Does anyone use a specific material setting for creating a realistic human skin effect that textures can then be applied too, or know of any good tutorials for this? I'm just having trouble getting it looking convincing, any advice on the subject would be most welcome!

check out mark davie's sub-surface scattering tool.;start=0

there's a lot of other important things to get right when doing skin, I too am working on it. SSS is just one small piece of the great puzzle.

hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, I've seen the thread about SSS and have played about with it on simple objects, I'll most certainy have to try it out in combination with a human model though. Best of luck with your efforts in getting the percet skin also ;)
