flaws in your image. I concur with the other commentors regarding photorealism. The lighting of your portrait is that of a professional photographer--immenensely well done!
With other comments around the lipstick, the style reminds me of Ms. Natalie Portman's characher Queen Amidala from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
03 March 2004, 03:00 AM
Very nice Reiv, here are a few critz (just nitpicking, great image overall):
1) the eyebrows seem painted, they're too flat
2) the position of the left eye (her right) on the y axis seems strange
3) the transition of the lips with the rest is too sharp
4) the jaw seems a bit fragile, dunno why
5) the flesh near the corner of the mouth seems strange, too stiff imo
the rest is great, good proportions, she's quite attractive for sure, can we see a wire?
03 March 2004, 07:34 AM
Thirdeye, about the wire, check the first post, just below the picture, there is two links... :)
03 March 2004, 07:56 AM
really awesome work! :applause:
only thing i don´ßt like it the red hair, it looks like she´s hurt. some bloddy scratch or something.:wise:
03 March 2004, 08:05 AM

03 March 2004, 05:10 PM
About the purpose of it : make a pretty good portrait :).
I'm actually working on the rest of the body. I think I'll make her a sort of assassin or something like that.
03 March 2004, 05:17 PM

03 March 2004, 07:23 AM

Here she is, hope you like her!
Damn, like her ???
I love her !!!! Really, really great work. She's a beauty :buttrock:
03 March 2004, 09:07 AM
Superbe, de mieux en mieux tes images. juste une petite critique, c'est l'absence d'ombre dans les narines.
"Oula, c'est le matin, je suis encore dans le gaz, autant pour moi, y'a bien de l'ombre dans les narines ;)"
03 March 2004, 09:33 AM
She is beautifull!! amazing stuff!!
Many times I see female 3D models, and most of them look ok, but there's always something missing, but you got it totaly!! I can't realy describe what it is, but it's there!!
03 March 2004, 09:35 AM
you simply make the best female characters ever.
your work is so amazing and for me it's a great inspiration.
I love your style!
03 March 2004, 09:36 AM
Really a great work. The eyes are especially very well done, with the little touch that give life to a character.
Blissful! Bien joué!
03 March 2004, 09:47 AM
It's nice! she is very cool! I like it :bounce:
03 March 2004, 09:58 AM
I love the colors use
03 March 2004, 10:25 AM
now THAT is a nice render, love the lighting-shading feel, amazing modeling and texturing... AND a nice name... No crits... Just perfect.
03 March 2004, 10:31 AM
thats great, looks like painting. Quick and powerfull.
The light color and textur (most of all the eye and mouth parts) are so impresiv...
just great
03 March 2004, 10:43 AM
Hi reiv, really amazing work. The great thing about your girl apart from a reallly good model and texture is that she has life. How she looks, it doesn´t seem like the most of cg characters. I like the compo too and color, it´s really amazing.
Just one thing i personally don´t like, the highlights on the nose and bellow the right eye (her left eye) They seem overburnt and have no transition from the bright part to the other, i cant explain it better in english. Im not talking about realism but taste and composition. It gives her the cg touch you had avoided with her look and attitude.
Just a personal opinion
03 March 2004, 11:16 AM
Wonderful work man ,loks amazing

that's simply great work !!!
wich renderer did you use to produce this nice image
03 March 2004, 11:35 AM
You will give me her phone number...Or...or...i WILL start crying y'know.
hehe,she's hot,nice colours,nice mood.
03 March 2004, 11:39 AM

