Title: Crow In Winter, Bugmeyer (2D)
Software: Photoshop

This is a really old pic. It marks the start of when I got serious about painting. Despite its age and obvious shortcomings, it has remained a steadfast feature in my gallery because it still represents the kind of art that I love to create.

Mmmh! I like it. your crow are little strange but original.
A little detail: Where is clavicle? Don't forget dot it, I think that will better... good work

12-19-2003, 11:17 PM
His clavical? Under his jacket >.> It's a big jacket and it hides pretty much all of his anatomy...

Not that his anatomy is really so ambiguous. Just that it's not really apparent enough to be right or wrong in this instance.

Hey cg guys... just give him the award now.. :D

simply awsome!

12-19-2003, 11:47 PM
Nice painting , but is it something with his arms, aren't they too small?

I like this image very much. The gentle touch to the crow with the back of his knuckle, (obviously a close companion/protector) comes across well.

The hand looks much larger than normal, but it still looks good, not sure if that is what you wanted or not. The over-sized hands can look good in certain styles, I think it fits quite well in this image.

The snow should be partially in the foreground I believe, he has no snow between himself and the viewer. I would add some random flakes here and there, doesn't have to be a lot.

Off to view your site, great work!

Very nicely drawn and with a pretty original style....can't do much of a critique on anatomy....I can only say it works very nicely and creates a very pensive mood. Excelent

Excellent image, although the crow looks more like a magpie.

Remember guys that this is "art". The crow doesn't have to be anything. Personally I love it.

good work...nice hues and shades

Fantastic work. Love the Green eye and Red earring contrasting agains everything else. There are no rules when it comes to artistic enterpretation. The HUGE hand and crow only add to the mystique. Very, very nice. FANBOY.

simply amazing, great job.

Thats great, I love the style and the jacket detail. It is very original and you've captured the character of the crow in him very well.

anatomy looks fine

looking very nice, I like style of this, only thing bothering me is a perspective issue with that golden thing, hanging on his chest, it looks wrong somehow. Other than that, very nice work

12-23-2003, 01:02 PM
The perspective looks right on to me. Nice painting.

12-23-2003, 04:41 PM
Ive loved your style. I dont think there is anyting to crit, its very good the way it is:thumbsup:

12-23-2003, 07:09 PM
This is one of my new favorite paintings. God I love this

12-23-2003, 08:09 PM
I think the guy's chest is a little...flat. Not that he should have a "rack" - but for man, I mean that his chest-muscles are flat...savvy?

I like this piece - Magpies ROCK!!!:bounce:

12-24-2003, 01:05 AM
It's actually an ashen rook. Which is a eastern european crow. So he is a crow, just not a solid black one. Not a magpie. But not like it really matters. I don't know that much about birds X___X

 Cheers y'all! Thanks for all the replies!

I really like this peice... just one prob I can see. His clenched fist is almost bigger than his head. The hand seems way to big, even if its slightly in the foreground.

your picture is very good. it has a style to it that i like :p- however, it could go a little bit more twisted if you know what i mean
heck i dont know what i mean

I love it, the man has something very crow quality to him. The crow is very wel done, doesn't look menacing at all. As if they are partners and friends.
The colours match the mood really well.
I love this kind of style!
Keep on!!

really nice.

but : is the character design genuine ? it seems to be heavily inspired from Simon Bisley's paintings and drawings of Slaine.

am i wrong ?

btw, if not, consider reading the comics Slaine, you'll enjoy (at least the graphical style :) )

This is an all original work. And it was inspired entirely by my previous works. I'm sorry, but I don't know who those people that you mentioned were.

Thanks for compairing me to more respected artists though.

Nice image

Looks very stylized, I didnt like it at first........but at second or third glance it stuck, like very much now. Very nice would like to see something more conventional..........oh, yes how many layers was that?

01-10-2004, 08:49 AM
nice great style......the only thing is you kind of lose info on the inside EYE ......

01-10-2004, 09:39 PM
I'm not exactly sure how many layers. Because this pic has the most layers I've used on anything recently. I think it has 5 or 6.
