View Full Version : Misc - Box - I'm a box modeller??

02-21-2004, 09:04 AM
Hi All,

Was wanting to do something constructive to take my mind off a project I'm working rather than play CS I decided to do some box modelling! (double meaning intended :P).

14 tris open box, 12 tris closed. 1x512 texture map.

Wire frames available on request! ;)

Now that's out of my system, back to work!

Commy - just suggest you start building up an image library on your HDD and get stuck into the guts of Photoshop! At the moment I've got a good few gig of images I use while texturing, and its still growing. Like most people (i guess) I've come to intimately know all my images and know exactly how to use them in the best way depending on what Im working on. Just build build build that library! :P

Thanks for the comments all - didn't think I'd have my thing looked at let along commented on.

Keep the comments coming :) I'm open to suggestions on how to make my box better! :)

Btw, Commy, your in Newcastle too? Small world! Just noticed that after I replied.

Hey, that's not a real box. :D

Everybody knows that real boxes have THE ORANGE printed on the side. ;)

i made something very similar for a film i made at uni, didnt go to as much detail as you tho, but i did animate it, which was nice.

Are you going to post a tutorial or your box modeling technique?

I can't wait to see a brazil render of this.

I never would've thought a cardboad box couldve caused such a stir here!

I do plan on modelling a human with boxes sometime soon...I'm partly to blame for self inspiration here or something.

I might model it sometime this week if I manage to get a break from modelling other stuff. Anyone want to suggest some other brands of cardboard box? Would be such a shame to only use one kind of box for the whole character! :)

Eric: Sure, the box is all yours!

Tait: would love to take a look at that animaion - got a link?

Lopoly: I've had an animation in mind centering around a metal locker for some time...maybe it'll be out of a cardboard box now :)

I might be able to dig some of the rough storyboards up if any of you are interested. Warning though - they are all half finished :P

Thanks again!

Expect a box man and box woman to be heading this way before the end of the week!

This whole box thing is getting out of hand!