03 March 2004, 12:55 PM
sweet... very sweet....
:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:
03 March 2004, 02:13 PM
I can only say that I'm in love with her.
Deep and intriguing.
03 March 2004, 03:19 PM
very nice job. when I looked at the front render I tought she looked a lot like Nelly Furtado. Can I ask you who inspired you? If you took a real life person as inspiration can you show a picture of her?
good job. very nice all in all.
03 March 2004, 03:34 PM
Good job !!!
03 March 2004, 05:30 PM
Great work! :)
03 March 2004, 05:35 PM
She's almost more captivating in the front view pic, very nice, great lips and eyes... Hey Riev, if shes gonna be some sort of assasin like you say, maybe she could battle it out against e338's tentacle warrior?! ;)
03 March 2004, 06:02 PM
How much of this was touched up after the render? It's beautiful. Looks like an oil painting without the brush strokes.
03 March 2004, 06:06 PM
This character has emotion. It's hard to make a model look as if she's alive. But you did an excellent job. The combination of realism and (sci-fi?) really intriques me.
It's funny to see a lot of people say they're in love with her. She doesn' t only look realistic and alive, she is also very beautiful. She is mysterious and that makes her very sexy. Are you a professioneel photographer? Do you work with models? You really know how to make a 3d character look beautifull.
03 March 2004, 06:30 PM
great work! i like all your stuff, do you mind posting a pic of your uv layout and color map of the head? (doesn't have to be full size, just to get an image of how you work...)
03 March 2004, 07:41 PM
would like to know if it's 3d or 2d.....
suppose it to be 2d because of the hair-specs
but when i look at the face i rather would think it's 3d
because of the plastical look of the face especially the lips
great work :applause:
03 March 2004, 07:47 PM
Wooaahh. this is REALLLY slick. Only thing that keeps it from fooling me to think its a photo is the hair not having any flaws... ahaha, being that 'real' hair does whatever the hell it wants to.
Bravo, great stuff.
03 March 2004, 10:50 PM
I love this character. The individual red hairs that hangs down are kind of thick though compared to the black hair at least (it seems finer).
03 March 2004, 11:52 PM
Damn dude, that is.... Ok, this is exactly the kind of picture I love.
Kinda cyberpunk, its just sweet.
I hope this gets put in the select gallery, it deserves a spot there!:buttrock:
03 March 2004, 12:28 AM
03 March 2004, 01:38 AM
Yep, beautiful and emotive with a twist of irony.
Thanks for the Wireframe. I think it's a great demonstration of a realistic human character done with out the need for a hair plug-in. As a LW user, it makes me want to say, "Yeah, so?" to the fact that FPrime currently doesn't support Sasquatch, though i'll be happy when that support and Hypervoxels, Volumetrics, G2 and "omni" shader support comes out. :)
03 March 2004, 01:40 AM
good ,lot of photoshop i think
03 March 2004, 04:53 AM
I hope you're going to detail what software you used, the hardware, or something. If you don't want to....well...fine...but still, it would be a good high jump to know where this image is coming from, what style you used, what type of "school" you're in, if you think you're in anything of the sort.
I like the texture you put on the skin, the glow of the skin and the way the skin matches the color of the hair, or sets off becayse of the black hair.
Looks like you used the feathers in the Photoshop CS image to cover that area on her left eye/temple area. Did ya?
The lips are great, even thoug they look plastic pale and somewhat bloodless in contrast to the lipstick...which is incredibly beautiful.
03 March 2004, 05:47 AM
this is excellent artwork!
she's so well done! congratulations
I think the photographic content of this piece makes it look real, it doesn't look like cg at all, it just looks beautiful
wonderful job, great wireframe, hope to see an animation of her eventually
03 March 2004, 12:14 PM
03 March 2004, 02:30 PM
good . great work !
03 March 2004, 07:00 PM
Thanks for ur comments, I'm sorry I'm quite busy now so I really dont have time to post a complete answer to your questions, but I'll reply soon.
03 March 2004, 10:40 PM
wow very nice indeed...and yes i like here:bowdown:
03 March 2004, 09:05 AM
Ok here it is ;)
For those who've missed the first link for the wire, here it is:
And the diffuse map (http://reiv.9online.fr/imgup/Dif01s.jpg)
I completed this picture with 3dsmax5.1 with my home computer (p4 3.06GHz 1GoRAM). As you can see on the wire this is full poly modelling except some piece of hairs that are nurbs surfaces. I did not use any global illuminating system or domeLight, just some well placed point lights casting shadow maps. So the render is the default scanline render.
