View Full Version : >>Environment: Room Interior

Here is the second half of a company test I did recently. Requirements were simply a floor, ceiling, two adjoining
walls in a sci-fi theme. I was heavily inspired by Star Wars
Knights of the Old Republic.

another pic and some of the textures.

nice work, my only problem is that the textures don't seem to fit together.. especially the rocky-ish wall, and the ceiling texture as well as the side pillar textures don't really seem to fit in with the rest. Going from your other stuff I believe you can do way better than this..

>>Beaneh: I totally understand what you mean. The problem
is that I spent a lot more time on the Building exterior and that
left me about a week to do the room from scratch. I should have balanced my time better during this test and left more time for
the room. Oh well, I learn from each piece and hopefully my next
thing will be better. Thanks for the comments.

I agree, your other works are far superior to this piece. If it isn't too late, I'd spend some time touching this environment up and resubmitting it to the company (if you haven't already been hired :)). Explain why & where you went wrong and they'll understand... someone who can self criticise and correct themselves without having to be directed is a big ++ in the industry.

honestly, the only tex that seems out of place to me is the circuit-board/brass supports that are running vertically - they don't really seem to fit in. The rest of the work looks quite nice (at least to me)! I think you could get away with the rock walls, and the chair and table design is very cool.

Thanks guys! Maybe one day I'll go in and fix this bad boy up but, for now, I'm onto new projects at the moment. Oh, I didn't get that job, it keeps getting delayed and delayed........oh well, this happens a lot in this industry. For now, I just keep on looking.
