View Full Version : Asian Girl, Hapzunglam (3D)

02-20-2004, 09:04 PM (

I'll say i finish after all kinds of comments and critiques. Thx for all who gave me feed back. Right up to this point, i'll stop working on her for awhile.

Actually at the beginning this is just a test model for my edge loops study.

Its done in XSI, texture in photoshop. By the way, tell me if the image doesn't load.

really cute!

everything looks nice
but eyes are looking not really naturally

good work anyway :)

02-20-2004, 09:11 PM
Very nice job!,
Yeah, maybe the textures in the eye...

Good modeling and textures!

02-20-2004, 09:16 PM
Ahhh, I'm falling in love!

That has to be one of the best asain faces Iv seen. The hair doesn't to the face justice. I would paint it in if i were u.

02-20-2004, 09:57 PM
Damn thats wack, almost looks like a good friend of mine.

Nice job on that!

02-21-2004, 12:55 AM
:applause: :buttrock: that is some wicked work there

Only one problem i think her left eye is a little bit to bloodshot. If it wasnt so bloodshot it would look so much better (if it could be any better ;) )

02-21-2004, 02:04 AM
I'm not too sure I like the bump on the eyes, it makes it look like there's no moisture on them. Other than that, it's a really nice model :)

02-21-2004, 03:15 AM
:) good.....the skin looks good...........but I think you can try another material or texture about her improve it.....
maybe can make her looks better............

02-21-2004, 04:28 AM
i think its unanimous(sp?): "great model, fix the eyes!" :)

i think you may have gone a bit overboard on the detail in the eyes. the blood vessels look too pronounced and too long, and the bump-mapping on the inside corner of her left (our right) eye is a bit extreme. for a picture this realistic (and beautiful!!), there's a point where you have to stop reaching for realism, and make a break for artistic license.

the only other thing i can possibly find thats not stunning, is the hair roots. they look like a doll's hair stapled into the plastic scalp. i have absolutely no idea what you could do to bypass that (maybe just blurring it in post??), though.... maybe its the hair strands not casting any shadows....

02-21-2004, 08:01 AM
i've temperaly blur the veins of the eyeball. and I've lower the bump value on my scene file.

For the hair... well, there has shadows. The concern from darkefire it is because i should thiner the hair alot more and add alot more strands to it. But I don't know how long will it take for render. It is because this image took me more than 30 hours to render.

02-21-2004, 09:50 AM
30 hours?!?! whoa.....thats a long ass time...anywho the model is beautiful. I think the eyes are fine (though probaly edited before i could tell) and the hiar is fine I think. Simply Beautiful

02-21-2004, 11:49 AM
A wire??

Un saludo.

02-21-2004, 01:05 PM
Congrats on front page. I remember this project from WIP. You made some subtle changes but it makes a big difference. Good job.

02-21-2004, 01:27 PM
Cool model and great textures man!
Also like her hair too!

02-21-2004, 01:36 PM
Extremely cool
Saving for reference ;)
More angles plz....

Crits --
Tear glands and lower eyelashes are missing.
May be they are there, but not noticable.
A denser eyebrow will do...
I'm not sure .... but ears should be visible, if you modelled it.

:applause:

02-21-2004, 02:09 PM
goody goody goody!

02-21-2004, 02:10 PM
Looks nice as a finished image, but the eyes do look unatural, and the hair lin looks odd, I think as the hear looks attached in thick bunches rather than a fine even spread of hair like a real person.

02-21-2004, 02:21 PM
I think she has alot of veins in her eyes but otherwise thats great dude.

You've got alot of talent man good job.

02-21-2004, 02:25 PM
Nice model and texture.....

02-21-2004, 03:08 PM
great, you have arrived that the girl look natural.

02-21-2004, 03:10 PM
nice :bounce:

02-21-2004, 03:16 PM
Great model! I think the eyes could maybe use a bit of an environment reflection though. It would make them look a bit wetter. As Corth said, they look pretty dry right now.

02-21-2004, 04:05 PM
you are getting better and better! its really cool to see your progress, great piece of work i really like her!

02-21-2004, 04:09 PM
 I'm new in CG Talk, but I have being watching the works for exposť 2 and I can tell you that this is a really good job.
But I see a little bit flat the eyelids. watch:

here is the wire

02-21-2004, 04:48 PM
:bounce: :applause: :bounce:
that's some of the awesomest texturing i've seen yet, i like the subtlety of the eyes and the porous skin around the nose but gets finer as it spreads to the cheeks, etc. damn that's awesome! hurraH!!

02-21-2004, 04:53 PM
:applause: Uff...I love it !!...the best human face I've ever seen done with XSI...congratulations !!!

02-21-2004, 05:07 PM
You can really see the progress you have made over the years. I cudo's to you. Very well done. Keep grinding on 3D and you'll be in the business for a long time to come.

