This is my last pic for a short film,it is the final look ,what I want to do for the please if you have some advises...
for the BG I'm not sure,But I want something simple,any ideas?

That is absolutely awesome work, the only things I would work on was the background, which could be a bit more detailed, and the poses, which could be a tad interesting.

Thanks guys ..the background is tmp and I don't have serious skining yet...that's why the poses aren't natural..:hmm:

Characters look great! The background is getting there, but not quite. I like the modelled rocks strewn about. However, they look odd on the ground which is too smooth even though it has a map that contains rocks. Maybe try adding some displacement to the smooth ground based off a modified version of the color map.

It doesn't have to be craters, but if you have some roughness, that shading will look better and blend more with the rocks on it.

Love the characters and the materials on them!

I understood from the title that you´re making this on maya, am i right? Could you post a wireframe, i´m curious on how you made that ground and the little rock´s on it... displacement or are all modeled by hand??

The clothes shading is fantastic!:drool:
Do you modelled entire bodies or only the heads? (very good ones)

excellent looking renders. Its hard to describe but their render style makes it difficult for me to envision this as an animation. The character design and texturing are all rather excellent so good work!

show us more when you have more!

Yeah I like that a lot. Reminds me of the Oddworld style of CG.

For the Blur they have script name planter and you random a bunch of stones up in the air, U creat a groune you clik plant and it drop the stones on the surface of the ground....5mn :):cool:

But a little bit of atmosphere and depth of field could help to focus more on your characters ;)

Post it in a bigger resolution ( ask me if you need space on my website) And remember it's your turn to buy some cigarettes.

the image looks good,but i would say that the lighting is kinda dim.u have done a great modelling work,i think u should use better lights to show off the gr8 models u've got
i like the concept though

Excellent - Another great piece of inspirational work out of the French Artistic community. I would like to compliment you further on the amount of work you must have put in to get to this stage.

As for the background my suggestion would have to be to add smaller hairs. I am assuming, that what we can see, in the background are the hairs of some animal. Maybe have hairs the size of the characters, and then hairs smaller than the characters also.

Keep up the good work - looking foward to an update.

PS: I liked the other images on your site from this project.

It's bicauz I paint the texture in photoshop bicauz this CH is still in I have to paint the boots,the wingz the gloves and the engine (modeled but no textures :blush: :bounce:

It looks like the lighting is a little hot on the mantis guys compared with the other two. Are they individually lit? Also, the poses of the characters are really stiff in this render. It would be cool to see them strain a little because of their generous weight. The shoes of the third guy from the left are a little too bright as well.

Awesome modeling and texuring, though. I can't wait to see the short!

I think what ever the short consists of, the storry should be self contained. meening it doesnt need alot of props, big special effects or lots of invironments. i think the story or drama should lie in your characters and there feelings, struggles, turbulations, joy and excitments. Remember, K.I.S keep it simmple.

I love some of pixars shorts becouse they are so simple. like the man who plays chess with him self. its his facial expresion and excitment in winning that makes that so great. Think of something simple these 4 characters might have to over come. or some acomplishment or discovery they come upon on acident.

It could be something as simple as an eggcorn they came upon and they have to figure out how to open it and show all the fun and funnyr creative ways they work together (or dont work together) to get it open.

Really nice models, textures and lighting style. Only one thing sticks out: the shadows are way too hard. Soften them up a bit with some area lights! Other than that, great work.

I remember to have seen a hand drawing of the left character (or perhaps it was a piece of mesh?) long time ago.
I'm glad to see you have finished this one, and done the others.
(pour pinailler je dirais que les 2 persos de droite flottent un peu, ils semblent ne pas recevoir leurs propres ombres portées)

Well, I know someone yeat mention that before, but shadows on the ground is too much sharp and not so realistic. Will be nice if every person has his one own and then on big softer and lighter for whole group. ... Just thinking.

it's certainly a nice job, however i think there are too much pronounced colours in this picture. The harmony is alittle off. y'know, there is yellow, orange, green, purple, all in small amounts.

I didn't read the entire thread...but the only thing that I think needs help is the eyes. They don't look like eyes & seem to be more part of their spacesuits or skin.

You are undoubtedly talented. I really like the character concepts... chubby crickets... cool.

But if i had one negative to throw out, everyone is so stiff. There's no energy to the life-forms, they look like action figures that have been posed, and not like living breathing beings interacting with thier scene...

As I said I dont have any final skining and I'm no animator so be patient :)...but with animation it's gonna be more natural (posing)
And by the way the story is pretty fun!!

One minor suggestion, and I apologize if someone has already mentioned this, but perhaps there should be an object somewhere in the picture to give the characters a sense of scale. I realize that it's for a film, but I figured that if you were to use this a sort of preview picture, then scale would be necessary.