Concerning the skin shader, you can see a sort of "making of" in this great thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63930&perpage=15&pagenumber=1) .
Textures are mous painted in PaintShopPro. I only add two filters on the final render: color balance and gaussian blur, I didnt use Photoshop tricks or paint some additionnal stuffs.
Now about me :) I'm not a photograph or cg student. I'm a 22 years old programming student which is not really exciting, interesting, and artistic  . For me 3D is a hobby, but I love It.
Maybe thats why my pics looks maybe different than others: when I'm creating a pic, I'don't have to schedule each stage of the creating process, I don't have any dead line. I just work on my picture until it's done.
Particularly for this picture, my goal was to make a woman face, mix of european and asian head, with a make-up inspired from japanese ones(particularly the lips). First thing I'm making a realistic mesh of the face, I mean with correct proportions. Then I modify the mesh pulling and pushing vertex until I get something. Can't really discribe it, when I'm looking at my mesh theres something, I feel it's got sort of potential. Maybe thats my way to find a sort beauty. I've seen dozens of portraits (photos) found on the net. On each one I'm asking me : "what makes her so beautyfull?". Thats really hard to find, and thats why it takes me such a long time to produce a pic.
About the lightning, I always try to make a setup that will focus your vision on what I want, to emphasize the main character. To achieve that, I also use complementary colors between the background colors and the character/lights colors.
One last thing: when I create such a picture my main goal is to give it some life and beauty. Not to make a perfectly realistic character. Realism is not an aim, just a way to add to the character more credibility, more depth. Thats why in one hand I try to have good shaders, good proportions... and in the other hand I make styled stuffs not really realistic. And I think that makes the character closer to us.
03 March 2004, 09:39 AM
simply great! :buttrock:
03 March 2004, 12:07 PM
03 March 2004, 05:21 PM
wow.i love her.great color texture.but i think there can be more works on the bump textures, specialy besides the lips.and the eyes distance (in my opinion) must be somehow closer.
the hair is very nice.i think she is a jedi or someone like that.
great work:bounce: :bounce: :applause:
03 March 2004, 01:54 AM
I don't think she looks like a jedi, and the distance between her eyes looks perfect to me.
But I do agree that the lips are very smooth. But if you consider the level of this artwork, it's quite obvious that reiv would have used bump on the lips if he really wanted to.
I really like what he just posted, and it's the impression that I had when I looked at this image, photorealism is no longer important in images like this, because it doesn't even occur to the observer that this was done with a computer.
I really like that, because it allows people that don't understand CG to appreciate the artwork without thinking of computers, they just see the aesthetics, and I think this is the strongest value of this particular piece, and quite a few others I've seen in the past years.
03 March 2004, 11:30 AM
wow ..... just .....wow
03 March 2004, 05:18 PM
i dont ment the classical starwars movie jedies,i mean the new and modern jedies ,like what is in the "jedi knights:jedi academy" pc game.and yeah, the image is very powerfull:bounce:
03 March 2004, 12:25 AM
what kinda paint program did u use to texture her...i love the skin texture...and the hair..did u do the hair with photoshop or other program????
03 March 2004, 05:58 AM
I love her!
03 March 2004, 07:40 AM
As you can see
here (http://reiv.9online.fr/imgup/JadeWire.png) the hairs are a made of polygons and nurbs surfaces with mouse
painted opacity maps.
03 March 2004, 02:51 PM
She looks very serious! I like that about her gaze, its well directed, yet not over powering. I do have some issues with her lower lip though, the edges look way too sharp, its almost like there is not enough blending between the edge of her lower lip and her skin. I really like her eyes too, they're gorgeous! Great work!
03 March 2004, 06:29 PM
i just like your art~~~
03 March 2004, 09:19 PM

OH MY GOD! WONDERFULL JOB!
SHE IS VERY BEAUTIFUL!
03 March 2005, 10:41 PM
i love her hair. i'm not real crazy about the shading around her eyes, but her lips are WOW!!
11 November 2005, 06:23 PM
:banghead: I wish i could do that
