This oughtta be cool. His legs are bit short though. Could be the choice you made for the character ofcourse.
01 January 2004, 03:51 PM
nice concept!! i would also think the legs could be alittle extended, even for a super deform character.
01 January 2004, 05:29 PM
awesome choice man. the slug games rock!! good luck

cant wait how its lookin in 3d, so i start modeling:
01 January 2004, 08:42 PM
im still noob at modeling, C&C please =8)
01 January 2004, 08:55 PM
well, you don't seem like a noob in modelling to me ;). great model, comming along really nice.. I also like the fact that you didn't just mirror everything. looking forward to the final product!

don't overlook how one of the key characteristic of these guys were their 'lack' of necks. Their heads kinda caved into their chests.
I think that would help seperate this from a normal biped guy and give it more liking to the characters.
01 January 2004, 10:23 PM
Neil: yeah! nice idea, thanks
here some result
01 January 2004, 09:52 AM
around 3800 triangles atm.
and btw i looking for hair modeling tutorial...
01 January 2004, 12:22 PM
you can probably get a new set of 1000 polys if you optimize the mesh. remove fans etc. and merge polys that together dont apply real shape... i mean that it could be enough with one/two instead.
otherwise its looking good, and i like your selection of character.
01 January 2004, 02:45 PM
sure i will optimize... latter =)
comments hair please.
gun 240 tris
01 January 2004, 07:20 PM
well... looks like almost all is ready to UVWing.
please comments... what and how i can improve?
01 January 2004, 04:54 PM
no replys? its means good or bad?
01 January 2004, 06:40 PM
texture in progress... viewport render.
01 January 2004, 06:55 PM
it is looking good, but I think the reason you are getting no replys is because your server is really slow, it takes me about 6 minutes to load all images and a lot of people don't have the patience to wait that long.
As for the texture process.. it is looking great. I really like your style of modelleing and texturing.. and this is your first model you say? o_O Only one thing bothers me a bit, and that is the visible toothflesh on the theeth plates.. you should get rid of it and cover the whole mouth with theeth since the corner pieces are missing.. Maybe im wrong.. hope to see this finished soon!
01 January 2004, 07:44 PM
hey thanks! im on dial-up, so all big pics really slow for me =)
maybe you know free and fast enough ftp?
Nop, i say im noob...its my 8th or 9th model...
01 January 2004, 11:17 PM
excellent job with the modeling! it's spot on with the concept.
i look forward to seeing the final texture.
01 January 2004, 01:57 PM
small update, and test new host...
01 January 2004, 03:00 PM
Cool, I like where this is going. I think the wrinkled skin on his face makes him look a bit old though.
01 January 2004, 03:39 AM
This is looking very good..his vest may look a bit neon though.
01 January 2004, 03:22 PM
Haha I love Metal Slug!
Supervlieg is right that the wrinkles around his mouth and nose makes him look slightly witch-like and old.
And twindragon's comment about the vest being a bit neon is true as well.
Other than that, he's looking excellent. You've captured his essence.
Any plans on making the other guy or the Tank? :D
01 January 2004, 04:41 AM
Just wanted to say that so far, this is probably my favorite entry. I suggest making all the textures darker and with a bit more contrast, but other thatn that, great job on the model.
