View Full Version : Restrictive game work: low poly, low res environment

heres sort of a test i did (its sort of because it was once a test for EA i believe but anyways im doing it for fun) the idea is to create an abandoned room for a game using no more than 18 128*128 24bit textures, the idea being to show what u can work in a restricted environment anyways heres what ive come up with its 688 tri's and there are 17 textures enjoy :) oh btw theres meant to just be 2 walls and a floor! all xsi and photoshop everythings hand painted except the base of the rubble texture and the window crack and the photos (obviously) and the book cover too :) which before anyone asks is the cover for stephen hawkings "the theory of everything" just a bit of fun :)

Looks great! I think you did well within those restictions. By the way, did you read Hawkings book? I've wanted to read that for awhile now, Hawking kicks ass!

No ive not actualy read it i just wanted to add some interesting details to the room to give it a bit of character such as the cute girls photo, makes u wonder a bit more :) thanx for the comments btw its hard to try and make something really good with such restrictions its more about making the best u can :)

It's good to start with the doors!
have U ever seen doors smashed that way?
and that paint!
and it's too clean! put some dirt on the floor, debris...

like i said its limited u cant setout to create soem ultra real environment with these limits, if u can provide some detailed crit id be happy to take it into consideration. i dont want to raise my poly count by much if any

Put pieces of doors with alpha channel! They're to "cutout" for me! If there was laser weapon involved (by mad robot) that's fine, otherwise it's simply cutout! Also check tiles on middlepart of walls!

no alphas only materials allowed are 18 max 24bit tga files no bump no spec just diffuse this is a very restricted project ill see what ic an do tweaking the textures
