View Full Version : MR geometry render problem

PLEASE HELP!!! Mental Ray Renderer is not rendering my model right. It seems to screw up the geometry, shading and textures. Where as the maya software rendering is fine can you tell me what is wrong (I might be doing something wrong)
both pictures are lit by the same light.

Maya's renderering can deal with garbage polys where MR is very picky. Sometimes you gets nurbs that can't ever render, or polys that can't be displaced. be very carefull with the objects history, and always do clean-ups to it.

Also, becareful how you model. Keep it clean, and always be testing the model in MR as you build it so you can find problems sooner.

Yes I've met the same problem and fixed up with a triangulate on the concave faces.

To get it: use a constraint selection on the selected object in facets mode. then check "all and next" + properties concave.

Then close that tool with "Close and Reset" . Just triangulate and it should works now!
