View Full Version : assassin _ demoreel on 6" test Shot

03 March 2004, 07:30 PM

Hi fellas.

Here it is. I know it's short, but when i started the rig of this naughty assassin, i decided to spend 15 days max for the whole exercise (micro webSite almost included). So when the 6" shot was made, i decided to use 3 more days working on a longer reel that would show my actual skills in character design and other stuff.

I hope you'll enjoy this reel, c&c welcome even though i'm a naughty little doggy ( my methods for auto promotion are kinda "mr self destruct" sometimes but it seems to fit not so baddly in the actual time crisis mood of the job market).

Anyway, have fun, play out loud.

have a look at the 6" shot first (which longs 12" in fact, but logo included), and if you enjoy it, download the full reel (2min22).

the site is lauched as a popUp, so i hope your browser will be openMinded.

If the webSite doesn't work, then try those direct links:

6"Shot_HighRes (

demoReel_LowRes (

demoReel_HighRes (

And watch Bolino!!! here ( ...thanks

I can only view the image. Your site doesn't work for me. any suggestions? I just get a blank page in mozilla and IE. I really want to see this! You have such a great style.

fro-ho-ho-hoooont paaaaaage.

Omg. wow... speechless.

Gonna drool over it some more now.

I know replying twice makes no sense whatsoever, but this is undoubtedly one the finest pieces of animation I've seen around here ever. I just love your style soooo much.....

Man, you rawk.

if the link doesn't work on your browser, try this one:

this one (
but the page may look strange then...

This site is a popUp. If you only have a blankPage, it's because your browser doesn't accept popUp.

This is excellent, I like the way you show how the character was set up and how the whole scene is put together.

The movements of the assasin are a bit weird. I would like the tentacles to follow the motion and movement of the character a bit more. But great stuff. You rule etc.

Simply amazing. I love the movement of the assassin. The grass and the overall feel of the short is fantastic as well. My only critique would to offer a version without the begining and the end intro/outro. It might piss off the 56kers, but i personally think it adds to the piece (and i don't care because i'm on cable :scream: )
Also maybe make the tentacles flow like previously mentioned, allthough right now they have a crazy sort of feel which you might be going for. Great job!

Looks great, and I love how you showed all the control layers. Very well composited too - but what made you choose that offensive music?

03 March 2004, 04:38 AM
It should be 3 second test and not 6 as the intro/outro took up more time than the animation. I love the style, but as previously said the animation seems to be a bit jerky. The tenticles could use a bit more dynamics to them. The look overall is very nice, has a very comic book appeal to it. Great job and keep it up.

Wow...fantastic work, absolutely...

i'll just take 5min to answer before going to sleep (10-22h, something like that).

first. glad you people liked it. Really. mmm.

you will understand what i wanna make people feel with this animation, shot after shot. i swear.

Yeah, the animation of the tentacles is a bit strange, but this is what i want. They (the tentacles) are autonomous. They act like they want, so they follow the character, but it ain't no jelly or hair stuff, even though a little bit of soft body would have make it more believable, it was too much work compared to what it would have add (remember i'm all alone on this project, it's for fun, i won't spend months on it).

6" test shot mean 6" test shot man (mr Emortal1). So watch it again, and you'll see the intro and the ending logo are not included in this duration. I know it's short, at the beginning, it was a simple e338 typo, but it was kinda poor. I decided to create this short intro to put "the audience" slightly in the mood of the animation. Nothing else. More plans to come when i'll have time so the balance will change.

Thanks again. SeeYa

Man, this is totally amazing.

My jaw is still on the floor, I am blown away by this.

Well done!

ok. it seems that a lot of people can't see the website because of the popUp structure it's based on. I just come to change the "launch" page by giving a second possibility to reach the assassin page in a classical window.

the link is still the same so i invite you, people, to move your blasť asses and have a look at it.

anyway, here it is:

Still waiting for comments'n critics

awsome:thumbsup:

I cannot stress to you how much i like this charictor the style is just spellbounding to me
but on account of the animation it seems a bit jerky.
i would figure an assasin would move much smoother and more creepingly than in this animation