02-21-2004, 05:12 PM

02-21-2004, 06:39 PM

02-21-2004, 06:48 PM
meh, it's ok, it's hard to make a face look good from so close up.

Her skin is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too perfect and she contains no and i mean absolutely no's like her skin is stretched

02-21-2004, 07:10 PM
simply amazing work. Often I see emptiness in rendered 3D faces but in your image I see history and life. One of the best 3D faces I have seen thus far. Good Job

02-21-2004, 07:36 PM
congrats friend

02-21-2004, 07:52 PM

02-21-2004, 09:03 PM
Great work! But... something wrong with her eyes, a little too more streak. I have sometimes similar streak, when I too much drink;)

Best regards for all 3d bros!;)

02-21-2004, 09:59 PM
great work! new to cgtalk and can't wait to see more of your work.

02-21-2004, 10:01 PM
great work!

one question: what do you use to do the eye brows? testure?

02-21-2004, 11:30 PM
Hello there!

you ve improve a great deal! keep it up dude!

Kel Solaar
02-22-2004, 12:06 AM
She is cute :)

02-22-2004, 12:26 AM
I made 2 versions of hair at the beginning. Poly patches and XSI hair generator. I used XSI hair at the end because it is far more real than using polys.

Yes eye brows are textured.

02-22-2004, 12:45 AM

I believe more "pink meat" is needed in the medial junction of the eyes.. The specs on the cornea seemed also strange to me, one has blue spec, the other has white, at quite different locations. I understand from that angle, the blue light might be obscured to the left eye of the woman, but if there is that white spec on the left eye below the other spec, I'd expect to see that also in the other along with the blue one, as it would probably only happen if there was another object that blocks light exclusively to the right eye . Am I way too off?? Maybe :)

Good work anyway!

02-22-2004, 01:06 AM
hmm, good textures and model^_^"

02-22-2004, 03:24 AM
Looks good dude.. cant give any crits.. just purrrrrrfect:thumbsup:

02-22-2004, 03:31 AM
Sweet lookin' girl.

everything sofar has been mentioned cept for one thing.
her nose, why are the edges that red,i mean, ofcourse they should be a tad darker, but it looks like she is just recovering from a cold in wich she only had rough tissues to help her out. its a tad to red around her nose is what i am saying, cept for that, extremely sweet.

02-22-2004, 08:05 AM
pls remove this post.

02-22-2004, 08:15 AM
The girl looks good.
If you don't mind , can you tell me whether you paint the texture or retouching the photo? I am not trying to offend you, but the shadow looks weird on the WIP.

02-22-2004, 12:32 PM
Wow, I wish I could model something like that.

Did you use spline or box modeling?

02-22-2004, 05:11 PM
Tycane: I used my nose as reference most of the time. My edge of the nose is red but not that red. I just want to emphasize that part. Maybe i've gone a little too far.

funfun: I do both painting and photo retouching for my textures.

Taxxodium: I start off from box usually.

02-22-2004, 05:58 PM
Well... it's lovelly! It's awesome!! Perfect! Good job!

02-22-2004, 08:01 PM
I really like your work! Would you be interested in talking to me about a position? I am looking for artists that can do realistic human characters using Lightwave.

02-23-2004, 05:10 AM
Totoaly awsome dude!!

I'm a XSI user too....could you share the hair setting with me?!
I was trying to use XSI hair too.

You can e-mail me

Nice work:buttrock:

02-23-2004, 12:38 PM

Great job, HapZungLam! :applause:

04-22-2004, 11:45 PM
Nice model HapZungLam, The only think y look about your model is, on the border of the eye, add a little geometrie for simulate a line of water, and maybe, add more details of your spec lips.

Is juste a suggestion!! But very nice job boy and tk your my reply!

05-21-2004, 04:11 PM
hey man! looking very sweet!! could i see a side and front wire?.. just im studying the topology of an asian face at the moment, so it'd be very interesting, and a great help!

08-03-2004, 08:48 AM

08-03-2004, 04:24 PM
thx very much "effects"

That is a very nice reference.

Yap, I am working on the updated version which has detail around the eye.

08-03-2004, 04:53 PM
Clean rendering and good texture.
Keep it up

Best Regards

08-04-2004, 11:03 AM
Nice work!!

08-09-2004, 12:11 AM
how picky can we be?

I am so impressed with the whole thing. I love the detail of the pores in her nose. You can tell she lives in a city and her skin is exposed to pollution. Mouth and lips too.

the eyelashes I think should go down the way most asians do. These look like she is using a lash curler, but she doesn do anything to her eyebrows.

Hair on Her right side of her face is following her face, but her head is tipped in that direction.

Also the highlight in her hair looks strange, wrong color?

I wonder if you dimmed the upper spot a bit, if it would help.

Stunning work

When you get her built could you send her to my house?

08-17-2004, 06:57 PM
i relly like your skin shading ;)

08-18-2004, 05:59 AM

that good !

08-18-2004, 06:52 AM
