what alternatives to lightmapping are there?

i useually use collapse, but when i uncollapse my objects, it shows in max right, but it exports all screwed up data about positions of the models...
any solutions/ideas welcome, maybe a fix for uncollapse or something? :drool:

Hi Gibbz,

for my part i tried lightmap, that seems to work well on sphere and plane.But become a bit random on more complex model.
I think it need a good uv.But, i am on complex video game background uneasy to map, and all the test i made on complex model were unsuccessfull.And our engine is not able to do shadow map.

But lightmap would be nice for donjons, simple objects, and ground near a simple height map.

i Hope someone could delivered us, the good way to use the lightmap.(instead of the vertex light)
